I got the IBM Model M version, my wife and I just deep cleaned out room and rearranged the whole thing. I woke up this morning and saw my keyboard on the desk and was just so happy.
With the super button cabling I belive with the large size your ment to run it behind your desk with the cable and route them back up to make it look more clean
IMO the large buttons are designed to be used at a distance hence the long cable. So asking for a 15cm cable will cut off many users who prefer to use it as gaming pads from a distance.
@@qubio2908 ohhhh okay - I understand how you could use them that way. It definitely didn't come across that was their intended purpose or whether they would survive being trodden on for long. 🤔 Hmmmm
@@iamthegamingnerd Technically they have normal switches inside of them (switches are replacable), so they should survive for long enuff. @@iamthegamingnerd afking in runescape, at first I thought the big buttons were silly but after a little thought, any game that requires simple repetitive imputs, this would be so perfect.
I just got the same keyboard. My only issue is the US glyphs. Im sticking with the UK layout and can't find any replacement caps that match to change them. Small note, those red buttons (the chonky ones), you should try playing time crysis and using them as foot pedals :D
AHH yes. I do agree with the US/UK but luckily I've typed for a while so most is muscle memory but it can be annoying granted. And TIME CRISIS... what a game when it was in arcades. I loved that game - always dreamt of having an arcade of it when I grew up.
A retro setup is supposed to be messy. There were no "hiding cables" back in the day. If you keep a clean table, you are missing out on the retro experience!
finally someone did a review where the reviewer used the actual keyboard and used it for gaming. Mine is coming in a few days so excited about it. I think that extra macro keys are meant for the feet? IDK I think it's more efficient that way.
Someone else mentioned this and I can definitely see it ... but what a waste? They look so cool I want them on my desk but the long wire just runs it 🥺
@@iamthegamingnerd I have the keyboard right now and it's magnificent I almost cried. I'm using the macros with my feet and used it on gaming, very effective. For me it's not a waste I value the experience over the esthetic. Not really a keyboard enthusiast. It's my first time using a hot swappable keyboard since I got tired of keyboards from logitech giving up on me. Though I can see why it would be a waste for you. Maybe place it at the side of your keyboard vertically or place it in front of you before the keyboard?
You MUST get the 8BitDo Retro 18 Mechanical Numpad. It magnetically attaches to your existing 8BitDo keyboard (on most models, I believe the first run of 8BitDo retro keyboard did not have magnets for the numpad).
I looked up on reddit, it seems that the keyboard saves the settings from the windows software and it should work just fine, although yeah the software is windows only so I guess you either dual boot or try to wine your way into making it work? I'll be buying one soon and I really want it to work on linux.
Honestly if I ever have unnecessary cables clogging up my desk what my solution would be is to just loop them around behind the stand of my screen and use that to keep them mostly straight and looking professional. Kinda like: - | | | | | | | | | \/

I love the new commodore 64 version of this keyboard
Wish the macro pad was just 3.5 to 3.5 or usb-c to usb-c! Exactly the same but with more options
