On all honestly Geoff it makes such a small difference to price of the majority of the fish in the market. When you scale it up to the cost of my shipments then it’s a big deal.
At the end of the day a price of fish is what someone is willing to pay for it which is why most dealers have there top quality and there lower end koi great video Ricky 👍
Really interesting Ricky and very truthful I’m a big fan of breeding weird and wonderful koi I think it’s a good thing that the public are moving away from gosanke varieties this drives breeders to produce the different varieties we are seeing now which can only be a good thing for the industry
Just on shipping costs they are so many "hidden charges" that the hobbits probably don't think about, the actual flight times can make a dramatic increase in the price of individual fish - as less fish can be packed per box as the flight times increase maybe like the ban currently in place to fly over Russian airspace and the routes that airlines are now taking from Japan this can increase the flight times by some hours, or having to make a connecting flight say for example in Dubai - so actual numbers of fish packed per box decreases - price per fish increases . This has to be done as well for the welfare of the fish , - the bags water pollution, oxygen level etc .
Cheers Ricky 👍

I was surprised that you never mentioned the exchange rate impacts Ricky - not just on the cost of the koi but also shipping. Great vlog tho 👍👍

It's the end of season price that the odd one when a fish is priced at £2000 at a dealers then at end of season its 600 .
It also blows my mind especially when some of those fish are still looking good.
koi dealers have never had it so good last few years this is their golden time
That is true but I’m sure the next 12-24 months are going to take all those gains away.

Agreed.

It absolutely is a good thing. Keeps it interesting for all. Gosanke will always play a big part but it’s nice to have diversity.

Exactly Andrew there’s so much too it but I honestly think most hobbyists have no interest in knowing. They just want to enjoy their koi.
@@KoiWholesale You are probably right, but sure a few would be interested in the whole process
