    Great job Andrew, and I'm loving the open-mindedness towards NON-legacy brand countries and cultures; unfortunately you are in the minority in this regard, especially among the wealthy class. Perhaps a cool idea for a future video (assuming you haven't done it already!) would be a sort of "country equivalent" video, along the lines of "If you like Spain, a cheaper alternative featuring better value would be ___. If Sweden is more your style, try ___".

    It makes sense for developing countries to be airb&b friendly, its a cheap and fast way to quickly increase your tourism capacity, a lot of them don’t have a high hotel room capacity outside of big cities or resorts, especially by legacy brands, on the flip side those hotels in established countries pay some of the highest taxes around, I know it’s one of Chicago’s favorite tax revenue wells/avenues to increase, those hotels and cities are looking to protect their revenues and taxes respectively.

    Here in the US they vote on property taxes, and the voters raise them all the time! Many renters (usually the same people who will be screaming about gentrification) vote yes to increase property taxes because (I guess) they don't think they will be paying them. Of course they will, because rents go up as taxes go up. But they are just too dumb to see it. It makes me understand why in some places in the past only property owners could vote. People who are not invested in the system have equal say - who would run their own business or household like this? Nobody.

    I cringe at real estate. Although I've developed my share of the desert in the Gulf its really hard for me to go through the 2-5 year process to do something that's gonna give me that 20-40% return. These days one can have 20-40% returns in a couple months, and then re-invest the earnings again on another asset category.
    But it works... and a lot of people make their living out of it.

    I’m hoping someone can help me get my head around the argument that bitcoin is like digital gold and a store of value. I get that only a certain number of Bitcoin will be created. Okay fine that supply is limited. People compare this to gold. The thing is there can only be one gold. On the other hand there is an unlimited number of crypto currencies. Exact Bitcoin clones can be created out of thin air. How can we say the supply is truly limited? I don’t get it

      Cryptocurrency is a proof-of-concept application of the blockchain technology and smart contracts. Those underlying technologies have much greater long term value than cryptocurrencies. They are going to revolutionize how we interact on the web. Are you only doubting the value of coins, or also of blockchain and smart contracts?.

      All currency is a belief system based on Joules. The old store of value was gold, which required energy to mine. The new store of value is proof of work, which also requires energy to mine. It now takes more energy to mine Bitcoin that gold. Thus, it is trusted based and its backing of Joules.

    • @GreatestAudioBooks
      @GreatestAudioBooks 2 года назад

      I think you’re right, Kat. Bitcoin is not Gold and shouldn’t be compared to gold. Bitcoin (and most crypto) isn’t private, either. Monero and Pirate Chain are exceptions. The advantage of crypto is portability, but crypto is an entirely different asset class than gold/silver.

      As a person living in Cyprus I recommend….. don´t! Locals all have their own houses/apartments already and nobody is ever moving because distances are small. Even if you´re job is in Nicosia and you´re living in Limassol, you just drive daily. Golden Visa programm is stopped and will not be live again soon. Nobody is going to buy these properties built for this scheme anymore. Formere Golden Visas investors always drop their properties after mandatory holding time, but these properties are so overpriced, it´s ridicolous to even think about buying them with 50% discount! That´s the market in Cyprus. Good luck :) .
