- Fresh Fruit vs Puree | ODK and Funkin Puree review. In the last 10-12 years, I've been a massive advocate for Puree in Cocktails. So in this video i'm taking a look at my favourite brand of Puree which is ODK and why i think it's better than Fresh Fruit. I'm also taking a look at Funkin and pointing out the difference between Funkin and ODK and the likes of Monin. In my eyes, Fresh Fruit will always be better than Puree. So this video i'll explain the differences.

Most cocktail recipes call for some kind of sweetener (e.g. sugar, simple syrup, any other syrup) as its own separate ingredient, so why would you want to screw that up by including additional sugar via the passion fruit puree?
😂🙈 Have you ever thought that these Purees could be the sweetener?! So no need to add Sugar as well. Go and research most Tiki/Tropical recipes. Cocktails are just like cooking... you can play about and substitute other ingredients. That’s all part of the fun...
@@drinkstuff But then I am not controlling how sweet I want it to be, because the sweetener is tied to how much puree I use. So if I want it less sweet, I use less puree, but maybe I would like more puree and still not very sweet. That is the point I am making. I am not new to cocktails and I think most serious bartenders would prefer that mixers like this do not include so much sugar.
@@drinkstuff so if using puree, I skip the simple syrup ? Is that correct please ?
