No one wakes up in the morning and says, “my goal is to have a really painful day”. Most people spend literally their whole life trying to escape and avoid pain. Take a look at our lives. While there are some things we do specifically because we are following our joy, the bulk of things we do in our life, we do specifically to avoid and escape pain. This dysfunctional relationship with pain, does not serve us. In this episode, Teal explains the meaning of pain and helps us to improve our relationship with it.

Thank you for this. I've been on disability for 7 years now and my life has pretty much become nothing but the avoidance of more pain. I was assigning a painful meaning to the pain and just a shift in perspective has already caused the release of some physical pain as well as apparently long held emotional pains. I feel lighter and the more I apply this approach to the pains of my life, the more healing I experience. I release all judgment of pain and apologize for every time that my ego allowed me to project my pain and judgment onto others. Thank you for this wisdom. I will share it freely.

Teal you are my true teacher for this, among other things. This teaching on pain really hits right now. After listening to her “loneliness meditation”, I was shown that it’s not “too hard”, I can completely be with and show love to the pain and loneliness I experience.. in fact it shows me that I am not alone, I need myself and I have myself, I can love and trust myself to not abandon me. I count for more than I thought. I feel significant healing. I can understand the natural function of pain, why it turns to suffering, and feel more called to live for the purpose of joy.
*The purpose or function of pain is that: pain calls for the attention of our conscious presence.
    * pain transforms suffering into awakening and tells us what we need to know to heal and be back in alignment. It is a biofeedback system

Great video. As someone said below, if there is desire there will be pain (attraction/ aversion), therefore it is in the loosening of attachment to the play of these forces... if it can be done. It’s a good reminder that we could learn to be more at ease with the tension of our pain. Teal pin- points how pain can cause us to self- abandon and I find this important to understand because rather than becoming more conscious, pain usually causes more unconsiousness. These days, it’s well-known to follow our joy but this can also mean that when we feel pain, it feels horrible in comparison. Along with following joy, being aware or learning how to be alright with those initial pangs of suffering in ourselves and others is a good thing since what is not resisted will not persist. As I listened to her voice, I was also reminded that there is a quiet surrender to this, a trust, which can turn habits around. Thank-you Teal for what you offer to our understanding.

addiction is a huge aspect of running from pain. why are so many people not pain filled and glide through life like its a cake walk and they accomplish everything they dream to achieve? my sister is that way, im the loser of the family with past addiction issues and i go through pitts and peaks. now the thought of suicide is present and not like before when i would wish it but would never imagine it, at least once a week now. i would never do it but its there. ive been on the spiritual path for almost two years but i guess i never actually looked pain in the eyes and let it linger. this video has helped me see something i wasnt seeing.

This really speaks to me.. Ive struggled so much over the yesrs and have become so identified with my pain that it just became normal and i assumed that this is just what i have to deal with and im also empathic and i felt so long that maybe im just feeling the pain of the world and those around me,as well as the pain leftover from a difficult childhood and trauma. It has been teaching me though and more and more im realizing that it is asking for my attention and it is guiding me to love myself more. It is yelling at me constantly because i am not spending my energy in the right ways and am stuck in patterns ive struggled with for years. The biggest factor though is the shame i hold and feeling inadequate or unworthy,or a bad person, and physically unattractive. Somehow thoughts can make you believe that you deserve the pain youre in and you have to feel it all until it goes away. I have consciously been doing spiritual work and peeling back layers of myself for years andit feels neverending. But i realize now that until i find my inner fire and desire to fully LIVE and reclaim my power and find my voice and face my fears and no longer shrink, i will be experiencing pain and not be fully open to giving or recieving love. For me this is a solar plexus issue and it is around not feeling strong in who i am,not having enough self direction and regulation and being the passenger in my life rather than driving it and achieving the things and taking action toward empowered self. I deserve it and so do all of us no matter what the past has told us and no matter what other people think.

Thank you, Teal! :) pain has been my worst emotion for me to deal with. Even at a point if avoidance, I made bad decisions out of spontaneity and can be costly. Asmr has nothing to do with spirituality...it's simply a sedative state of relaxation...the word asmr simply implies that it can be induced in a person...to a degree...against their own will..which is a form of manipulation...I doubt she'd think very highly of the phenomenon...

1234abcd i think the original comment was alluding to the fact that she speaks in a very soft, slow and quiet voice- similar to that of ASMR videos. i've actually had a similar thought. there must be a reason she is choosing to speak in this tone of voice. she does it because it is calming, and maybe to some, even pleasurable.

In ancient times when the Greeks wanted to take over a rival empire, across the seas (relative to the location). They sailed there and immediately upon arrival, they would burn their boats. This meant that there was no going back, only two possibilities, its either they conquer the city or they are dying. I agree, pain is one of those things that compel you to succeed.

That's a pleasant spin on pain; to acknowledge the growth it's producing rather than focus on the hurt it may be causing...ironically I had a big disappointing, hurtful, argument with a loved one tonite. This really helped put my emotions into focus. #SeeingClearly #SelfActualizing

All this is so true in my life.
Throughout my life the really big lessons I have learned, the lessons that have ultimately changed me and changed my life for the better, have been the people and or situations that have been the most painful.
I really do believe that is exactly why these people came into our lives and I for one, am so grateful to them.
I have been so unwilling to acknowledge the pain that many times I have let things persist until it feels like I have been hit in the head with a 2x4 repeatedly because the Creator is trying so desperatly to get my attention. I just continue to stuff it down so I don't have to look at it until I am left with no choice but to look at it and acknowledge it or to face dire consequences for not doing so.
    Thank you sweet Teal.
    Much Light & Love❤

Thanks Teal. Great video. I'm currently in "pain management" haaaa. I have many orthopedic surgeries, some completed and some waiting. This video has helped me a lot as I have just realized that I have all these injuries because I have been allowing others to 'let" me do all the physical labor of the family, and I have not stood up for myself. So, hence, the physical pain does seem to be there, getting worse until I cannot ignore it and now am forced to face the cause, ha! I was thinking, how do I have all the medical problems at once, worsening, worsening, until it forced me to stand up for myself and communicate my own needs to my family (all men).
I am certain it is not a coincidence that I stumbled onto your video. All this time I have been thinking the pain is strictly a physical thing but now I see, as you said, it is my body and spirit yelling at me telling me I must stand up for myself as I have been putting off for a number of years. Thanks so much Teal for all your great work!!! I am one of the people you don't know but you have helped me tremendously. Thanks have a great day!

Hi Teal, we are 31 now, happy belated birthday :) I've been watching your videos since finding the how to heal your emotional body video a few months ago and it's helped me quite a bit and I've surprised myself by also uncomfortably shedding many unnecessary parts of myself since then. I didn't realize there were still so many doors to open inside and walk thru. You've provoked thoughts that have made me do 180s on victimization etc. It's separated me from many people but not in a bad way. I still try to balance all your info w my heart for what feels right and what doesn't. Mostly what doesn't feel right is bc i walked thru that door at some point already. I wanted to tell u we are both women born in the same week and our faces look very similar even tho I'm Asian. Our childhoods were v similar too w rampant abuse, and I have a son too since I was younger. I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same age w everything I've learned watching your videos. A lot of times you'll post something that's been on my mind and then you'll wear a color that reminds me of something else from that week :) I did watch this video tho bc I've been having horrible physical pain for almost a year. In this time I've done some to try to repair emotional things which I would have possibly ignored forever if my body hadn't stopped me w pain for the last year. But idk how to get thru it. I want to be able to dance and run again and I'm not sure what I need to do. Although I watched your video on emotional healing so long ago, it's v hard for me to dig in there bc there's been so so much suppression my entire life. Sometimes I'll spend a whole hour just to accurately describe the emotion I'm feeling, not even getting to step two or three. It feels like my emotional body almost doesn't trust me bc I've ignored it so long. And there's so much work to do and no shortcuts I guess. Anyway, sending u & everyone reading this love from me and my partner and our boy from sunny California

I am having a very hard time understanding this concept. I have been in chronic pain since I was 12 years old and have only been cured in the last two months. My life has changed drastically and while I'm happier than I've ever been, my body suffers for it. I work out too hard and barely eat because my body isn't in pain. Perhaps it just hasn't caught up to me yet, but when I was in pain, my body was being cared for better even though it was a fight to get through the day.
While I agree it's a mindset, contractions have a light at the end of the tunnel (ha) and you know something good will come from it so it's not a good example. You are surrounded by people talking you through the pain and encouraging you to get past it, where as people in chronic pain suffer alone.
I couldn't imagine embracing something that hurts and disrupts your life every day...

Since pain is a part of being a human, and is a daily occurrence, a good relationship with pain is very beneficial.

WOW. This video is (spookily) very serendipitous in my life right now. Two nights ago I channeled the exact same message from my guides as I have been in a lot of pain lately. I'm kinda blown away right now.

Understanding pain can make it so that one doesn’t self-sabotage (perceive that if they feel some pain that they will die, and so one lines up with their resistance instead of taking self-loving action).

I agree with all of this, well spoken - but a life time of pain with all manners of strategies from denial to embrace will be very testing on a person's endurance. Long term pain can make you feel that you're never really present in life. It can prevent you from feeling emotions fully even when you have opened them up, and to have normal sensations within your body in response to your environment. Many people have tried everything but not managed to readdress the complex imbalance that's causing it. This really is a whole other chapter and requires some special attention, as people are getting more and more afflicted with conditions such as fibromyalgia and ME. I would hope Teal addresses these kinds of illnesses with some serious consideration some time very soon!

as someone who has chosen to endure a rather significant pain of chronic dis-ease (severe eczema, to be exact) I can very much attest! If you (whoever you may be) find that are experiencing something similar and need someone to talk to about it, I may not be Teal but I am certainly available to share what I heave learned with you :) Learning to love what you are experiencing can be extremely difficult at first, and sometimes the 'live' input from another can make all the difference in how we see things. feel free to PM me

Thank you Teal you were in my dream last night and this was the very question I wanted to ask you. We played with my crystals instead and talked about my aura. My Love Eternal .

That is a interesting way of looking at pain. I agree we have to let pain come in but i think not allow it to control us. Just enough to let it fly off gently like a butterfly. I will try and do that by living in the present rather than pondering too much into the past or future.Thank you.

Hey Teal ... thanks for sharing your perception of pain. It's funny ... pain, like love, is difficult to define on a rational level. Have a great week Miss Swan.
