A fun fact about Daniele De Rossi: De Rossi placed his World Cup medal in the coffin of Pietro Lombardi in Florence. The 92-year-old was Italy's kitman during their 2006 triumph and was loved by the players.
In Italy, every argument boils down to two universal truths: each of us is convinced we’re the best chef-right after our mother-and the most brilliant football coach the world has ever seen! 😊
The anecdote of De Rossi being called in to a small room by Lippi to meet with Ferguson is absolutely mind blowing and he says it so casually too. A secret high level meeting during the middle of a World Cup. Incredible story.
@diegomattia4806 staying at Roma had nothing to do with it. If anything, overly loyal players usually get overrated. He rarely gets mentioned in any conversations about the best this or the best that of his era. I'd say he was criminally underrated
@@dky555 The reason is simple: there have been players better than him. It’s not a matter of De Rossi being underrated, as you claim, unless you’re suggesting that Pirlo, Iniesta, and others are on the same tier as him. Don’t get me wrong-I’m Italian, I admire De Rossi both as a player and a person. However, even among Roman fans, few would argue that Daniele ranks among the all-time greatest midfielders if you had to choose one standout player. Anyhow, you are entitled to your opinion..Have a great night! :)
Excellent....!!! What a player's!!! Talking about world football,... eating and drinking together ...!!! Good job boys !! Mio cuore e gallorossio !!! Forza grande ROMA !!!
probably cause they grew up watching Ferguson's united. Same when i meet people of my age (around 30) outside italy they all love AC Milan cause it was the best when they were growing up
Absolutely love to hear Carrick getting his flowers. Completely outstanding footballer. Should have been used a lot more by England earlier in his career, he was exactly what we needed at the time.
Wud take De Rossi all day! Carrick was lucky he had the back 5 he had behind him, as soon as that fell apart people could finally see how bad he was defencively.
Great Italian content, Love to see them interview Baggio . It will be marvellous episode , final of world cup, Fiorentina and Juve plus match against Keane in World Cup 94
What De Rossi said about Boca Juniors is very true, they are the most passionate fans in the world. The 4 oldboys should take a trip to Argentina to see just how incredible the atmosphere in the stadiums compares.
Every club in Argentina has fans like boca the Argentines are a different level I’ve been to a Newells game vs Rosario central the entire city shuts down no shops no busses no taxi’s noting open staff members in the hotel having to get the police involved to get people to and from the stadium 12 security check points to get into the stadium and if you wasn’t wearing a Newells shirt you’d get a lot of abuse.. fantastic country
I think most football fans don’t understand. This is the most underrated midfielder in the world. And for me one of the best He could do everything, defense, offense, pass, shoot left right, good technique (not Zidane of course but better than most 6,8 ) head, long pass, leader, fighter, strong… Loyalty he stayed at Roma : fantastic but we would have loved to see what would have happened if he went to Madrid like his friend Totti. And he’s one of the few that said no to these big clubs, and not always you have a choice or the level to play there.
Just started watching and very excited. He was one of my favourite players in an era when the midfield general had kind of faded. Keane, gattuso, makelele etc had all kind of gone. De rossi (maybe also nigel de jong) was the one standout one still entering his peak and I think he would have been good in england.
Great interview that! Always liked Roma mainly cos of their kits I used to buy 😂 Quality player and comes across quite humble. Rides round Rome in a scooter lol
He's 300% ready for managing an English team I can't see issues with communication that's for sure! Great interview. Would be love to see more Italian legends. So far they have been the most entertaining. And many of them speak English, see Maldini, Pirlo, Cannavaro, Del Piero, Vieri, Gattuso
That goal he scored in the 7-1 champions league game... 😮 still gives me chills. What an incredible player. That was a real golden era for italian midfielders
Absolutely loving these European legend podcasts! A good peak behind the curtain of a world class player. Would’ve been a dream to take him at United in his prime!
Great episode once again. I can see he is the same type of players like Roy Keane. Brilliant on and off the pitch. Always him playing for United as he is that type of character.
These guests have been fantastic on this road trip - amazing communicators and such interesting insights into something different from the usual (ex Man United) guests.
Please The Overlap, you need to keep these guys all the time. And I hope soon, there will be The Overlap on tour again, to discuss with every Football legend in the World. You never wrong to invited the guest, guys 🍻🍻
Roma is a weird one. They have a lot of weight on ther shoulders from a historical point of view ( not football lol ). Objektiv they should be one of the top clubs in europe and italy but they somehow never got into gear. I always felt they should be bigger then they actually are, with more titles.
The issue comes from the mentality of the club. If you asked most Romanisti if they would rather beat Lazio in every possible Derby match during the season or win the Scudetto, they'd probably opt for the former not the latter. Vice versa for Lazio. They are their own worst enemy. A "provincial" attitude, if you will.
@@Natalin0 completely false. Roma fans do not have such a strong anti-lazio mentality. Viceversa for Lazio, being anti-roma is one of the core pillars
Roma lost the chance to become a great club in 84. That damn final changed our history. We miss that winning mentality… Rome is a lazy city and working there is harder
Weird that he didn't mention he wore 16 because of Roy. It's a well known thing in Italy and I thibk even Chiellini mentioned it in the previous episode, I think it would have made for a nice moment

GRANDE CAPITANO/MISTER!! We miss you in Roma! But patience... There will be the time for that again.
Its been amazing being able to listen to De Rossi and Chielini talk at length. Very compelling chats indeed
De rossi is the most roman empire looking guy ever
Francesco Totti EXISTS.
Always thought that of Lawrence Delallio, must be from Italian stock.
You'd know? You were there were you? 💀 Or you get your info from Hollybollocks did you lil kid?
@@Crispi-ws6juwhat gave that away? Maybe the Italian surname Dallaglio😂😂
2004 Francesco Totti , the most aesthetic Italian player ever
Impeccable English and accent for a guy that never had a career there. Good guy, came across really well and of course, what a player
He married British-American and reportedly loves American culture.
This is the most invested I've ever seen Roy Keane he loved this one 2 midfield generals
Yeah, there was some mutual respect going on there!! :)
You can tell he regrets not playing in Italy
He was hooked to the conversation throughout, yes
yeah, quite similar players stylistically and in terms of personality on the pitch.
Of course he would be. De Rossi chose number 16 because of the one and only Roy Keane.
I love how humble these great italian players are.
Daniele is special. I am Neapolitan, and I have always admired him. He is humble, intelligent, and a true warrior on the pitch!
Old school
Roma legend turning up on a scooter, doesnt get more Italian/Roman than that. Great chat, loved it.
So true
He can travel around Rome and no one will recognise him and swarm him everywhere. Genius really
De rossi is the most criminally underrated midfielder of recent times. A genuine world class midfielder and one of the best of his generation.
A fun fact about Daniele De Rossi:
De Rossi placed his World Cup medal in the coffin of Pietro Lombardi in Florence. The 92-year-old was Italy's kitman during their 2006 triumph and was loved by the players.

Ferguson tapping on players. Why am I not surprised?
One of the most coolest badass names in world football for me. Daniele De Rossi! 🔥

Liverpool supporter here , Roma is my 2nd team , love the city and the passion and culture of the people and Totti what a player
Love to hear that man !
One of the most underrated players of his generation 🙌🏻 what a man
