Its relatively low cost and you get to cool a lot of camera models with it. While it's not as powerful as a Peltier cooler, it's a lot more simple and uses almost no power.
Lovely design Rouz. Since the camera will cooled by the ambient air, I wonder how much efficient in terms of temperature drop with the fan on on a hot day. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you! Glad you like it. The cooler can drop temps quite a bit when its cold. On hot days it will still stop the camera from overheating by multiplying the surface area and allowing it to shed heat.
Dew is an issue with TEC as these are not sealed and anything below ambient will cause issues. Also, the power consumption of this will be 10x less than that of a TEC color.
Hi Rouz, thanks for the video. A question about condensation. How to you prevent it from getting on/inside the camera? Every consider putting a SilcaGel bag inside the OTA near the camera, and then remove it once the camera has gotten to temp?
You normally supply power to the ASIAIR. With the male to male - you can plug this cooling kit into the one of the outputs of the ASIAIR to power the fan. There is a USB version that will plug into the USB port of the ASIAIR or any other device. That doesnt need the 12v male to male.
did you ever try a peltier plate to supplement this? people have gotten encouraging results but I havent found anyone who's run it longer than like 20 minutes with one. just quick testing has shown the peltier plate will reduce the camera housing to well under ambient, but it will increase the heat side a lot, so i'm not sure if you need a larger heatsink or not, and how that would affect usage over a couple hours.
A Peltier cooler will go below ambient that will cause dew inside the camera and on the sensor. These cameras are not sealed and will get ruined in that case.
Man this has to break the code on expensive cameras with pre installed cooling fans.
Clear skies ✨️

i built one using TEC controlled down to -20C and it does cause condensation , but i will be buying one of these for my ZWO585MC planetary camera.

Hi Rouz do you sell just the standard 12v female plug

As these are air cooled and not TEC. They don't go below ambient so dew can not form anywhere.
how does the male to male adapter for asiair work? is it getting power from the air? are we supply power to the air? how does that work?

Hi Rouz, tried to find this cooling fan online and couldn't. Can you tell me where I can buy it or how to search for it? Thanks
Hi John, it should show up on Google. The link is:

hi, does this have any issue with wiring? as in the wire becomes loose or shortening connection?
We haven't had any problems or issue with any of the many kits shipped globally. User feedback has been very positive.
Thank you so much 🌹
Glad you liked it!
Why don't you use TEC?
A TEC will cause lots of condensation in these cameras as they are not sealed. The moisture will damage the electronics.
@@RouzAstro so let me know effect of only fan on the sensor parameters eg: noise
