It does seem like a harassment or anti bullying policy isn't the right tool to punish someone for calling for genocide. A policy against advocating for violence would be a much better fix. This could just cause schools to explicitly ban calls for genocide. If someone told me they got in trouble for harassment or bullying I'd probably ask "who were you harassing" and if they said "no one in particular" I either wouldn't believe them or I'd be pretty confused. I really doubt that these campuses have had a problem with people calling for genocide in the past so it's not surprising they would have a policy to address it. I don't even know if they have a problem with explicit calls for the genocide of jews now. I know some people call for the destruction of the state of Israel and others believe that's calling for genocide. I think the schools should come up with a new policy instead of stretching an existing one past its intended purpose and the clearing meaning of the words. This is also why you shouldn't lead witnesses with your question. A better question would of been "What if any policies do you have around students calling for genocide and if you don't have any are your schools considering them"

Just because one doesn't believe in the actions being taken by the state of Israel against the Palestinian people does not mean that one is anti-semitic. If this is the case, then any government can label any citizen anti(insert government) when a citizen disagrees of their action. Just because one calls another a name does not make it true. Context IS everything. The citizens of Israel have no more divine right to exist than any other person walking the face of this earth to include Palestinian people. We are speaking of common sense. We are walking down a slippery slope if we start believing that any disagreement with the government of Israel makes one an antisemite. In America the very 1st amendment is the right to free speech.

Wait, Penn’s president now says a call for genocide is threatening? When did she discover a credible “context”? That happened fast - faster than her salary slipping away, not that the two are related in any way, shape, or form, right? Amazing how brave she can get when it might cost her money as well as a reputation in ruins.
This situation has helped highlight something that's been happening for a long time now. The right has become the leftists they've always raged against.

& right now the politically "In" thing to bleat is Antisemitism!
Antisemitism is a Real Problem. It's sickening that we live in a world where people think a cabal of Jewish people lurk in the shadows pulling global strings & holding the world hostage via space laser. But just conservatives and CNN have found their common ground and seem to think chastising the IDF or daring to speak about Palestinian babies slain is beyond the pale while they are free to highlight the precious Israeli babies who have lost their lives, doesn't mean that everyone thinks that way. & cynically using the fact that real antisemitism exists as a subterfuge for their political agenda shows how disgusting all manner of bad faith actors are across the board.
Ms. Stefanik is an anti-free speech radical & a censorship hawk. To equate speech with murdering Jews is hateful and demonic.
