Pilot Officer Nelson gives you a guided tour of the RAAF E-7A Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft. For more information on the E-7A Wedgetail visit: www.airforce.go...
As an American I say bravo Aussies. The plane is really impressive. Ability to “quickly” field an E-3 replacement is amazing! Without needing to initiate a long development stage, it just needs to be configured for USAF standards. I’m excited to see this fly over here!
Nelson Bro Thank you. The Flight Deck tonnes of fun I could Drive one for sure 🥰 I'd love to Co Pilot one day press a button or two flick a switch or lever 🤩
The only modifications I'm aware of that have been released to the public is Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) which is a satellite based communication system and MCODE GPS. There is probably other classified tech as well going in.
Check out Dark Skies The Bizarre and Risky Future of Electronic Warfare - The E-7 Wedgetail. The 737 had strakes placed below the tail to counter the radar. It should be a lot better aerodynamically than the frisbee.
wait wtf i though you had to have high level of security clearence to view inside this aircraft let alone be allowed to share a video of it? in the AAFC on our promo we where not even allowed to look inside the hanger.
The interior would have been declassified for the video, and the video would have been checked and approved before releasing it. I'm guessing when your group visited this wasn't the case, so they couldn't let you inside the hanger.
They would have declassified the interior, However, the thing that is classified and they cannot show is the classified capabilities onboard, Notice how all the screens are blanked meaning the Ground Power Unit is either off or the Utility or Battery switch is not on.
MY comment is based on Aussie's offensive remark that was deleted....you got in the game way too late....so buzz away with your great point...bc no one cares.
beautifully shown, i'm very happy but i'm afraid that a foreign intelligence agent might see it. Please be careful. I am Polish and I know what Russian can do badly. Good luck !!!

Great Job Nelson
You make me proud to be an Aussie
Thanks for your service Mate
From what i have seen the Americans are now following our design..yay another first for Downunder...well done guys..proud of you guys and gals.
Our American version is a bit different. Each country has their own requirements. I'm sure our version has classified stuff we don't like sharing

the E-3's stupid spinny dome was way out of date anyway. we were long overdue for an AESA early warning radar and the E-7 was perfect. thanks aussies!
Aircraft made by Boeing and radar made by Northrop Grumman.

Great tour.
Can't wait to see them in service with the
Royal Air Force.

Thanks Sir for a great tour . Keep up the Excellent Work you are doing ..

Nice one Nelson good job young fella.
Really interesting and good video - well done!
Thanks Nelson. You r very polite and informative. And not too bad on the eye. 😉😊
Brilliant. I was hoping we would get a walk through on the Wedgetail. Thanks Nelson and RAAF.
UK is getting this aircraft. ..nice .
Saw one of these flying over coffs harbour last year , it just kept circling all day
Damn well presented video. Cool stuff!
Awesome great video....well done Nelson. That would be a good job on that Aircraft...long missions...
Thank you
Thanks mate 👍✈️🇳🇿
Thank you for helping Ukraine 🇺🇦
now this is first class!
Keep up the good work Nelson
Nice interior.
Nelson Bro Thank you.

I'd love to Co Pilot one day press a button or two flick a switch or lever 🤩
is it possible to do a video focusing on the day in the life of RAAF cabin crew? thanks!
Yeah the RAAF continue to show the way. Our E7 wedgetails have been in high demand on ops with our coalition partners for a decade now
A superior aircraft to the E3.
I would hope so. The E3 is over 40 years old. That's probably why several nations are buying the E7 from America now
From what I am reading, a modified/customized version coming soon the USAF.
The only modifications I'm aware of that have been released to the public is Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) which is a satellite based communication system and MCODE GPS. There is probably other classified tech as well going in.
Very interesting. Thank you.
Love the video love the plane kym from Melbourne also keep up the great work
Great video. "Flashlight"??
Does the new aerial compared to the AWACS make it easier or more difficult to fly? It is a radical change

Due to have 5 to replace the E3D SENTRYS at RAF Waddington..
😯😯😯
Hope you get em!
Yes, Tinker AFB will be getting them this fall.
Got reduced to 3. This government is blinded by cost cutting
Now going to Lossiemouth
I would love to fly one of those
Thank you for your service
Awesome awacs
Why do you need a secure (post 9/11 - Heavy) cockpit door... or is there currently no other option?
thx. I am joining da air force when I am older
666MikeRochip or he can join cadets and they’ll sort him out.
My co-workers keep praying we phase out the E-3s with the Wedgetails lol
Came here after seeing the news about UK buying this aircraft , does the MESA radar have 360 degree coverage ? What is the max detection range ?
Yes it does, and 3,500km
Ha they only showed half of the cabin
Considering a career with the ADF. I've chosen to go to the Air Force. If I'm good enough.
Great to hear! Check in with Defence Jobs if you haven't already, they can give you all the information you need.
Thanks for the video. At 1:50, what was behind that door at the very back? Another lavatory or double secret?
That door is over the wings, so behind the door is one REALLY BIG lavatory!
@@ElonMuckX Bet that one is used when evading missiles.

😂
all brains and electronics of the radar itself. that's directly under the antenna.
So it has 9-10 workstation?
Do you ever carry a third pilot, or is one pilot allowed to nap on long missions?
Perfect replacement for our AWAC
Great!

@@bwickham195 also I cannot tell capabilities just by looking at it!
You only got to see half the plane, since the lounge is over the wings.
And now the USAF will find a way to make an existing functional system overbudget, delayed, and full of systems that don't work.
Does the wedge tail recede down into the fuselage?
No, it's fixed in place so it doesn't mess with the sensitive equipment or stuctural integrety of the fuselage.
I take it this aircraft performs the same type of mission as the US Air Force AWACS, correct?
Yes very similar idea..
such an antiAmerican remark. If wasnt for the US NAVY and the US AF the Aussies would be using sticks and stones to defend themselves.
Manny Bayo hahaha dumb fucking yank
We would be using British tech
We managed fine by ourselves up into the 70s, I'm sure we would be fine today
Yewmad Bro we Aussies Aren't aollowed to use British tech sometimes

It looks like this aircraft or some variant will be replacing the USAF and NATO E-3 Sentry.

AWACS plane, its a radar plane which provides data and information to air sea and land targets.
