I flew this plane on December 10, 1973 when I was 16 years old out of Clow airport in Illinois. I decided to look up the registration. I'm glad it's still flying.
n2339l, about two and a half years after this video was shot, he was hired as a Commercial Pilot in Alaska. He started off in the Caravan & has already advanced to the Beech 1900. His future is beyond bright!
Exactly! I experienced the same thing learning to fly in a Cherokee 140 when I was 18; no better experience for an 18 year old kid! This video sure brings back memories.
nice vid... fly young man... fly... to be stuck on the ground is a fate worse than death itself... you were lookin' at those jets as you pulled into parking, weren't you... it's as if they were calling to you, right :) --Mike
He's done amazing things. Not too long after this was recorded, he flew passenger Caravans up in Alaska. After that, he flew Learjets for a charter company, now he's a captain on Regional jets.
You absolutely nailed it! He's now a captain at PSA, flying CRJ's. Prior to that, he flew Learjets for Clay Lacy and even did a year or so of flying up in Alaska in the Caravan. facebook.com/PSAairlines/photos/a.547322475347811/2098371700242873/?type=3&theater
That circuit look congested with buildings, whats the plan with an engine failure? Looks like not many places to put it down? And the circuit seemed a bit low?
I have 2 hours in a 140, from years ago. Mostly I remember that with 4 full-size adults on board, it feels a bit under-powered. Kinda like putting 4 people in a PT Cruiser...
Too cool! I live right down the road, near BUR. Demetrius, the pilot seen in this flight, can be seen here doing what he loves: facebook.com/PSAairlines/photos/a.547322475347811/2098371700242873/?type=1&theater
When I started the video, I was so happy to see how young the pilot was. Too many young people just sit and thumb their devices... Our aviation community is slowly dying because nobody is interested in flying anymore. Nice landings sir!!!
Actually we have more pilots now than we ever have had. The problem isn’t lack of interest it’s that most of the pilots learning to fly are learning to fly for commercial reasons and not for hobby flying. Hard to keep people in the GA community when they all go to the airlines.
@@TomCook1993 You are right! I have noticed the push for the airlines from the flight instructors that I know. I even get things in the mail saying they would take me at my age. No thanks, I just do it for fun.
He was 17 at the time. He's now 19, and was recently hired as a Commercial Pilot in Alaska, which means his life dream has been accomplished. There will be many more successes coming his way, no doubt.
That's cool! I'm currently 16, and a little under half way through getting my private pilot. It's motivating to hear success stories from other young pilots like myself! RyanBomar
Jack Bell, love it, bro! Keep it up. I forwarded your messages to Demetrius, he's thrilled to hear that. If you have a Facebook account, add us, so we can keep track of your progress. facebook.com/RyanDBomar (Mine) facebook.com/Airplanepilot (His)
+tombmaster972 It's for ventilation on hot days. Use the crank to open the sun roof a few inches. OK, it's really the trim. Later 140s have the trim wheel between the seats. I think the roof location was better and easier to reach.
I noticed you descend onto the unusable portion of the runway and float past the displaced threshold before you set her down. Is that how you were taught to land? I am not saying it is wrong by any means, just wondering about the origin of your techique. Also, what is your airspeed on final? You seem to float a long ways. 1.3 Vso would give you less float. Good job on the flying, btw. I learned in a Cherokee too.
Lou Spam That airframe carries a lot of energy forward even at low approach speed and 2-3 notches of flap. It wants to keep flying. He's taking advantage of the DT to level off and bleed away some of that energy before wheels down. No reason to get so close to minimum if you have room to stretch out.

GREAT job !!! U are an inspiration. I learned at 40 yrs old !!! still love it.
Awesome awesome job! I'm in training now and love it.
Nice job, kid! A young pilot,,,what could be a better confidence builder for a successful life?

👍🏻 That’s some seriously congested airspace with obstacles. That flying at 17 😎👏🏻✈️

Great little video. I love those pipers.
Great video Ryan! I've got a '67 Cherokee 140 also, which is why your title caught my eye. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
good job young man, keep up the good work !

love that 140;that or a Cessna 150 is all you really need to fly.The elegance is in the simplicity of the design.
Excellent video! Can't beat the PA28!
I don't know... Have you tried the PA32? :)
Nice plane!!
And great vid and audio!
What a fun little spin that was, and the motor sounds tip top!
Thanks!
Looks like great fun, I love the Pipers! Great video.
I smiled the entire time watching this, so many treasured memories you brought back.
Wonderful video, thanks so much for posting.
Congratulations by the video, I flew a lot PA-28 here in Brazil and a wonderful machine
Pretty Plane ! I had an equally nice looking 1968 140, N6746J. Great flying aircraft. Enjoy it, and always keep the shiny side up.

Love your vids Ryan! You tell a story with each one.....well done!!
Beautiful flying, outstanding video!
It makes my day to see kids learning to fly. More need too.
That was an awesome float to get past the displaced threshold.
Love seeing young black men flying I know he’s probably working for an airline right now, any updates on this kid?

Wonderful video Ryan! Bring us more like this one!
How does the bowtie yoke feel on the Cherokee? I'd bet it is very good and you'd be able to have a lot of control.
That circuit look congested with buildings, whats the plan with an engine failure? Looks like not many places to put it down? And the circuit seemed a bit low?
Amp meter needle getting some serious whiplash there.
Try a trip out to Furnace Creek...it's a blast!
good job, i see you are a leftie me to makes for easier flying but tougher taking notes keep flying
Great video, to many people put music to them, keep it original !!! Very nice

You're not incorrect about that... :)
NICE JOB ! GREAT LANDINGS
Awesome footage Ryan, thanks for sharing! I wonder who owns that 727 at VNY? I didn't expect to see an aircraft that size at VNY!
I can’t wait to fly a Piper Warrior in Xplane 11🤗🚁👍
Awesome. I did my solo in N2386T.
1080P for the win! Great video bud! You should try to get a video inside a King air 250/350:)
very good vide, Ryan, Keep up with your good job!
Interesting to see a different PA140, this one is eons nicer than the ones I fly! Thanks for making me jealous. ;)
If your renting, turn on master and radio to get ATIS. shut off and then do your normal startup.
I fly a ‘67 Cherokee. Landed at VNY last week. Still looks the same... Are you still flying? Commercial? CFI?

Great video Ryan, like always :). What's up with your GEN AMPS? Looks like they are overloading or faulting. Check it out :).
+Mike Dart The meter is showing the drain of the "FLASHING" beacon!
great flying and very nice video! :D
Awesome video
nice video, gotta love KBUR and KVNY!
I got my private pilot license in one in 1965.

it's probably broken...
Good job kiddo!!!!
Awesome video buddy. :)

Cool!
Nice job! Are you still flying, what's up?
Thanks for watching! Yeah, he flew for an airline in Alaska, on both the Caravan and Beech 1900. Now he's back in Los Angeles flying Lear 35's.

Badass!
you know it's ok to use The part och the runway for takeoff but not även you are landing.
Whats the spinny thing on the roof at around 3.20?
Its the "Trim" stick.
Landed short of Displaced Threshold Runway 16

+Alec Paul He was in the circuit, so probably had restrictions!
That pilot looks about 12! Landing was not the best :(
