I can totally see myself as this guy. With my ADHD hyperfocus and general obliviousness, that could very easily have been me, just la di dah ing through some creepy shit. The conversation he had with Megan really, REALLY sounded like me "Welp, doing my thing, paying attention to thing, but someone wants to talkk [ugh] so I'mma make vague interested noises while I do my thing."
Love that they were like "HE DIDN'T NOTICE!!?? CALL HIM AGAIN!!" And literally forced him to look in order for him to realize what was going on, legends only Sebastian 🤣

@@eabhaishere4558 This is actually true because (spoilers!!!!) in a later episode where they take a statement from a guy who has probably adhd, he basically tells how he escaped a manifastation of the spiral unharmed because he lost focus XD.
I'm genuinly starting to believe that the entitys have a hard time making adhd people do the things they are "supossed" to do in these situations

I like to think that Sebastian was Megan's first "case" or something. And she got so frustrated that he wasn't picking up on her subtle, well-practiced creepiness that she had to call him again and just shoved him into the room so he'd see it all or she'd be teased by all the other demons forever

i like to think that sebastian had encountered several paranormal things before, and just... didnt notice. like he bumped into a not-them at a supermarket while they were in their normal form and was just like "oh sorry have a nice day"

Wish this happened in a horror movie. The demon just trying harder and harder for the protagonist to notice it. The protagonist only notices it days after it has given up and is crying in a corner.

I would watch that in a heartbeat, the desperate barely passing for human monster trying to goad the oblivious protagonist into the nightmare plot while he's just like "hey this is my friend Craig! A real joker this one, y'know? We should get together for a movie night sometime"

Sometimes minerals get clogged in drains and it turns water red. I used to live in a rental and any time I’d come home from a vacation the water would run red for a few minutes in the drains because the minerals would add up from not using the pipes for a week
As a plumbers apprentice, it’s more accurate than you’d think. There’s a pretty strong tendency to just keep your head down and disassociate while on the job

Seriously though, we know that Breecker and Hope are in some way tied to the circus, and the circus is comprised entirely of Not!People, or at least things I call The Other if I'm wrong about the Not!People. They definitely aren't human. The circus is also tied to the cursed clown doll and idk, maybe they're trying to turn Jon into one of those dolls? Thinking back on it now I wonder if maybe that clown was the victim, not the culprit. Maybe it was warning that woman. And the calliope. I know the music is strange and can be heard up to a mile away. I wonder if that too is a warning, or a threat. The man that became a doll, he also heard the music even when the instrument wasn't playing. Up until it got him. Bottom line is they know where Jon is and someone wants him to know that. Maybe they're trying to direct him towards a certain path? Or to keep him away

Yeah and that one woman in the subway survived because she just excepted her death and stopped being scared. They just want fear and when you don't give it to them they get bored or pissed off.
I mean that's literally how they defeat Freddy in the first Nightmare on Elm Street.

I feel like it's less ignoring them and more not noticing them. Like, if you notice it, and then you try to ignore it, that's not going to work. (I'm fairly sure there are episodes where someone noticed and attempted to ignore the fears and it ended badly for them, but I don't remember which lol)
that sudden moment it hits you that sasha being introduced arguing about calliope music (and its link to the stranger) was foreshadowing her fate as not!sasha.......... how did i not notice this

I like to think that the Rusty Quill staff look at the comments on this video and laugh at us calling Sebastian a himbo or or a king

"What strikes more than anything else" Not the fact that there are clear factions, named individuals with power, several shadowy schemes going on, and a coming apocalypse, it's that it was just a bit before Gertrude died. Really, Jon?
At this point the creepy stuff is natural and besides the mystery of Gertrude's death is priority #1😂

I listened to this with a friend a while back, while we were both high. Both being asexual, and knowing how it feels to have to rephrase because people think you mean something else, we both decided that the best interpretation of this is that while Sebastion is trying to speak directly and not faff about, Megan took his words to be flirtatious (crudely so, but still). I love the idea of an eldrich abomination trying to scare a dude, and then getting flustered because she thinks he's not just not scared, but genuinely attracted.
No, Megan did not take his words as being flirtatious, that's the wrong interpretation. Just rude and crass.

@@nightcollapse I mean, yes, she was. The entire episode is about a guy who's too clueless to even notice the spooky shit going on, so that's part of it. That line in particular wasn't "flirtatious", and yeah, she was probably more shocked about how casual he was being about the whole thing.
Flensing is the removing of the blubber or outer integument of whales, separating it from the animal's meat.

Oh my god he's literally me. I'm so unobservant, I once completely missed the fact that a building right near my house that I passed by almost daily for years had been knocked down. I didn't know about it until months after the fact and my dad looked at me like I was crazy when he had to tell me that "Yes, there was a HUGE building there". I couldn't even remember what it looked like because most of the time my eyes just pass over things my brain deems unimportant.
It happens way more often than I'd like to admit. It can be frustrating and embarrassing but also pretty hilarious and usually harmless.
Me:- god this episode was so creepy and scary and the circus music at the end spoiled me hard.

Consider: The Entities are our fears. According to Jude Perry, Avatars need to "feed" their fears, i.e. somehow invoke that fear in others. Jude and Megan probably intended for Sebastian to be very scared by horrible things he saw there, and escape with some very frightening stories to spread around, making lots of tasty fear for them. Instead, he came there and _didn't even notice_ the things that were supposed to scare him. Basically, it's like they ordered UberEats and the driver forgot the food. XD
I just imagine Megan calling the invisible flame woman all annoyed after the himbo had left and ruined the night. To witch the fire lady just told em that they'd come over with few beers tomorrow so they could try again

I guess I’m Sebastian. I listen to this while doing other things, so I don’t pay the most attention and sometimes have to rewind because I’ve missed some parts, but I got all the way to the end of the first visit and went “huh, weird nothing weird happened yet.” I also assumed Sebastian was right about what flenseing was
As a French person I don't even know what flenseing is 😂
This was the funniest episode since the one with the Buried ghost train with the weirded out train Aspect kicking out the lady who was just accepting everything that was happening and not freaking out!

The Stranger/Unknowing arc is by far my favorite part of TMA canon
As a person on the spectrum I get it, the uncanny valley really has no effect on me and several of my friends who are also touched by the 'tism.

It might just be me, but as a first time listener, i thought that jon just loved voice acting out the statements, but if you listen carefully here, Gertrude has intonations that sound slightly welsh, which is where Sebastian is from….. makes me think its the archives, not just performing…. Or, they are both equally as dramatic as each other, either or😂
Did anyone else notice how Gertrude said "zero one four one zero one zero"? Specifically, the last two "One zero"s are very... robotic.
