Like your programs. ~ quick personal comment though, RE Westies, I have never stripped the coats of my Westie pets, they get a daily brush, but I've found my dog's only really shed hair after a bath: towel or dryer, drying.
While quite beautiful, most of these dogs do require quite a bit of grooming. The Boston Terrier requires very little grooming and hardly sheds at all.
All Boston Terriers are affected by the inherited defect which causes brachycephaly. This is why many airlines don’t allow them to travel on their planes due to risk of respiratory issues in flight.
@@jt8142 Some have longer faces than others. When I was young ( forever ago) Bostons weren't nearly as deformed. All of the squash faced dogs have been to ruin over the last few decades.
I have a dog idk the breed but he has so much hair it’s crazy he is a rescue do I didn’t know what to expect at first 🤣🤣 but I don’t regret taken him in but I would appreciate some tips on how to handle the shedding
There's more to hypoallergenic dogs than simply the hair; it also has to do with certain proteins in the dog's dander, skin cells and mucous membranes. To make a comparison, there's a hypoallergenic horse, the Bashkir Curly Horse - most (but not all) of them do have curly hair, but the decisive factor has to do with DNA proteins, and this special quality resulted from a random protein mutation in mustangs. As an example, I'm very allergic to most dogs - I ended-up in hospital after just being in the same room with a Bernese Mountain Dog - yet I have a shih tzu and I can sleep with her with no reaction. If a lab even presses it's nose against me, I instantly get an itchy welt, whereas my girl can lick me and nothing bad happens. No dog is truly "non-allergenic" - hypo means "under" or "less-than," which simply means hypoallergenic dogs are less-likely to cause reactions than others. Some people mistakenly believe that short-haired dogs are less likely to cause allergies, when nothing could be further from the truth.
Maltese do not shed either. They have a single coat, similar to human hair, and they need you to brush them a couple of times a week, whether you keep their hair long or short, to keep the natural oil distributed. They have no undercoat to shed, but when you bathe them, be sure to rinse out all the shampoo, or their long hair tends to tangle. They have a pink skin, and also do not have the typical doggy odor.
@@joycehanson977 thank you so much for the info!! That sounds like the dog for me. I love to Brush hair so I won't mind at all brushing their hair. Merry Christmas
@@shellebates2648 You're so welcome. I hope you find a wonderful little companion. Maltese are wonderful. They want to be close to you and make you happy. The puppies are so tiny, and can get under your feet, just trying to stay close to you, so watch your feet. When they're on your lap, brush them, play with their feet, handling each toenail, so they will be easy to groom. A mixture of 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 rubbing alcohol works great for cleaning the ears. If they ever get an ear infection or mites, putting coconut oil into the ears twice a day for a week or two, works wonders. You have a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
Short haired terriers are a good choice for low shedding and next to no grooming. Our Jack Russell will leave a little fur behind on clothes but we don't have to get out a vacuum or pay a groomer.

Not at ALL hypoallergenic. They shed like crazy. Short hair does make a dog easier to groom, but it has no bearing on the proteins in the skin, hair and mucous membranes, which are what cause the allergic reactions. You will DIE when you see how much a GSD sheds. It will shed just brushing past you in the hall - you'll look down and have hair all over your pant-leg, and on every surface the dog sits on. Some people say it's better if they're brushed regularly, but it's one thing to say you'll do it, and another thing to actually do it. The German Shepherd is a nice breed, but there are other large, non-shedding breeds, including the Portuguese Water Dog, the Giant Schnauzer (quite similar in temperament and trainability to a German Shepherd), the Standard Poodle, the Airdale Terrier, and the Black Russian Terrier. Then, of course, there are a number of dog breeds crossed with standard poodles (doodles), which hopefully results in a hypoallergenic dog (though this doesn't always happen).

I have 2 chihuahuas. They shed. Long and short haired. Little maintenance, though. Cute!!
Deb Willms - that’s not a very healthy chihuahua then. I have a chihuahua, and he barely sheds at all. If a chihuahua sheds that much, it needs to be seen by a veterinarian.
My chihuahuas shed, regularly visit their vet and are very healthy!! Eat only the best, too. My mini poodle, also very healthy, never shed and my eyes were not bothered by him.
