Of all movies that are normally hard for her to watch even when released in theaters she didn't have complaints for this one all through the film.
🤠 This is the one entry in the franchise that younger kids tend to find scary because of the creepiness of those ventriloquist's dummies. Most people above the age of 12 really enjoy it. I think you'll find the second and third entries in the "Kung Fu Panda" series to be maybe not better, but at least as good as the first one. 🐼
I'm surprised Bonnie had access to a plastic knife in first grade. My sister got in trouble in first grade because my mom sent a plastic knife in her lunchbox to cut her chicken. American public schools put a surprising amount of emphasis on meaningless bullshit like plastic butter knives and the thickness of the strap on a third grader's tank top (that one was me), considering how often they get shot up compared to schoold in functional countries.

Forky not matter how trash he is, he is a good cooping compainion to Bonnie. she needs him in life. Must add its an allegory about how difficult how hard it is to adapt to life changing circumstances and how change effects us in different ways.
This film got me the most I've ever been angry with a four-year-old. Andy did not want to give Woody away and made Bonnie promise to look after him, but he was barely gone five minutes and she got bored with Woody and didn't even notice he was gone. Woody still cared about her even though she completely forgot about him and preferred playing with a fork, he deserved better. (I didn't realise how much I actually cared until writing this, either) Blir det Lightyear nästa för dig? Though after this one I really wanted a Duke Caboom solo film instead, best new character by far 🍁
Toys are there for us a short period of our life, some longer and other shorter. That’s completely normal. Even Woody is able to realize that the change with Bonnie is one that’s natural and not something he blames her for. Why are you blaming her? Find it a little strange 😅 she’s a developmentally normal five year old

Im gonna avoid to say "hate" but what I most DISLIKE about this movie is, the original and perfect 3 movies are constructed by the idea of friendship "u got a friend in me" and how Woody was never abandon his kid, and specially how a Toy is made for make a kid happy. Yeh this movie takes that to the thrash 😀 Again, is not bad, is just unnecessary, made for easy money (I just can't tolerate the fork) (FORK toy was sold in Supermarkets for 600$ dollars, A ROBBERY!!!! AND some influencers and people made trending making lots of "fork toys" just to throw them to the thrash later, more plastic thanks 😂😂) and looks at the others as "yeah I'm gonna ignoring you and all you've constructed, let's do MERCHANDISE!!!" I love you Sess, I'd be great you to react to Soul (and Inside Out of course )one of the best ever made ❤️❤️❤️
I don’t think Woody abandon his belief of friendship or that toys are made to make kids happy. He just grown and realized that there is more then one way of doing that. I would say it’s a very strong friendship that can see that the time for your friend to move on has arrived and you put your friends happiness and wishes ahead of “keeping things the same” or not wanting to be without them. Bonnie had already moved in from Woody and he’d be able to help way more children as a lost toy.
@@Sessis well is literally the thing buzz said on the second "once a toy taught me, one toy is made for make a kid happy" and again, Buddy loved Andy and it was clear he'd rather die (or be destroyed (?) Before abandon him. Now seems like he doesn't care enough for the girl, he looks like he made Andy give his favorite toys including Woody to the girl to take care of them just for abandon her as soon as possible. Everyone here knows "animation Oscar" was only created to give an Oscar to Disney for existing right? Also animators consider almost an insult to this day "academy" considering animation a "gender" when it's a way of expression, it's like considering sculpture a gender in art 🙃🙃 reinforcing the fact that was created only to give Disney an Oscar.

This the first criticism of the movie I’ve seen in the comments that I’d agree with. Yes that was definitely different from the other movies where they were more stealthy. Wonder if they try illustrate how little humans actually notice of what’s going on around them? We all tend to be a little stuck in our own heads and what ever we are doing or going to do next

I actually really like this move I think it finishes of well like Toy Story 3 wraps up Andy’s story and 4 does for woody as he is finally putting himself before an owner and he reuniting with bo as they did have a romance in the first 2 films
I never really liked Bonnie. She supposedly Woody so badly, and ended up taking him from Andy just to neglect Woody, leave him in the closet, and disrespect him by taking his badge and giving it to Jessie. (no hate towards Jessie) In my opinion, Toy Story should've ended on the 3rd installment.
Absolutely, great stories are so underestimated especially when they are currently in last released in the series. People are not opened minded and jump to instant conclusions and forget an important message was actually in it because the majority are so close minded and instantly overcritically judgemental. Our world is lacking tolerant people, and as far as I know everyone who works in the Pixar studio are tolerant of each other and that is directly poured into Woody and Bo Peep so well in this film and because it gives Woody a distinct character that's been flat for the last three arcs because Bo challenges him to respond in a way he never would have before. Woody's always had negative loyalty because he only concerned with getting back to Andy. Movie 3 I found the plot predictable, the character fight, the repeat villain trope recycled from Toy Story 2 honestly. Jessie and Bonnie were the only two things I never expected in those movies. Bonnie in Toy Story 3 is the unexpected help the toys and Andy needed. Toy Story conversations Woody has with Forky and Bo Peep are much more deep and fleshed out and nog a side of Woody we normally see in that first conversation with Forky despite accidentally using reserve psychology on the created toy he did make a strong connection through that speech and we feel what lies underneath that ragdoll's cloth a heart of a boy who went from being too clingy to being immediately less clingy a lesson all children need whether they are boy or girl.

I dont care, they can make as much Toy Story movies as they want. As long as they don't sacrifice the quality and the story for money. Toys Story 4 is a perfect example of how to prolong a franchise. Woody still ended up growing as a character from the beginning of this movie to the end. If some people see that as unnecessary, then they should just stop watching altogether. I can't wait for what they can come up with for Toys Story 5!
I fully agree, I thought the growth of the characters and the realization that there is more then one way for a toy to be there for children was great addition. It would have felt more like a money grab of it would just be more of the same imo. The core values are still there from the other movies.
@Sessis EXACTLY! We already had three movies of Woody convincing other toys that they should go wherever he thinks what's best for them, which was either Andy or Bonnie. He was loyal and selfless to the point that he thought it would be okay for him to be kept in the closet and not be played, as long as his owner was happy with her other toys. He's a toy himself, a toy is meant to be played. His service to Bonnie went straight out the window the moment she'd rather play with a fork than him.
I know there are people out there who like this movie but this one just wasnt for me, i mean it doesnt have the same magic as the other three did, they should've just ended it with the 3rd movie, cause that had the prefect ending.
Do you plan on reacting to Lightyear? If you are, then don't get your hopes up too high. Lightyear is very different from the other Toy Story movies and isn't as imaginative or creative in my opinion. I wouldn't call it a bad movie, but it did not keep me very interested.
I didn’t know that there was a Lightyear movie but you and someone else mentioned it. I think maybe I’d watch it perhaps now that I know of it. I like the idea of getting “the full picture” or “collecting” them all 😅 idk maybe I’m weird. There’s so many movies to watch oh my gosh!
Two big reasons why I really hated this movie and I know hate is a strong word but it’s the only word I can use for this movie .the first reason being they completely assassinated everybody’s characters woody would never leave his friends. Jesse would never just stay, put and not go with buzz when she sees him go out the window and they made buzz a complete and total idiot. He has proven in each movie that he is extremely smart, and woody has shown his loyalty for his kid and his friends.and in one of the shorts Jesse got over her fear of claustrophobia, they just completely character assassinated three of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise.
@@Sessis It's all gray area, of course, but in my experience an "amusement park" tends to be larger and stationary, a "carnival" tends to be smaller and nomadic, and a "funfair" is a temporary, small event like a fundraiser organized by a charitable organization -- although "funfair" is the least common of these words and what I've described for it here might simply be called a "carnival" too. Does "tivoli" match any of these meanings better than any other?
I still would know Toy Story 3 still the best movie and storyline. But both endings got even better 😊 Hopefully Toy Story 5 makes it better to finish it
@Sessis so many good morals. Never judge a book by its cover. Gabby Gabby wasn't bad. She was lonely. And Woody wasn't happy either. In the end, he chose himself. He chose his own happiness. I think an underrated aspect of the movie (and this franchise) is the ADAMANT references to the shining, every toy story movie has one. From Sids carpet, to the song played when woody first meets gabby
I didn’t like woody about to leave Andy and bonnie and I didn’t like how they made buzz dumb for comedy there some decent moments but to me this movie is not canon I’ll still watch Toy Story 5 out of curiosity
i feel like Gabby Gabby is a good doll toy that has a heart for anyone. she didnt mean to hurt woody but all she needed was the voice box to be fixed. and then her dream came true she has an owner of her own now
The most perfect way they could've possibly ended off the series. ❤ Everything came full circle in this film, even moreso than in 3. I'm still very hesitant about there being a Toy Story 5, but if it's as any good as this, I won't complain.

I'm surprised people were advising you not to watch #4 "because it [supposedly] isn't as good." I have found the Audience Score at Rotten Tomatoes to be a very good representation of public opinion, and, based on that score, I would expect #4 to be as well liked as all the others -- if not even _more_ well liked than the rest!
I really liked it! It seems from what I’ve seen so far people dislike that the characters make different decisions in this movie then they maybe would have done in previous movies. Which is strange take for me since that’s what made this such a great movie imo, they have grown and change and evolved.
@@SessisThat's a mild way to put it. The point everyone is making is that the decisions made by the characters are absolute contradictions to their character established in the first three movies and the shorts. They turned Buzz Lightyear into an absolute dimwit, which is inexcusable. But worse is Woody deciding to just stay behind (with a gal who treated him like dog crap the entire movie) without his kid's consent, abandoning all his friends. The first three movies were clear that Woody would never, ever do this. He was always loyal to his kid and to his duty to be wherever his kid decided to be, and only left Andy with Andy's permission. He lasted years and years without being played with during Andy's teen years but gives up on Bonnie after a week of no play time (which was made up for during the road trip montage where she actually played with him!!). And this wasn't Woody changing his mind at the end, the movie actually had him start to climb into the box with Bo during the opening scene!! He almost abandoned his kid, nine years before the events of the movie. This is not the Woody of the original movies, this is a figment of some bad writers' imagination. Not to mention dozens of horrible contrivances the movie presents every few minutes, rewarding the manipulative villain, etc. You're free to find enjoyment in the movie, of course. But it's an all around bad story.

I just watched it and honestly i think toy story 4 is the weakest of the films. It had many problems. 1)Bonnie as an owner was bad to watch. I get it she was a kid. But Andy did not even want to give woody to her. He made her promise and yet bonnie just forgot about woody and instead cared for this forky character that i did not like. The concept of "friendship" between owner-toy was written poorly in this movie. 2) This movie wasted old characters like Jessie, ham potato head. I wanted to see more of bonnies toys as well. 3) the ending of woody leaving his friends does not make my happy
I HATE THIS MOVIE! WITH A BURNING FIERY PASSION! I will explain every reason why when I have more time. I will name a few things that bother me. I am fine with a movie showing a strong female character. But not at the expense of keeping the integrity of that female characters', well characteristics. Oftentimes, they will change seemingly minuscule things about an existing female character. But if you are like me, you don't fall for their gaslighting, and it just comes off as forced, well gaslighting. And oftentimes, to distract you from this blatant gaslighting they will make the male characters seem insignificant, or incapable, as we see in Woody in this movie. If you remember from the first 3 movies, Woody was extremely capable. He could do things himself, but also knew when he needed assistance. There's another thing they do to gaslighting us into thinking the female they've chosen is stronger. They hit a main male character with, what I like to call the "stupid stick," for the sake of comedy, like we see in Buzz in this movie. But it just comes across as forced and unfunny. Also, it assassinates Buzz's character. If you remember from the first movie, Buzz came out of his box with the mindset that he was a real space ranger. He did things that would be logical if he was a space ranger. And when he realized he was, in fact, a toy, he had basically an existential crisis. He had to come to terms with it. He wallowed in feeling insignificant until Woody's pep talk. At which point, he quickly figured out how to get Woody out from under the crate. He was even quick to think of a way to get to Andy at the end with the rocket. AND SURVIVE USING HIS WINGS TO CUT THE TAPE! Which I always found clever. In the second movie, and this is the big one! He single-handedly figured out what the license plate letters and chicken feathers meant by using the one toy with a keyboard to un-scramble the letters. He was the reason they could figure out where Woody was. He also figured out the best way to cross the street. It was his idea to use the cones. Which is ingenious because people driving cars stop or swerve around cones. The best way to not get crushed! Also, in Toy Story 4, Buzz was the first one to call out that they needed to grab something metal to avoid the shredder. Need I go on about how smart Buzz is? I can! They completely character assassinated Buzz by having him use his buttons to hear his "conscience" the entire movie! I will name one more for now. I have many many more, but I'm trying to keep this brief. Yes, this is me keeping it brief. The most obvious thing that upsets a lot of people who grew up with the first 2 movies is Woody choosing to leave his kid when she obviously still plays with him! Obviously still needs him! And for what??!?! To go live with a woman who has treated him like trash the entire movie! She did not treat him nice one time! Saying things like, "Stay out of my way!" and, after Duke says, " behind the shelves would be the better route," she says, "That *would* have been better, wouldn't it?" Implying Woody to be a complete numbskull for even letting that idea cross his mind. She also tells him rudely not to say anything when they walked into the secret toy hideout in the antique shop. She is not what I'd call strong in this movie. She's what I'd call a b****! She can handle herself, yes. But that isn't the only thing that makes them strong. The way they behave does. Anyway, I could rant for hours and hours about everything in this movie that makes me mad, but I will leave it with this last one. Toy Story 3 was such a perfect, emotional end to the trilogy! Woody only left Andy because Andy chose, willingly to pass Woody and the rest of his toys to Bonnie. That is the only acceptable time for a toy to move on to the next owner. And choosing to not have an owner would only be an option if you found yourself broken and at the dump. Under no circumstance would Woody leave his kid! None! One more thing that ties in to all this. In the first movie, Woody taught Buzz that being a toy is worth it. Being a toy and being there for your kid means something. In the second movie, Buzz had to go remind Woody of this lesson. Buzz, "Somewhere in that pad of stuffing is the toy that taught me life's only worth living if you're being loved by a kid. And came all this way to rescue that toy,m because I believed him!" Woody wouldn't leave Bonnie! And the worst part of that scene where Woody choosing Bo frickin' Peep over Bonnie is the fact that Buzz TELLS WOODY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AFTER WHAT HAPPENED IN TOY STORY 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTT?!?!?!?!???!?!??! Ok, I kept it as brief as I could, believe it or not. I will have more when I have time. This movie has something wrong with literally every scene. They gaslight you so hard that you don't even notice it. OK, I gotta stop. See you in my next comment!
I personally think it’s normal that the characters would change with time. They aren’t the same as they were in the first movies. They been through things that has changed them. Some for the better, other for maybe the worse. You don’t think everything Woodys been through hasn’t altered him? Especially does last months of Bonnie not playing with him. His world has been turned upside down, of course it’s gonna affect him. Your of course free to feel they way you feel about the movie. I just think expecting the characters to not evolve is questionable, like Buzz telling Woody to go and try a new way of life is completely normal giving the directed all 4 movies has slowly been taking.
@Sessis Yeah. Definitely, they've changed! But Woldy has changed to be mess selfish. Buzz helped him further realize that being there for you kid is the most important thing. And if you recall, they never say it's been months since Woody's been played with. The clock toy says that it's the 3rd time this week. Woody has been put in the closet and not been played with. Now we don't know what the previous weeks were like, but we can get a pretty good idea from the shorts. The shorts ALL depict Bonnie absolutely adoring Woody. Playing with him in all her games. And I won't even begin to dissect the Bo Peep short. That would take ages. My point is Woody waited in a toy chest for years, waiting for Andy to need them again. He even encouraged the other toys to do the same. And we know it's been years because they say it multiple times, Andy is all grown up, etc. With Bonnie, they show ONE instance of not picking Woody to play with, and tell us only about the last week. If they wanted to give me the impression of it being months, they should have. Because they didn't. They gave the impression that Woody gave up on Bonnie after a week of no playtime. What happened to Andy's line at the end of the first movie? " Woody will never give up on you. Not ever!" And it was true he waited years with Andy. The only reason he went with Bonnie was because Andy made the choice. Not because Woody just thought it'd be better to go to Bonnie. Woody didn't hide in Bonnie's backpack. He put a message on the box and climbed into the bottom of it with the rest of the toys. Also, Bonnie plays with Woody on the road trip in this movie multiple times. Bonnie loves Woody! It just feels like they wanted to push the story a certain way and did none of the story-telling work to get there. And don't get me started of Forky! I will literally have paragraphs about that troublesome, illogical, insulting monstrosity! But for now, I'm mid-move. I will type up my complete, basically essay and put it in this comment section as soon as I can!

This is the only one where it bugs me that no one ever sees the toys coming alive and talking to each other. They barely try to hide it.
This the first criticism of the movie I’ve seen in the comments that I’d agree with. Yes that was definitely different from the other movies where they were more stealthy. Wonder if they try illustrate how little humans actually notice of what’s going on around them? We all tend to be a little stuck in our own heads and what ever we are doing or going to do next

I actually really like this move I think it finishes of well like Toy Story 3 wraps up Andy’s story and 4 does for woody as he is finally putting himself before an owner and he reuniting with bo as they did have a romance in the first 2 films

I never really liked Bonnie. She supposedly Woody so badly, and ended up taking him from Andy just to neglect Woody, leave him in the closet, and disrespect him by taking his badge and giving it to Jessie. (no hate towards Jessie) In my opinion, Toy Story should've ended on the 3rd installment.
I don't care what anyone says, the goodbye in this one hits me harder than anything.

Absolutely, great stories are so underestimated especially when they are currently in last released in the series. People are not opened minded and jump to instant conclusions and forget an important message was actually in it because the majority are so close minded and instantly overcritically judgemental. Our world is lacking tolerant people, and as far as I know everyone who works in the Pixar studio are tolerant of each other and that is directly poured into Woody and Bo Peep so well in this film and because it gives Woody a distinct character that's been flat for the last three arcs because Bo challenges him to respond in a way he never would have before.
Woody's always had negative loyalty because he only concerned with getting back to Andy.
Movie 3 I found the plot predictable, the character fight, the repeat villain trope recycled from Toy Story 2 honestly. Jessie and Bonnie were the only two things I never expected in those movies.
Bonnie in Toy Story 3 is the unexpected help the toys and Andy needed.
Toy Story conversations Woody has with Forky and Bo Peep are much more deep and fleshed out and nog a side of Woody we normally see in that first conversation with Forky despite accidentally using reserve psychology on the created toy he did make a strong connection through that speech and we feel what lies underneath that ragdoll's cloth a heart of a boy who went from being too clingy to being immediately less clingy a lesson all children need whether they are boy or girl.

I dont care, they can make as much Toy Story movies as they want. As long as they don't sacrifice the quality and the story for money. Toys Story 4 is a perfect example of how to prolong a franchise. Woody still ended up growing as a character from the beginning of this movie to the end. If some people see that as unnecessary, then they should just stop watching altogether. I can't wait for what they can come up with for Toys Story 5!
I fully agree, I thought the growth of the characters and the realization that there is more then one way for a toy to be there for children was great addition. It would have felt more like a money grab of it would just be more of the same imo. The core values are still there from the other movies.
@Sessis EXACTLY! We already had three movies of Woody convincing other toys that they should go wherever he thinks what's best for them, which was either Andy or Bonnie. He was loyal and selfless to the point that he thought it would be okay for him to be kept in the closet and not be played, as long as his owner was happy with her other toys. He's a toy himself, a toy is meant to be played. His service to Bonnie went straight out the window the moment she'd rather play with a fork than him.
I know there are people out there who like this movie but this one just wasnt for me, i mean it doesnt have the same magic as the other three did, they should've just ended it with the 3rd movie, cause that had the prefect ending.
Do you plan on reacting to Lightyear? If you are, then don't get your hopes up too high. Lightyear is very different from the other Toy Story movies and isn't as imaginative or creative in my opinion. I wouldn't call it a bad movie, but it did not keep me very interested.
I didn’t know that there was a Lightyear movie but you and someone else mentioned it. I think maybe I’d watch it perhaps now that I know of it. I like the idea of getting “the full picture” or “collecting” them all 😅 idk maybe I’m weird. There’s so many movies to watch oh my gosh!
Two big reasons why I really hated this movie and I know hate is a strong word but it’s the only word I can use for this movie .the first reason being they completely assassinated everybody’s characters woody would never leave his friends. Jesse would never just stay, put and not go with buzz when she sees him go out the window and they made buzz a complete and total idiot. He has proven in each movie that he is extremely smart, and woody has shown his loyalty for his kid and his friends.and in one of the shorts Jesse got over her fear of claustrophobia, they just completely character assassinated three of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise.
Woody couldn't really get over Andy. He liked Bonnie but he still wasn't exactly there idk. He wasn't fully happy. I agree with Jesse and buzz though

I think tivoli is the Swedish word for funfair or amusement park. I thought maybe it was used in English too but it doesn’t seem like it is
@@Sessis It's all gray area, of course, but in my experience an "amusement park" tends to be larger and stationary, a "carnival" tends to be smaller and nomadic, and a "funfair" is a temporary, small event like a fundraiser organized by a charitable organization -- although "funfair" is the least common of these words and what I've described for it here might simply be called a "carnival" too. Does "tivoli" match any of these meanings better than any other?

I think an underrated aspect of the movie (and this franchise) is the ADAMANT references to the shining, every toy story movie has one. From Sids carpet, to the song played when woody first meets gabby
I love this movie. It explains how bo peep left the house, and it ends with jesse being the sheriff. The animation is also insane 👍🏼

I'm surprised people were advising you not to watch #4 "because it [supposedly] isn't as good." I have found the Audience Score at Rotten Tomatoes to be a very good representation of public opinion, and, based on that score, I would expect #4 to be as well liked as all the others -- if not even _more_ well liked than the rest!
I really liked it! It seems from what I’ve seen so far people dislike that the characters make different decisions in this movie then they maybe would have done in previous movies. Which is strange take for me since that’s what made this such a great movie imo, they have grown and change and evolved.
@@SessisThat's a mild way to put it. The point everyone is making is that the decisions made by the characters are absolute contradictions to their character established in the first three movies and the shorts. They turned Buzz Lightyear into an absolute dimwit, which is inexcusable. But worse is Woody deciding to just stay behind (with a gal who treated him like dog crap the entire movie) without his kid's consent, abandoning all his friends. The first three movies were clear that Woody would never, ever do this. He was always loyal to his kid and to his duty to be wherever his kid decided to be, and only left Andy with Andy's permission. He lasted years and years without being played with during Andy's teen years but gives up on Bonnie after a week of no play time (which was made up for during the road trip montage where she actually played with him!!). And this wasn't Woody changing his mind at the end, the movie actually had him start to climb into the box with Bo during the opening scene!! He almost abandoned his kid, nine years before the events of the movie. This is not the Woody of the original movies, this is a figment of some bad writers' imagination.
Not to mention dozens of horrible contrivances the movie presents every few minutes, rewarding the manipulative villain, etc.
You're free to find enjoyment in the movie, of course. But it's an all around bad story.

I just watched it and honestly i think toy story 4 is the weakest of the films. It had many problems.
1)Bonnie as an owner was bad to watch. I get it she was a kid. But Andy did not even want to give woody to her. He made her promise and yet bonnie just forgot about woody and instead cared for this forky character that i did not like. The concept of "friendship" between owner-toy was written poorly in this movie.
2) This movie wasted old characters like Jessie, ham potato head. I wanted to see more of bonnies toys as well.
3) the ending of woody leaving his friends does not make my happy
Forky was the biggest problem for me. Such an annoying and unlikeable character.

I HATE THIS MOVIE! WITH A BURNING FIERY PASSION! I will explain every reason why when I have more time. I will name a few things that bother me.
I am fine with a movie showing a strong female character. But not at the expense of keeping the integrity of that female characters', well characteristics. Oftentimes, they will change seemingly minuscule things about an existing female character. But if you are like me, you don't fall for their gaslighting, and it just comes off as forced, well gaslighting.
And oftentimes, to distract you from this blatant gaslighting they will make the male characters seem insignificant, or incapable, as we see in Woody in this movie. If you remember from the first 3 movies, Woody was extremely capable. He could do things himself, but also knew when he needed assistance.
There's another thing they do to gaslighting us into thinking the female they've chosen is stronger. They hit a main male character with, what I like to call the "stupid stick," for the sake of comedy, like we see in Buzz in this movie. But it just comes across as forced and unfunny. Also, it assassinates Buzz's character. If you remember from the first movie, Buzz came out of his box with the mindset that he was a real space ranger. He did things that would be logical if he was a space ranger. And when he realized he was, in fact, a toy, he had basically an existential crisis. He had to come to terms with it. He wallowed in feeling insignificant until Woody's pep talk. At which point, he quickly figured out how to get Woody out from under the crate. He was even quick to think of a way to get to Andy at the end with the rocket. AND SURVIVE USING HIS WINGS TO CUT THE TAPE! Which I always found clever. In the second movie, and this is the big one! He single-handedly figured out what the license plate letters and chicken feathers meant by using the one toy with a keyboard to un-scramble the letters. He was the reason they could figure out where Woody was. He also figured out the best way to cross the street. It was his idea to use the cones. Which is ingenious because people driving cars stop or swerve around cones. The best way to not get crushed! Also, in Toy Story 4, Buzz was the first one to call out that they needed to grab something metal to avoid the shredder. Need I go on about how smart Buzz is? I can! They completely character assassinated Buzz by having him use his buttons to hear his "conscience" the entire movie!
I will name one more for now. I have many many more, but I'm trying to keep this brief. Yes, this is me keeping it brief.
The most obvious thing that upsets a lot of people who grew up with the first 2 movies is Woody choosing to leave his kid when she obviously still plays with him! Obviously still needs him! And for what??!?! To go live with a woman who has treated him like trash the entire movie! She did not treat him nice one time! Saying things like, "Stay out of my way!" and, after Duke says, " behind the shelves would be the better route," she says, "That *would* have been better, wouldn't it?" Implying Woody to be a complete numbskull for even letting that idea cross his mind. She also tells him rudely not to say anything when they walked into the secret toy hideout in the antique shop. She is not what I'd call strong in this movie. She's what I'd call a b****! She can handle herself, yes. But that isn't the only thing that makes them strong. The way they behave does.
Anyway, I could rant for hours and hours about everything in this movie that makes me mad, but I will leave it with this last one.
Toy Story 3 was such a perfect, emotional end to the trilogy! Woody only left Andy because Andy chose, willingly to pass Woody and the rest of his toys to Bonnie. That is the only acceptable time for a toy to move on to the next owner. And choosing to not have an owner would only be an option if you found yourself broken and at the dump. Under no circumstance would Woody leave his kid! None!
One more thing that ties in to all this. In the first movie, Woody taught Buzz that being a toy is worth it. Being a toy and being there for your kid means something. In the second movie, Buzz had to go remind Woody of this lesson. Buzz, "Somewhere in that pad of stuffing is the toy that taught me life's only worth living if you're being loved by a kid. And came all this way to rescue that toy,m because I believed him!" Woody wouldn't leave Bonnie! And the worst part of that scene where Woody choosing Bo frickin' Peep over Bonnie is the fact that Buzz TELLS WOODY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AFTER WHAT HAPPENED IN TOY STORY 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTT?!?!?!?!???!?!??!
Ok, I kept it as brief as I could, believe it or not. I will have more when I have time. This movie has something wrong with literally every scene. They gaslight you so hard that you don't even notice it. OK, I gotta stop. See you in my next comment!
I personally think it’s normal that the characters would change with time. They aren’t the same as they were in the first movies. They been through things that has changed them. Some for the better, other for maybe the worse. You don’t think everything Woodys been through hasn’t altered him? Especially does last months of Bonnie not playing with him. His world has been turned upside down, of course it’s gonna affect him. Your of course free to feel they way you feel about the movie. I just think expecting the characters to not evolve is questionable, like Buzz telling Woody to go and try a new way of life is completely normal giving the directed all 4 movies has slowly been taking.
@Sessis Yeah. Definitely, they've changed! But Woldy has changed to be mess selfish. Buzz helped him further realize that being there for you kid is the most important thing. And if you recall, they never say it's been months since Woody's been played with. The clock toy says that it's the 3rd time this week. Woody has been put in the closet and not been played with. Now we don't know what the previous weeks were like, but we can get a pretty good idea from the shorts. The shorts ALL depict Bonnie absolutely adoring Woody. Playing with him in all her games. And I won't even begin to dissect the Bo Peep short. That would take ages. My point is Woody waited in a toy chest for years, waiting for Andy to need them again. He even encouraged the other toys to do the same. And we know it's been years because they say it multiple times, Andy is all grown up, etc. With Bonnie, they show ONE instance of not picking Woody to play with, and tell us only about the last week. If they wanted to give me the impression of it being months, they should have. Because they didn't. They gave the impression that Woody gave up on Bonnie after a week of no playtime. What happened to Andy's line at the end of the first movie? " Woody will never give up on you. Not ever!" And it was true he waited years with Andy. The only reason he went with Bonnie was because Andy made the choice. Not because Woody just thought it'd be better to go to Bonnie. Woody didn't hide in Bonnie's backpack. He put a message on the box and climbed into the bottom of it with the rest of the toys. Also, Bonnie plays with Woody on the road trip in this movie multiple times. Bonnie loves Woody! It just feels like they wanted to push the story a certain way and did none of the story-telling work to get there. And don't get me started of Forky! I will literally have paragraphs about that troublesome, illogical, insulting monstrosity! But for now, I'm mid-move. I will type up my complete, basically essay and put it in this comment section as soon as I can!
