- This siren is located in Galax, VA. It has been the Galax Volunteer Fire department's siren for many years (no exact numbers available). The siren is a bit rusty, but is still in full function and is still used by the GVFD.
When I lived in Galax in the late 50's and early 60's, the fire department was in the building below the siren, about a half block off of Main Street. The bells, sounding like bells for changing classes in a school, were on 3 or 4 intersections of Main Street to warn motorists that fire engines might pass their location.
It's cool you can here the house bell at the same time.
Buddy, I never said anything about the siren being a Model 20. I know it's not.
EVERYONE LISTEN UP! THIS IS NOT A MODEL 20, BUT IT IS 3 SIRENS AT AN ANGLE. The sirens are: Fedelcode Model 5 (Active), A FS Model 5 (Active), And a FS Model 5T (Inactive).
That is awesome it sounds amazing
Do you not know the age of this video? This is the old siren community when people called them model 20 sirens.
@Chris Brewington all of our volunteers carry radios and pagers. They know when there's a call 2 minutes before this alarm goes off. This siren is to warn the public that there is fire somewhere, and to be on the lookout for personal vehicles and firetrucks.
That is a Fedelcode Model 20. It is a very rare type of siren. Cool vid and very nice catch!
It’s not. There are three model 5s, A Fedelcode, A 5T, And A 5.
@@Kasey1776 the 5t did not sound but still works (update: fedelcode is dead)
I found this exact building on google maps and there is no model 20 siren. It only looks like a model 20 because of the camera angle. There is actually a Fedelcode model 5, a Federal Signal model 5T, and a Federal Signal model 5 from left to right. Only the 2 single tone model 5's seen to be working. Here is the link of the sirens on google maps from a different view: www.google.com/maps/@36.6625495,-80.9257081,3a,15y,80.94h,96.06t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1siCLAH1RHC0HoHw6VBfP6XQ!2e0!5s20161001T000000!7i13312!8i6656
I visited this setup in May. It turns out that this is NOT, in fact, a Fedelcode Model 20, but rather a unique setup of three different flavors of Federal Signal Model 5 - a Fedelcode, a 5T (not heard here), and a plain old 5. From the angle seen in the video, the Fedelcode is the "top half".
+Siren_Psycho I think one of the 3 doesn't work. Can't remember which one.
thisissparta789789 I suspect it might be the 5T in the middle, but I tried getting a noon blast out of them and failed, so who knows. Perhaps at some point I'll write to the VFD.
Photo won't show up
@@PeachtreeSirens do you have a google maps view?
@SirenTube the fedelcode is dead according to the official usa siren map
This looks like the fire department made their own Dual Rotor by putting up 3 model 5’s
Man that oscillating warbling sound reminds me of the large Moore Oklahoma tornado they have sirens with the warbling sound as heard in one of the videos from the Moore tornado
That was a sick 16V1T-B, which has two choppers spinning at around the same rpm, hence the warble effect.
Moore has what you call *Whelen* sirens
wind up sounds like 3t22
Yea
No way, that's 2 separate motors. The warbling would sound very different if it was reverb.
this is actually not a fedelcode model 20. These are sirens that are stacked up. They are the following: Federal Signal Model 5, Federal Signal Model 5T, and a Fedelcode model 5. The 5t is likely used as a civil defense siren, but the fs and fedelcode model 5s are active as a fire siren.
That's... Not a model 20, it's 3 model 5 sirens. One is a 5, another is a 5T, and the last is a fedelcode, confirmed by side picture.
This siren almost sounds like the new Sentry 16v2t sirens. Wonder if thats where they got the idea?!
Or an ACA/ASC P-50
Not even CLOSE to a P-50.
Lily Dane I was just saying.as it is my opinion not yours, also this is another account so don't think it isn't me
HowDidWeGetHere ? Please tell me this has gotten through to you 4 years later
@@doverpoint1 yes it is. The P50 sounds deep due to not just the motor but the housing design
ITS A REAL FIRE CALL IN THIS VIDEO
Why the hell did they place 10 inch bells on the traffic light posts???
Nice find. I was expecting the dual tone 7/12 port version of it
You mean 9/12? Because that’s the only port they used
@@MasenMonster false
@@Sipex6484 Oooold comment dude.
Is there an actual fire somewhere? Is that why there were bells ringing?
Sounds like it has two independent motors like a new Sentry. I thought that these were built like a 2T22.
is that at a VFD?? And btw I like root beer a LOT better then the dew
Amtrak P098 Productions same Barq’s for the win
It's sound like a P50
Like a v12 engine
Super rare
this is 4 the Fire department its used to call the volunteers .If they get rid of it how will they call the volunteers . They probably dont have the money to upgrade .
Most firefighters have calls sent to their cell phones. The main reason to still have house sirens like these is because cell service doesn't reach everyone all the time especially in an area like Galax is in. Very hilly and mountainous. Where sirens can reach anyone within hearing distance.
the model 20 had 5 sheds, thats not a model 20. it sounds cool though!
Roush Hawley it's a model 20 that has two motors.
It's neither, as I mentioned before it's 3 separate Model 5s, two of which are sounding in this. I have the photos to prove it as well.
@@PeachtreeSirens you beat me to saying it lol
its not a fedelcode model 20, there are 3 sirens
Ooh. Dual-tone. Nice!!! Do I hear fire bells, too?
There nuclear bells and it’s not dual tone
It’s not dual tone. It’s just warbling. And yes those are fire bells.
Aaaaand i just found out THIS IS NOT A MODEL 20. It is 3 sirens aligned in a row.
@@Thunderbolt_7026 nuclear bells? Bruh
@@doohickey-enjoyer forget the comment. FORGET THE FUCKING COMMENT! I LEFT THE SIREN COMMUNITY TWO YEARS AGO
This is not a model 20. there are 2 more sirens behind it. Nice vid tho!
This is not a 20. It’s actually three Model 5’s
Bingo! For once you’re right!
for once lmao
This is three different sirens lined up in a row, not a Model 20. I know it's been said already. But you really should change the title of this video. It's misleading.
Sounds like a 3t22 😗😙😚😘
BTW I was born in Galax
That’s not a Fedelcode Model 20 it’s just a Model 20
It sounds like a Model 5
Or three. Thats actually what it is.
Where is this located?
Rare FS model 20!
No
Sound real good
THUNDERBEAM LOL
Sounds like a Sentry 10V
Um no.
In my opinion it does(it reminds me of one)
10V's are 8 port and this is 12 port. Big difference.
+Christian Garcia Why do you keep saying things like this and then wait for a reply and then say "Oh its my opinion"??
It's almost as if you do for attention or something, I may be wrong but it kind of annoys me if I don't ask
It’s so loud
are model 20's 20 HP?
Yes
Is this siren still in service
Elyse H Yes it is
The sirens are still inservice
The model 20 isn't even active in this video. The sound you hear is 3 model 5s.
The fedelcode is active and the model 5 is also active the only inactive unit is the one in the middle the 5t
Fedelcode died
Bye
Siren Master17 shut the fuck up, no shit it's a model 20, why are you saying bye? Stop the fuckin spam comments you dumb shit. On 90% of all fuckin siren videos I find you're annoying ass is there.
West Babylon has one also
The one in Centereach is probably a Fedelcode model 7
Federal Signal Model 20
Siren Master17 *Fedelcode
