Yes, it's very true, Gloria DeHaven didn't play the Hollywood game. Good girls just didn't play that game. There were enough of those "types" that would do anything for a role. For Gloria, it meant if she couldn't make it on talent alone, then the career wasn't worth having in the first place. For the time she was on screen, it was always pure bliss for her numerous fans, who loved to watch her sing and dance up a storm. Even in a film like I'll Get By which had top billing by June Haver, it was Gloria who stole the thunder from right under Haver's nose. Her singing, dancing and acting prowess were always winning streaks in films. During the 40's and 50's, Gloria starred in quite a few musicals like Yes, sir that's my bay, Two tickets to Broadway, So this is Paris to name a few.. She didn't decline dramatic parts when they came her way. Gloria was married to heart-throb actor, John Payne for a few years. Gloria lived till the ripe old age of 92. About the longevity in her life, she once remarked "Don't count the years in your life, but the life in those years". In other words, Gloria lived a full happy life and, no, she didn't find the need to compromise to achieve her life's goals.

Hey Karine, I was wondering if you would do a video on these 3 celebrities? Michelle Pfeiffer, Janet Jackson and or Bette Midler? Please disregard my request if I haven’t researched your previous videos because you already have. I don’t know your favorite color , but here’s a ❤ for your brief biopics on my favorite celebrities and the ones I was unaware of but now I’m a follower because you kept enlightened me. Peace and love to you the beautiful lady who speaks about beautiful people 🌹🌼.

I enjoyed that. Someone, I'm not so familiar with but what a fascinating lady. Nice to know that she had a bit of class & didn't write a 'tell all' book later in her career. I suppose with being quite ahead of her time & moving to the stage & TV, she didn't really need to publish her memoirs. Good for her for moving along with the times. It works, doesn't it? That's why people still love Kylie Minogue. Another great video Karine. 🧡💙

Karine.... I fool with you lol... What I like about this channel more than anything is the GRACE you give.. Life be LIFE-ING and everything isn't what it seems... You find a way to humanize those that would usually get nothing but a side eye... It's not easy to find a voice in this yt world because at the end of the day there are so many channels doing short docs but your beauty segments and your Grace for your subjects set you apart in a good way.... Amazing channel.

I met Gloria way back in the late 60s when she was married to Dick Fincher owner of "Fincher Oldsmobile" in Miami Florida. I was about 12 at the time and my father was the general manager of that dealership. We were invited to their house several times over the years and I found her to be very warm and friendly, not at all self absorbed, she never at any time even mentioned that she was an actress, let alone a very well known and admired movie star. --- Great reviews btw, no bias no bs, just the facts as you know them.

Your editing is top drawer, nicely done and the best part of your talents, you present them with respect. Hollywood is clearly satanic, always will be. I was wondering if you covered the show Amos and Andy.

Karine, if there's any one who does her home-work well, its you!!! Those were certainly a bunch of some never-seen-before photos of sweet Gloria. Whether she was blonde or brunette, that happy face of Gloria was inescapable. Karine, how about favoring me with my request for a video on Lisa Gaye, my top fave. I am positive with your position and contacts, you can get your hands on any number of scans of Lisa from her films Rock around the clock and numerous TV shows: Perry Mason, Sea Hunt, Surfside Six, 77 Sunset Strip, Hawaiian Eye, Bourbon Street Beat, Northwest Passage, How to marry a millionaire, Hank, Bachelor Father, The double life of Henry Phyfe, Mod Squad, The Bob Cummings Show, Burns & Allen, Zorro, and on and on. The list is interminable. Here's hoping and fingers crossed!

Once you sign those contracts. They own you. Those were non- negotiable, very very thorough contracts. In those days. Women had it hard PERIOD. Especially to make decent wages. Or enough to actually live and support themselves. They were in a completely different era. Things like political correctness did not exist. So, It's not for us to judge them. We should celebrate them, for paving the way in part of how far women came since those days.
