Awarded Female Vocalist of the Year four years running at the Sunday World Entertainment Awards and performing on RTE’s Dancing with the Stars, Cliona Hagan has returned to her roots. Growing up in Co Tyrone, listening to Dolly Parton, one of her biggest musical influences, Cliona has now embarked on a lifelong dream to pay homage to one of the most influential artists of all time. Cliona released The Dolly Parton Songbook album to critical acclaim and has now put together the The Dolly Songbook Show. Cliona tells us all about the show which comes to Belfast’s Grand Opera House on 1st March.
Silent Running were one of Ireland's biggest musical exports in the 1980s releasing 3 albums and a host of singles before folding after the third album. During this time they headlined numerous nights at London's legendary Marquee club and toured extensively across Europe and the USA with some of the biggest names in the music business including Simple Minds, Robert Palmer, Talk Talk, and Stevie Van Zandt. They are now back after a 30 year break! Ahead of their gig at The Limelight on 3rd March lead singer Peter Gamble joins us in the studio and we also feature the new single ‘Walking Wounded’.
A musical written by a 15-year-old Co Antrim schoolgirl will be staged at the McNeill Theatre in Larne on February 25th. Keira Aiken, a pupil at Belfast High School, wrote and composed Bully - A New Musical when she was only 14years old. The talented teenager from Carrickfergus, not only wrote the script, but also the lyrics and composed all of the music as well. Keira’s work is being brought to life by Uplift Performing Arts with all proceeds being donated to NSPCC. Keira Aiken & Ryan Moffett join us in the studio.
They say a way to a person’s heart is through their stomach, which is perhaps why food can play a big role in relationships. With people wanting to impress with cuisine choices on first dates, cooking together for a date night or showing off skills in the kitchen, food is a popular way to spice up a relationship. Latest research by Co-op reveals that on a first date, a quarter (25%) of us choose to wow through food and for those already coupled up in a relationship 37% opt to cook a delicious meal for date night. To discuss this further Laura Tott, the First Dates waitress who won the most recent TV series of Celebrity Cooking School joins us.
Style Consultant Mary McGuigan helps actor and broadcaster Pauline Carville sort out her unwanted outfits. Mary and Pauline also visit Pre-Loved clothes shop The Wardrobe who recently won an Eastside Award.
