Michael Great Everybody also Members Update. Great to see the Bradford Cathedral 3D Mock Up coming along. It reminds me of the old Victorian Era that called many of Stations and Large Mills Cathedral of Power. Really a lot to think about. Ian
If you want the full copper verdigris effect use Windsor and Newton's Galeria varnish! It's definitely not inkjet print friendly. That said, it is absolutely fine on everything else I've applied it to. Cheers
That’s true; the ones along the back have only been made part-relief to fit on the back scene. The ones along the front are the exact scale based on measurements of the real things in Ilkley and Shipley, i.e. no compression, and the mocked-up cathedral still dwarfs these.
Thank you so much Michael! The members video list is great and I’m looking forward to exploring the uploads - wish I’d become a member ages ago! All the best!
Beautiful, Michael, just beautiful!!! Thank you for the update on your absence, but of course, you have other commitments in your life. What an great opportunity to enjoy London with your sons, and one of your friends from here. Thank you for the positivity that you share through your work and your videos! Not only are they a joy to watch, they certainly provide inspiration to me when stuck for ideas on how to execute certain building concepts.
Well, it is an interesting interpretation of the phrase "cathedrals of railway" for railway stations. As long as your marvellous mock-up does make way for some trains now and then, everything is okay. Keep up the fine work, Michael. All the best Valentin
I always use Vallejo Premium matt varnish. It is relatively cheap, easy to apply and seems to go a long way. It is also the 'mattest' matt I have found. I would certainly recommend you giving it a go.
Well worth waiting for. Was up in Bradford last Month and took a good look at the full size Bradford Cathedral. Our Parish Church in Ringmer is a listed building 13th Century and refused permission for solar panels. Noted Bradford Cathedral gained permission.
Idea: consider doing your varnishes on a test printout, with various colours etc printed on it; at the same time keep a control printout with no varnish. Date them and store. Then you will know over time how each varnish changes appearance.
I have been using the PermaJet PermaProtect for a while. Not done any controlled testing, but it seems OK. I apply to prints, once they are dry to give protection during build. It takes bending / folding OK (better than the AK interactive Matt which cracked)
The cathedral is certainly going to be another epic build Michael, have you seen Dylan's latest bit of Dylington nonsense 'School Holidays' it's quite a fun video....cheers James 🙂👍
Thank you James. Yes, I see most of his videos and I like them all 👍🏻 but don’t always comment. I watched his latest last night actually. I love the stop motion presentation style. It’s unique in model railway channels and really works well.
@Chandwell Hi Michael, I'm pleased you're enjoying his videos, and he's doing well with his 009 build. In fact, he's been to take his layout to a 009 exhibition in Mansfield next month. So fingers crossed he'll get confirmation and he will be there 🙂👍
I wish I had half of your imagination, patience and skills. You are an absolute master of your hobby. Will Chandwell ever be finished? what will you move on to?
Aw, if you wanted tricks and tips, I could have done yah a mad scouse accent one. I'll be doing a video next week showing off the meters and feet unit addition for people who do 1:1 scale building plans which might be interesting for you.
The more the better!!! In fact, I would love to feature you on Chandwell or do a collaboration or something. Maybe you could say something about upcoming features or your ongoing work for my audience, many of who would be interested yet don’t watch your videos. Definitely will be interested in the metres and feet update.

The scenery on this railway is unparalleled.
Thank you very much!
you can't put the cathedral there, it will block the railway
Where WILL it go though?
Impressive build so far always knew it would be. Looking forward to the Inkscape video also. Always happy to learn new tricks.
Coming soon!
Impressed with your work ✨✨
Thank you! Cheers!
Hell, you come a long way with the mockup. It will surely be an impressive finished building. Arthur
Can’t wait to see it.

Haha! Oh dear! Thanks for sharing!
The buildings on the layout although also in N-scale, have been compressed. This helps explain why the cathedral looks so huge - no compression.

Great video Michael. That cathedral is certainly a challenge. Good luck. Roy.
Thank you Roy.

Yes they are quite proud of their solar panels. There’s a display inside showing how much energy they are creating.
good update on layout thanks for the vid you do on channel
Thanks for watching!
Nicely done,,thanks for sharing,,😊
Thank you!
Wow, that’s already very impressive!!!
Bravo Sir!
Thank you very much!

That's a very good idea, and one that I've used for other varnishes. I will be doing the same with this one.
thnx

Did you get the slight gloss sheen?
@@Chandwell yes. Still needs to be finished with a coat or 2 of AK ultra Matt when model built

Thank you. Chandwell the layout will be finished when I run out of space but Chandwell the town will provide a lifetime of inspiration for me.
Blimey . . . . I knew the cathedral was going to be big but not that big. 😮
It’s a big’un!
Hi Michael, could you advise the process for how to become a member of your channel? I can’t see a link to follow for this. Cheers Paul
Hi Paul! This link should take you to where you need to be: www.youtube.com/@Chandwell/membership
I'm looking forward to your 'Outbuilding of Truth' experiment with the new varnish
One more on the to-do list!
Hi where did the PermaPROtect come from I also have the same problem with the Green tint
It was from the PermaJet website. The 250ml one always says "available for backorder" but it is available. They fill a pot on demand.
what a busy summer, especially when most are on vacation at the moment ?!
Yes! Very busy!

Liquitex matte medium
Thanks.
Might be worth trying matt modpodge
I've not tried that - thanks for the tip.
We regret a delay to services at Chandwell, this is due to Cathedrals on the line.
