Awesome. The philosopher as piano teacher, the zen master, the apotheosis of cool. I love Kent Hewitt, love his passion and his method of teaching. It works for me. Great introduction to improv.
Impressive comment...particularly when one sees how many different teachers you watch!
@@KentHewittpiano88 I live to follow a few Kent, the difference in styles I find interesting and valuable for my learning. And intellectually I love philosophy and I get what you’re saying. All the best, Zuie
I REALLY appreciate the fact that you take the time to help beginners get started - in contrast to "overly flashy" displays that are impossible to follow. Many thanks.
I try to make video tutorials for all levels of ability. Thanks for the positive feedback...it's very helpful to me!
Excellent lesson. Bite size and easy to understand. I am looking forward to the next video in this series. Thanks a million!
Glad you enjoyed it! Do you want more videos on beginner improvisation?
@@KentHewittpiano88 Yes!!!
Extraordinary! As for me it would be great to practise that as an example on a song in your book.
If you have my book, please look at the written out improvisation solos on songs and you will see the concepts applied. Thanks!
Dude! This is so liberating - tried a few steps (badly, it is tough, more work needed ) then played a standard , got such a better feel ...
Please, more tutorials and exercises like thus
Btw u r hip
Thanks for the affirmation. So nice to know that I'm doing a good job, even being a cool cat! Swing loose!
Thank you Kent. Another great lesson, very easy to understand. A great starting point to learn improv.
Thanks for watching!
"Patterns" get dissed by a lot of folks, but IMO they're KEY to building confidence while improvising, and they get you PLAYING something, to get the motor running! If we practice scales and arpeggios, (so that we're not afraid of 'em!), why shouldn't we run some patterns until we get comfortable and less scared of taking improvised solos? Great lesson, KH! 👍🎹🎵 XO - M
Yes, Marilyn, you nailed it, as usual. So glad you dig what I'm doing....and I mean DIG! Thanks!
WOO HOO! 1ST ONE
Cool cat....#1
Hi Kent, thank you for such a great lessons! May I request a song for tutorial? I would like to learn “From this moment on” by Cole Porter, I would love to see how you would approach the song! Thank you!❤😊
Great request! I'll put that on my list. Here's one for now:
