This entire concept may be a bit of a stretch, and I don't know what the creators were intending, but I happen to think Ben Solo achieved something amazing in just a few short scenes, inspired by Rey and the legacy of his grandfather, Anakin. Even in his death, Ben Solo left behind an AMAZING legacy. What do you guys think? Does this connection make sense? Is this power limited to a particular side of the Force?

The thing I personally can’t get over is that if you define a dyad in the Force as “two that are one,” then one half of the dyad cannot live without the other. If you give Ben Solo the power to bring back his dyad mate, then you either let him live after he does so OR kill him after an unsuccessful attempt. They both have to live, or they both have to die. Bringing Rey back while killing off Ben negates not only the internal logic of the concept of a dyad but also the power that a dyad has which Palpatine took advantage of, namely its power to give life. Even more tragically, Rey now lives without literally half of her soul, compounding the suffering, abandonment, and loneliness she has experienced and internalized since she was six years old-a tragedy which the TROS novelization fully acknowledges but also marginalizes, by the way. I HATE THIS MOVIE.
Ugh I couldn’t agree more. The dyad both made a way for so many great possibilities and happy endings for their them, but the film just ignores all of that and chooses the tragic ending for everyone, especially Ben. I hate the third act of this movie 😂😂😂
I fully agree as it mocks the sense of them being a dyad. I have never been able to understand why Reys body didn't fade away when she supposedly died. What does this mean? Was she not worthy enough to join with the other deceased force beings? Anyone got a theory?
I’ve thought that since Rey didn’t necessarily die from using up her life force like Ben did, her body did not become one with the force. She still had life force inside her. Her body was just spent. But yeah it still doesn’t make sense. The dyad thing doesn’t seem to be of much significance except when it’s convenient for the writers 🙄
That makes good sense as both leah and Luke went to the force after using the force until they're strength was spent. Thanks for letting me see it that way as it had always annoyed me. 😀
You mean, like a reverse Padme? I keep seeing her name but I don't know if people mean "Amidala?" I thought that's how her last name was lol Lord, yes. Such a bad ending :(

Yes, exactly. Because we could not properly mourn the loss of Ben, nor do we see the other characters mourn or speak of him, his death is all the more infuriating. It's as if they were too happy to toss him aside. I would feel horrible for any kid watching these films who sees Ben die like that. I'm a grown man and it kills me.
The grandchildren have effectively ended the Skywalker curse: Rey brought Ben back to the light (Palpatine had seduced Anakin to the Dark), and Ben gave Rey his life energy to revive her, while Anakin had sucked out Padmé's energy during the operation, killing her. In both cases, there is the element of "unawereness". Palpatine always knew what he was doing, but Rey did not realize that she was seducing Ben back to the Light, Ben did not know that his grandfather had wanted to save someone he loved from death, and Anakin did not realize that he was killing his wife. So, good wrapping up. A pity it's no happy ending. :-(
For me Ben Solo was the Chosen One, I know that Anakin and Rey brought balance to the force but Ben did something BIGGER (imo) First we must ask why did Rey died? Well she died because the same reason Harry Potter died, she was used by the Jedi to kill Palpatine once and for all, Palpatine said that if Rey killed him his essence will transfer to her body, so the Jedi took Rey as a sacrifice to keep the balance his own blood destroyed him Anakin thought that the power to keep those he loved alive came from the dark side, but now he knos that this power comes from the balance, when Ben Solo rises the Galaxy was still unbalance, but he was in balance, he finally knew he was loved, so he made the most selfless action in the history of the Galaxy, he gave his life to safe Rey, he restore the Jedi, he "destroyed" the sith (destroying the essence of Palpatine inside Rey), he bring the balance by letting Rey stay alive Well that's my opinion
I think he HAD to die to properly end the Skywalker saga on a bitter sweet note, similar to the ending of the LOTR movies, or Harry Potter, or even Game of Thrones. It is the best possible ending after so many tragic events took place (entire planets where destroyed, lots of main character died...), it was not possible to end with a happy ending. I wish he survived, I am still super sad, but I understand it was not possible. I like the theories according to which he survived somehow and is in the world between worlds, maybe we will see it in a animated series or in comics... I hope we will. I want Rey and Ben reunited 😭
Why is the tragic ending always the best one? What rule says that? The film should end on a hopeful note for the galaxy but we don’t even see the effects the FO had on the galaxy because the focus is so limiting. There’s absolutely no reason we have to keep making every dang franchise end in such a bittersweet manner. Not like that. Not with Ben taking such a small role with NO DIALOGUE and dying just moments after they kiss. Absolutely infuriating
@@JonHandEntertainment No rule says that it's just my opinion of course. The bittersweet note is the recognition of all that have been lost, all the people who died. My interpretation was that the only way Ben could save Rey was to give her ALL of his life Force (something a Sith would never do). At that point, the Force dyad became one. That was when Rey became a Skywalker.
They weren’t already one as a dyad? Interesting theory. I’ve never heard that one... I don’t think the film does an adequate job of even inferring any of this though
I feel that love has the final word is something people are trying to get rid of and subvert. They didn’t want Rey to need to end up with Ben to have a happy ending and so she ends up alone. While it’s cool to do different things and play with tropes it feels like everything is doing it these days and all I wanted was my happy Reylo ending jeez. Sometimes love IS the answer, and that’s ok too.
Yeah, I understand we don't just want to repeat the same old stories and endings in movies, but this is the ending to the Skywalker Saga! It should be incredibly uplifting and not only that, they would be wise to leave it open to future possibilities, and killing off a main beloved character like that doesn't enhance the ending in any way. It didn't feel earned. It felt just needlessly tragic.
@@JonHandEntertainment this is what I thought too. Despite how the prequels ended with Anakin becoming Vader, we all know how that ends. Star Wars has always been ao hopeful and has always shown how no one is irredeemable. We didn't get that with the sequels. I felt cheated somehow.

Compartilho dela. Belo trabalho!
The prequels Jedi had lost their way and focused only on certain abilities of what was passed on. As we see in TLJ, the force was once, just the force. The light and dark side were like a ying yang. One can not exist without the other. Transfer of force energy was apparently a power the first Jedi knew, but at some point they began to think that as evil. People say he is in the World between Worlds. But that seems far fetched. I’d love for that, but I personally even thought even bringing Ahsoka back was cheesy. I thought Ahsokas death was similar to Obi Wan and Lukes and I thought that was poetic. The master lays down their life to save their apprentice. Some people think he lives on through her. In the TROS book Rey heard Bens voice say “I’ll always be with you” after he disappeared. He’s gotta be a force ghost. But I don’t know why he wasn’t at the end with Luke and Leia. I have no clue. He deserved a better fate than just being another Anakin/Vader. Not that I have anything against Anakin. I love both characters. I just think as with everything else, JJ and Rian tug of war’d with his character. In TFA, Kylo is a replacement Vader. In TLA, he is shown to have a lot of development as a character. TROS kind of makes him a Vader again. But I would have loved more depth on Bens character. Kylo I believe surpassed Vader when he killed his master, proving him his own character. Which is one thing TROS really messed up on I think.
