All i can say is outstanding mate!
Thanks bud! Thanks for the comment means a lot 👍
Brilliant desk/chair layout. Seems that you can kick out your legs to top of the bench for ample legroom -something that is missing from every van-desk system I've seen. I
Thank you! 🙏🏻 it’s always a real balance to every individual to get the most of out the space and this was my take on it 🙌
Thanks for watching 🫶🏻
thank you looks great and inspiring, gonna be my next project
☺
Thank you 🙏🏻 it has been a lot of fun and if it inspires others all the better 🎉 let me see yours when you get underway 🤘🏻
Love your set up. All the additional wiring etc puts me off 😂
Yeah there’s a lot of that! 😂😂
Awesome Van can I ask where do you get the fridge from mate
@@beastgaming5508 thanks bud yeah no worries here’s the link

Nice, l have a 2005 model here in NZ great ride. Got some good idea’s from your video thanks however l also have a couple of questions. Where do you keep all your cloths, laundry and toiletries? Finally in NZ we have to be able to access and use the loo with the bed made up … how do you get on with that in the night? Look forward to hearing back, cheers.
Would love to visit NZ!
When the bed is set up the space between the side bench seats in the middle obviously has the bed over leaving a big old space for my bags, paddle board, clothing and all sorts.
Also when the bed is set up the toilet door under the sink can still be full opened and the toilet pulled out to use, not a big space but enough 🙌
@@ADoubleGymAndTonic thanks for that, feel free to look me up if you ever do come down under.
Thanks for the video. She's a beauty! Did your Elgrand have the floor vents? I live in Australia so was wondering about the air circulation under the bench seats. Cheers mate
Thanks bud 🙏🏻
Yeah I removed all of them, the bit at the rear where the air comes from the fan unit I turned the existing exit piece of plastic that joins upside down and it lowered it and cut it off so that the air came out from there. Didn’t want to complicate or damage the unit so it still works great!
Brilliant mate, genuinely given me so much inspiration to do this to ours. Gonna go easy for now, fridge, nee tv and the benches with table. Then eventually may add more, but that will be perfect for us for a a family day out bus! Have you got any infor on how uou made the benches? Id be really interested in learning or a general gist of how you did it! Thanks for the video 💪💪
Thanks bud! And thank you for watching.

This link has a few pics from my Facebook page which might help you 🙌
Just bought a 98 3.2 .. I live in it full time, it has al the extras absolutely love it, so looking for ways to convert it inside. You won't believe what i paid for it so I won't tell you 😂😅. But she's a minter. But trying to change the alternator belt which is a pain to do great video thanks 🙏👍
Thanks bud 🫶🏻 I need to change my belts too just plucking up the courage and time to do it 🤣
Yeah love these and you get so much for your cash!
Bet she is a beauty 🙌
Lovely vans, Built over 60 of these so I know how good they are, How do you use the toilet when the bed is made up? I usually put mine in a permanent private space. anyway happy camping. Cheers. William.
Hiya thanks for the comment
The loo pulls out from under the sink and stays out overnight as there is enough room at the end for it bud 👌
Well done mate. looks great. In NZ the rules are a bit different so its not so simple. Cheers. William. @@ADoubleGymAndTonic
@@kiwivanman9035 that’s a shame, does that mean you can’t convert a van in the same way?
Yea. Our toilets need to be permanently fixed to the floor and can not be moved. our legal requirements are very strict. Really it does not worry me cos I have a very good and popular layout design. built and sold 100 vans already. @@ADoubleGymAndTonic
@@kiwivanman9035 great work buddy, I’m luck to be able to move the toilet and less strict here.
Also not brave enough to do other peoples vans 🤣🤣
Love this. I have a 2002 elgrand XL. I would love to do something like this. Roughly how much did it cost you to do and how long? Many thanks. great video and and awesome van.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
It has taken me 18 months doing it here and there. It’s also my daily drive.
Cost wise, wow what a question!
In time, hundreds of hours, the main actual structure wood and fixings not that much really it’s the electronics and gizmos that cost the money, you get what you pay for!
Difficult to answer and every single build is different.
Plus my wife might see so, my answer is not much 🤣🤣🤣🤣😬😳
Great setup! Ive just got myself a Thule 973 bike rack which Im in the process of installing.
Can I ask what settings you chose for the straps on the top eg 20 holes or 21?
Hey thanks for watching! Mine goes to hole 21
Like it, but how do you fit in that bed set up?
Thanks bud, I have been asked this a lot so am going to do a quick video on it 🙌
Beautifull ride - well done🍻 As a class 1 driver I love cars - driving, detailing, taking care of is a real pleasure and make me very relax. I want to buy e51 but prices are quite high - £10k for good one, so I was thinking to import one using company who does it and word on the street is that in Japan best ones goes for about $4-5k us dollars plus transport and all duties and taxes and still that option is cheaper then buying here - what you think? Also whats a real mpg - some say full tank last 250 miles, some say 350. Im not 20 anymore so I drive for pleasure not a race. Was thinking about 2.5 4WD - maybe is less thirsty😉 All the best amd happy camping🏜️
Thanks buddy really appreciate the lovely comments and thanks for watching the video!
Starting with fuel the 2.5 and 3.5 aren’t worlds apart I understand obs you would get more mpg on a smaller engine but not a great amount. I can go anywhere from 270 miles up to 420 miles depending on driving style and road type the difference really is huge!
There are some benefits to the 3.5 when it comes to some of the later mechanics.
If I were buying again I would import a top grade model from a reputable supplier in Japan to be honest and save myself the profits of middle men.
I wish you well let me know if you get one! 🙌
Amazing job! I’ve love to do something like this to mine, would it be advisable for someone not particularly good (rubbish) at DIY?
Ah thanks 🙏🏻
I had no experience apart from basic stuff and learned all I needed on RUclips 🤣🤣
If you feel brave give it some research and take a chance, you might surprise yourself!
If you have the ability and don’t feel confident then get someone who knows what they are doing. 👍🏻
nice tool BUT... no links to any of the kit you've fitted. Wanna maybe share cos I also want a solar kit on my E50 but not a stick-out roof rack. Seems to be what yu have.
Just a thought. Like maybe sharing would make you a lil more popular.
Thanks for the view bud and yes quite right too!
On one of the early videos I did that
What in particular did you want to know about?
The 200watts flexible solar panel by Renogy they don’t do this particular one any more, they do other types but not this one sadly.
I was literally just looking at buying one of these vans in Australia to make a very similar set up.
I must say your interior looks immaculate.
I was looking a similar electrical set-up.
May i ask why you've only used one solar pannel?
I am assuming you drive enough to chatge from the alternator?
The panel is 200w and I drive regularly. The lithium is 200amph so when sunny it doesn’t even need the back to back charger the solar is sufficient. So summer here ok, where you are would be amazing! 🤣 thanks for the comments, she has been a labour of love ❤️
Great work, what make and model is the fridge please
amzn.to/3K2wBCj
Hi there just went back to your video again as I’m looking for a fridge is your fridge noisy?
It’s extremely quiet bud very pleased
Hi, just wondering what thickness of plywood you used for the bench seating? 18mm?
6cm
Where did you get the drawer above your toilet ? I filled that space with a tray to hold bits and pcs but drawer looks much better
I think it’s this one bud amzn.to/44fIEUO
Great thx !
Hi, I am interested in fitying a C rail Awning rail on my E51. How did you secure yrs to the roof ?
Cheers Ian.
I put my brave pants on and stuck it with tiger sealant / adhesive and used self tapping metal screws into the roof bud
only one question...when can i buy it? lol
I do have the odd day when I think about selling her to do another one 🤣🤣😳
I never understand why you need all this electrical stuff . Have a powerbank never found the ned for more
Hiya
I too have a power bank, but find that all of the seamless workings of a fixed system to be so much more useable and straight forward like a house so to speak.
Everything just works, charges, hook up simple etc.
I completely get the power bank and take one in the big tent when we go family camping.
I can see how you could use just that in a van too, but as I said the seamless operation is priceless.
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Where do you get you back lights from
@@beastgaming5508 amzn.to/4bu6krl
How did you fix your 6mm awning rail?
I used small self tapping screws and tiger sealant / adhesive along the length and in the screws
Has held well and doesn’t cause any issues is hidden and works really well
Thanks for watching 🫶🏻
Is this ULEZ and Caz compliant?
Hey bud thanks for watching, any Elgrand from 2006 onward is ULEZ compliant, surprising I know but there you have it! 🫶🏻 so yes it is
How many miles per gallon does it do 😊
It’s not the vehicle for the best MPG 🤣 it’s comparable to a sprinter - I use super unleaded which is a bit more to buy and is the recommended fuel type for this vehicle.
A full tank is around £110 and this can give me anywhere from 275 to 400 miles depending on how I drive, the weight carried and what roads I use.
Around town the lowest and I have had 420 miles on a sunny day, motorway miles with no load driving like Miss Daisy.
I hope this gives you some idea, the range can be quite different!
How much did u spend on this set up?
I have no idea as I lost count thousands ago 🤣 it’s defo not a value build
@@ADoubleGymAndTonic haha well u did an amazing job mate
If you're "off grid" why would you want to crap in your van where you are cooking, eating and sleeping?
Surely a shovel and toilet roll is a better option.
Good point, but really depends where you are. Thanks for watching 🙌🏻
Was really liking the set up until you got to the bed....lot of messing about.. too much effort
Hiya thanks for the comment bud feedback is always good 👍🏻
I had to make some kind of sacrifice for having the rest how I wanted it. To be fair I can actually sleep diagonally being a short arse to no real need to set it all up unless there is the two of us 🙌
Take care
@@ADoubleGymAndTonic hey fella, don't get me wrong, I like what you've done, I'm just a 60yo lazy ass lol. I have the 2001 e50. I've fitted it out and pulled it apart again 5 times now, (I know right wtf) just can't get a small van to fit all the stuff I want in it. Chatting with you from Queensland Australia.
