    • @soletrail
      @soletrail  Месяц назад +1

      100% agree. That's a lot of the reason I don't give out where I camp. I feel like not giving camping spots away is part of Leave no track. It would be my worst nightmare to camp at a spot and give away the exact location only to go back there and the place is trashed. Anyways appreciate the Jay. Have a great Christmas ☺️✌️☘️☘️

    Watched Jasons video, came and watched yours & subscribed. Then you talk of Lex, and i’d have subscribed 100 times more if I could. I feel you there man.
    We currently have 5 dogs (4 1/2 westies!) from 15 1/2 yrs, to 5yrs to 3 siblings aged 2. We lost 3 dogs within 4 months before we got our 5yr old. Was horrendous - all old aged (15 - 17 yrs, x2 rescued at 13yrs). Nothing prepares you for the loss of a soul dog though.
    Our 5yr old is another soul dog, never thought we’d be blessed with a second. Her four puppies were born with ‘issues’, our friend has one, we kept 3. Little monsters the three of them 😂❤ love them to bits.
    Any man that loves his dogs as you do is a good heart in my book.
    Here’s to many more trails with Lex ‘clipped on’.

      Aw thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Appreciate it. And 5 dogs. Wow.. well done you. There is something about rescue dogs that melts my heart. Freya had a very tough life before I got got her.. I had to sleep on a blow up bed for 2 weeks with her until she settled. She's a beauty and I feel she knows she's safe now.
      As for lex. Honestly there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her. I had her for 18 years. She was up every mountain in Ireland with me. Such a lovely soul.. hardest day of my life being nosey to nose with her at the end. But true love make you take the pain for her at the end.
      You might enjoy this.. on the anniversary of lex passing I made a video for the animal welfare to help them. And in the video you can see when I 1st met Freya. Her name was Nicky then. ruclips.net/video/oysNM83f9R0/видео.htmlsi=4qOEmoSmftx2TsXh

    • @miarosie
      @miarosie 19 дней назад

      @ thank you, i’ll go and watch it now. My partner is a vet and two of our rescues belonged to elderly clients who could no longer care for them. The westie lived with an elderly lady in a flat who couldn’t get her up & down to go out to pee. The other lass was a corgi x lab. Most beautiful gentle eyes and lips. Her owner developed Alzheimer’s and had to suddenly go into care. She was an absolute sweetheart. It is the trust they find, the relief in knowing they’re safe now - going to be fed. Rosie went into the garden every night to holler, letting everyone in the neighbourhood know she now had her very own garden. After 13 years in a flat.
      Would never have kept three, but one had serious issues and had x3 surgeries before she was 3 weeks old. Shes coping very well now. One has a leg issue which will need surgery and is ‘on the spectrum’ - bloody adore him. The last one has a wonky tail but gorgeous lol.

    Tough camp that. A lesser camper (me) would've packed it in, or not gone out in the first place!
    Here's a q. though for you; why do you favour the alcohol stoves over gas stoves? To my mind, they have slower boil times are harder to control and have neither handy piezo ignition or convenient off valves to safely turn off. Their only plus is their relative silence which I think is overrated when you're in the middle of nowhere to begin with!
    What am I missing? I have one alcohol stove but when it took 10 minutes to boil a cup of water in my back garden, I vowed never to bring it out in the field! My MSR Windburner would've boiled that in

      @@wadirunner howdie. Thanks for the comment. Tough Camp is right but had great company so tis all good.
      Regarding the alcohol stove. No idea why I love them so much. I agree with you, the sound doesn't bother me about a gas stove but I do like the silence of the alcohol stove. "Not the deciding factor". I just love the simplicity of the alcohol stove and it always reminds me to slow down and take a few minutes. Boil time doesn't bother me, in fact it helps me stay present for some reason. I also love watching the flame. Bit weird I know 🤣 I have a few gas stoves, the soto wind master which I love and the MSR pocket rocket.
      It's all down to individual likes. Alcohol stoves are so good in the cold as well.

    Trick for the coffee is to put it in the bottom of the cup. Pour over the boiling water and steep it. The grounds will sink and can be quickened up with a couple of drops of cold. That is the way they drink it in the Baltics...
    As Im not as fit as before and carrying injuries, family got me a garmin messenger. That way Im not bothered about phone connections. Ive had phones stop working in Wicklow winters. It can send a pre written message to say all is well or give out an sos.
