DIY split cane / bamboo fly rod`s first trial on the water

This is my DIY split cane / bamboo fly rod's first trial on the water.
The rod is 7 foot long and is a 4/5 weight rod.
I wasn't willing to buy expensive professional steel planing forms to test and see if I am able to build a rod.
I made 2 planing forms from wood. I was amazed to find that I was able to build this rod. It was quite challenging. I did a lot of scraping with a Stanley blade to get the bamboo strips to size and measurement.
I designed the rod myself on a CAD program on my laptop.
I worked out all the measurements myself. I will post a video soon on how I build the rod etc.
The rod casts like a dream and I was privileged enough to catch quite a few nice fish on my first outing with the rod.
It was such a great achievement for me and I am quite proud of myself.
I am definitely going to build myself another rod.
