Motor cycle centre van and my outfit No 26 Davy was my passenger that day😊
New one on me this, never heard of it and its from my era, just googled Alan duffas (still going as m/c dealer) he's had quite a chequered history,.
A wonderful piece of history, I hope it says on the Tube! So many known faces there, some still racing and some sadly no longer with us. My Passenger Iain Bell and my first 'Park with our sidecar getting checked @4.48 - double denim was all the rage then! 😁
I was walking beside the track at Raith that day.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video happy times Beverage Park on Saturday then Gask Airfield on the Sunday those were the days....
Looks like a slightly bigger Aberdare circuit! Thanks for posting
How amazing would it be to re introduce this. Bring lots of money into the town, I assume the H&S mob would never allow it though.
'Chappie' Chapman being interviewed with his Velocette. I remember his wife Binky in race control at Knockhill. Took no crap from anyone.
Thank you for sharing this , an excellent insight into racing as it was !
Just wish it was this way now. , the sport in this raw form was real and exciting, the flavour of which is sadly gone forever , brilliant footage well put together!
Alan duffas l remember his daughter vicky from back in the day
Thanks for sharing. I never raced here but did 5 or 6 meetings at Knockhill in 1980/81
As a getme..... in the late 60's and early 70s for my brother John and John Caven I well remember the racing transport vans, Ford Thames and Commers .The pits was wonderfully entertaining with charming insults and terms of endearment and a great cameraderie. On occasion a rival could loan an essential spare to help you out.The twostrokes were on the rise at that time but I loved the throaty gasps and roars of the fourstrokes.Gimme the plugkey! Are the beans ready yet?!
I'm from just south of the Forth and was out tootling on the bike a few years ago and discovered this park. Never knew anything about the history of racing here, thanks for the vid...
I remember it well I was fourteen at the time
At least two meetings at Beveridge Park were televised. Think it was BBC?
The boy sitting on the 2 wheels racer is now a slap head
Brings back memories this does, was at this meeting and still have the race programme from the day. 19 years old on my Suzuki GS550.
Are you related to Ronnie Mann who used to race in the 125 cc class. He did race at Croft when I was starting out in 1978.?
I worked for Ronnie as a courier back in the day when he owned Roadrunner. He was Scottish 125cc Champion, raced the TT and even raced at a Silverstone Grand Prix in 125cc. He told me he couldn't get slicks, he was still on treaded race tyres so he approached hed Barey Sheene for help, being a big name. Couldn't help, so he fell off trying to keep up with guys on slicks he knew he was faster than. He loved his music too, maga stereo system. He also had a brother, Harry, who had a garage in Kirky.
Memories lol.
I went to Beveridge Park many times with Wattie Brown.
Hi there, yes I'm Ronnie's son. We were at Knockhill last weekend and we were given this on DVD so I tidied it up and put it on youtube. Glad it brought back some happy memories for everyone. 😎
@@chequeredflagracing My dad says there a British round at Croft and he used to do that. :)
@jme101soul Nice to hear he's still with you. Wanted to attend Knockhill but the 4 hour drive put me off. Wonder how long it took in the CF Bedford van I used in the early 80's?
Before my time but I think I spy my dad's mate Peter Robertson in the 200cc race.
How you doing mate?
oh man i remember hearing them from my house in Woodlands Road as a child of the seventies
