  • Description: Male Cardinal Sings His Heart Out! Ocala, Florida, Mar. 18, 2014
This cardinal was first heard near my front porch flowers (See last clip). I did not see him at first, he was only perhaps no more than 6 feet away when I first started taking video. He sings a variety of songs-apparently calling to or for a mate. It appears he did get a response if you listen closely. Enjoy!

Christine Scaife Ditto Christine. Same with my beloved mom. My son named his business in her honor. I just lost my home. Emergency surgery and near death nearly claimed me from my earthly family. Had to move to a new location. I was so sad. And then looked in the new backyard with a little cardinal to let me know that I was going to be okay. Now there are several to remind me of an angel nearby. The best medicine of comfort and healing. Always keep the faith!!!! Pam Kitchens - Van De Mark

In central florida and saw a cardinal the other day doing little chirps in a grove of palm trees next to my semi truck. Like 8 feet away, landing on my mirror and looking in. Surprised at how how aware and curious it was, also smaller than then I imagined it they would be. Then this morning same parking spot I heard a bird singing very loud and it sounded exotic almost.
Didn’t know know what it was though then ines walking nearby later in the day and I heard it again and saw a red bird high up in a tree. Was hard to tell exactly and seemed larger but was making a lot of of one of these sounds in video and is also the “exotic” sound I was hearing earlier in in day. Wonderful

Cardinals and Robins are my favorite birds. They make me happy. I grew up in Wisconsin, and when the first Robins appeared in the backyard, it meant that Spring was approaching, and it was tone to take down the storm windows to the back yard. But as soon as we did, this Robin couple built their nest above the floodlights, so we couldn’t go out the back way, haha. Had to let them do their thing.
We have Robins down here in Texas, too. They’re very quiet. Cardinals and Robins are very sociable little birds. The Cardinals sing just before the sun comes up, and as the sun is starting to go down. At least, that’s when they’re most active. And their songs are completely different from the ones shown here.

I had to sell my sweet, little Home that became over the years a Bird Sanctuary. I had a very quiet corner lot with Cherry Trees, Japanese Maples, Hemlocks & many large bushes that created a safe refuge for so many Songbirds. Over the years I learned the many different tones & tunes as the Birds kept me company while I weeded the gardens or other chores around the house. I miss them all terribly & often come on RUclips just to hear them sing again.

All caged birds are either captured or captive-bred. In the wild, these beautiful beings are never alone, and if separated even for just a moment, they call wildly to their flockmates. Flock-oriented, they preen each other, fly together, play, and share egg-incubation duties. Many species of birds mate for life and share parenting tasks. Most birds will not take a second mate in the wild if their first is lost.
Life in captivity is often a death sentence for birds, who may suffer from malnutrition, an improper environment, loneliness, and the stress of confinement. Birds are meant to fly and be with others of their own kind in a natural environment. Confinement causes birds to have temper tantrums and mood swings. The New York Times has reported that many birds “go off the deep end when they are … placed in captivity. … The resulting frustration, [Cambridge University zoologist Dr. James Serpell] said, leads to abnormalities like repetitive behavior, in which the bird’s head weaves back and forth, or in which it shifts constantly from one foot to the other; abnormal grooming in which the bird picks out all of its feathers, and aggressive behavior.”
Birds are smuggled into the United States more than any other animal. Before being shipped, birds are often force-fed, their wings are clipped, their beaks are taped shut, and they are crammed into everything from spare tires to luggage. It’s not unusual for most of the birds in one shipment to die.
Taking animals from their natural habitats endangers individual animals and jeopardizes entire populations and ecosystems. The population of the South American hyacinth macaw has dropped significantly over the last 10 years as a result of smugglers’ capturing the birds for U.S. and European collectors.
Birds bred in captivity don’t fare much better. Birds older than 8 to 10 weeks of age don’t sell well at pet shops so many are kept for breeding and condemned to small cages for the rest of their lives.
If you love birds, contact a bird rescue group in your area to learn how you can foster or adopt an abused or neglected bird. Please don't buy a bird. Your entertainment can be directed elsewhere. It's a sin to cage a bird. Sylvia on Tuesday, January 23, 2018

I discovered this video of the male cardinal singing his heart out several years ago. Wish I could put a thumbs up every time I listen to it. Maybe it's my imagination, but it seems like the birds start coming around, especially the cardinals. They'll turn their heads back & forth like they're trying to find him, especially the males. I wonder if they're jealous & are intimidated that he might be after their woman. Probably not, but it's still fun to watch. Best cardinal video I've ever found so far, plus the sound it great. No background noise at all. Makes me wonder why in the world would anyone want to give it a thumbs down. (Probably male humans.) I finally subscribed while hoping more videos this great would start showing up on here. Thank you so much!!!

I knew it was in my tree I just couldn't spot it, I didn't know the call of the bird either so I wanted to look for it. I finally see it in the high branches, a beautiful red cardinal. My brother took a picture of this fat cardinal at our dad's house and I took a few pictures of another cardinal at my mom's apartment and today I got to see another one but funny thing is I've been seeing males instead of females, but anyways he was doing what they usually do and he came to the tree right in front of me and my cat friend and I gave him the gesture "come here". He came towards me but went above and onto the roof because we all know how cats and birds are, but I think that since I told her not to hurt/kill any birds she's been chill and if the birds knew that I bet we could all be friends. I wish we could ALL understand each other so there won't be any fights because of the misunderstandings because of different languages. Lol so many "because's" XD but yeah. I just love animals so much and I would love to help them if they would just understand. The dogs, cats, squirrels, and certain other animals can understand us I know that for sure. OOOH I have got to go see if that squirrel I met would listen to me, but I'd have to go to my dad's for that and my brothers happen to kind of be friends with it 😊 I want to be friends with wild animals T^T
I should get a pet parrot cause they can learn just like toddlers can :p Hopefull it can be my living translator and friend ofc :3
I love animals so much 😊❤❤❤

What a shame that no one has the patience to make an 8-hour video over a period of weeks, as a man in Ireland does, and a man in Norway does. Thanks for the whole big three minutes. I hope it didn't tire you too much. ~~February 10, 2018 ~~ I would think we all know that only the male Cardinal does this singing, and he's the red one.
