  • Let's do some landings! In this video, we're using the FREE UH-60L for DCS to do some sick landings. Also, some disgusting thrash I recorded for your enjoyment. Let me know in the comments your favorite way to land a hawk!
    I donate 20% of what I make from RUclips to various aviation/military charities so the more you watch, the more you give! Check out my library of videos!
    00:00 - Intro
    00:20 - Hover Check
    00:36 - VMC Approach and Landing (Standard landing)
    02:15 - Roll-on Landing
    04:42 - Terrain flight deceleration to a landing
    05:37 - Slope Landing
    09:40 - Roof-Top Landing
    11:37 - Dust Landing
    13:31 - Autorotation to the ground!
    15:52 - Outro
    The techniques and tactics used in my videos are purely that of the simulated world of DCS. This does not represent real life flying, tactics, techniques, or aircraft capabilities.

    As a UH60 pilot I am impressed with how you get all this good information into a short video. I am equally impressed with how the aerodynamics and behaviour of the helicopter is so realistic. Now the only thing they should add is Lowe airfield, chickenplant and a couple of stage fields and the whole AQC could be done at home :-)

    • @SnakPakFlight
      @SnakPakFlight  Год назад +52

      Yeah, I'm hoping we get a realistic 60 in MSFS soon. They just dropped helicopters but only have a Bell 407 and some other weird one I've never heard of. Somebody wend and modeled all the airfields around Rucker so we just need the 60 now!

      @@SnakPakFlight my brother is one of you guys, he retired a few years back and flies in the civ world I went USAF, they don't have a warrant program so I was stuck unless I got some degree. My eyes weren't good enough until a nice Colonel fixed them for me at Wright Patt. Its fun watching you fly one of these in DCS, I might pick up the 60 and surprise my brother with knowing some things I shouldn't.

      @SweatyFatGuy Год назад +7

      @Yo Joe I was turned into a newt, run over by a Honda lawnmower, shredded into tiny bits, and just came back so we should have met if that is true.

    • @SweatyFatGuy
      @SweatyFatGuy Год назад +3

      @Yo Joe it patently obvious that you have never been turned into a newt, if you had you would know that you are not given a passport when that happens. You only get a passport when a squirrel has a group thang with some watermelons and a lamp post.
      Then to get the hot beef injection one must first have a bridge built out of them, watch two movies about gladiators, have seen a grown man naked, spent time in a Turkish prison, and weigh as much as a duck.
      Only then would your ammenables be compulsory to the juxtaposition of the chlamydian forceps in the event of another space invasion.
      Thankfully we have real UH60 pilots flying DCS so we can avoid all of that. They are the true heroes, as they fly the top gun actors around.

    • @SnakPakFlight
      @SnakPakFlight  Год назад +63

      Ryan, true! But better controls do enhance the realism. Our simulators we use for training are much more sophisticated. I spent some money on a honeycomb yoke and the rest went to my Pc basically. I’m hoping some of the flight control companies will send me some of their stuff for review.

      I flew fixed and rotor in rl and sims since the early days. I actually use two joysticks because helicopters are notorious for putting a lot of wear/tear quick as opposed to aircraft. I use my TM WH stick/throttle/pedals for all my fixed wing and use a Saitek X52 for helis. The main things about helis is regardless of the brand, you want a stick that had great feel around the neutral with zero deadzone. At first it will feel WAY to over sensitive but after practice just thinking about it moves the heli. During training I actually had to use a marble on a ceramic plate, sit it on my lap and be able to center it and hold it there.

      It’s a pedagogical method called “modeling” and the key is to talk through not just the process but one’s own thought process as they complete the example for the student.
