  • I hate to say it, but I feel like my husband and I actually like this MORE than a traditional pumpkin pie! I hope you guys give this one a try, if you like pumpkin, you'll like this!
    1 can pumpkin
    1 can evaporated milk
    1 cup brown sugar
    3 eggs
    2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
    1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    1 Spice cake box mix
    2 sticks melted butter
    1 cup chopped pecans
Mix all together well and set aside
Spray a 9 X 13 baking ban with cooking spray, or coat with butter.
Pour pumpkin mixture into baking pan. Top pumpkin mixture with boxed cake mix, try to get it as even as you can. Pour melted butter over top of cake mix and lastly sprinkle pecans over cake mixture.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 45-50 mins. Enjoy!

I like mixing the cake mix with the softened butter and pecans until it’s like crumbs, then sprinkle it on the pumpkin mix. I think it has a better texture.

I slice the butter and put evenly over cake mix. I work in a truck stop and brought that in for the truck drivers. It was a great hit. Making it again today. I bring baked things once a week and hand it to truckers for free.

You can always freeze the butter and grate it over the cake mix. That way it melts evenly. Can’t wait to try this!🤤👍🏼 Bring on the pumpkin spice everything!

I made this recently and I really appreciate the use of spice cake instead of the yellow cake mix called for in a lot of pumpkin dump cake recipes. I'm only one person and usually cooking for just a couple other people if I have company, so as an experiment I tried this in a pie pan. I used half the pumpkin mixture and froze the other half and used half the cake mix & butter.
The first draft turned out delicious and, last night I made a second with the frozen & thawed pumpkin mixture and the leftover cake mix and it turned out perfectly. I was initially concerned the texture of the custard may suffer with eggs and milk in the freezer, but it was fine. In fact, I'm having some for breakfast with my morning coffee.

Yummy! I never get enough pumpkin stuff on the holidays anymore. I like the idea of being able to freeze extra too. I used to make a cake for my youngest grandson where I used yellow cake but dumped in liberal cinnamon. Then I made a brown sugar icing my dear late Mom called "penuche". One of my all time faves. He was a picky little guy with ADHD and mild autism. You could never tell. Well we practically had to put that cake outside on the roof lol! He kept sneaking in bites. Silverware was not a necessity either. He's still loves it and Pop Tarts in brown sugar cinnamon. He says he doesn't like pumpkin...but I made some pumpkin pudding thing they fed us at Discovery Center and all 3 of them ate it right up.😈 And pumpkin is SO good for us. All of us even the animals. That's where they take them after Halloween. We also did Trebuchet which was so fun for the kids. I miss all that. They're all grown now. I'm hoping to be a young GG too as I was 37 when I was told I would be Granny haha. Idk. They're all maybe wiser than us. But I hope they don't wait too long...So many people at work made fun of me about the Gramma thing. I loved it. I have long blonde crazy hair and I did NOT look like anyone's granny. But I didn't care either way. I was THRILLED. I had already been there done that, raised a child alone and I had my own home and a good job and was just about done carousing lol. They laughed and I told em you're jealous. This cake would be so easy for the kids to make. Think I'm gonna try to get my spice boy involved while he's looking for a better job. Thank you! Sorry so long. Happy Thanksgiving! Be safe🦃💞

This still has that classic pumpkin pie taste, but man that spice cake and pecan topping just really takes it to the next level. My husband and I were watching TV the other night and I felt like getting ready for bed it was so dark. I had to laugh when the clock said it was only 7pm! The liquid/custard part of this recipe never warrants the need to spray the 9X13 pan, it’s a custard so it does not stick.

Why don't you clean your stovetop?? Very nasty presentation. Otherwise, this is a nice recipe. Yes, I can see the cake jiggle when you shake it. This is a nice recipe for fall baking; I am delighted to add it to my Fall baking recipe collection.. I gave you a thumbs up. Thank you, 😊 "Pumpkin"

Are you talking about the speckled stuff etched into the glass of the stove top? That’s literally the design and how the stove top was made. In the corner of the glass you can see the reflection of the window above the stove. It wouldn’t shine like that if it were dirty.

My first ceramic top stove was gray speckled like this one. I LOVED it! Very easy to keep clean. Since then I've had two solid black, glossy stove tops. Impossible to keep clean. Every miniscule crumb stands out. No matter how I clean it, it's extremely hard to get it not looking greasy, etc., etc. This one looks spotless.
