Nicely done. My only critique, the Valkyries would've deployed their cockpit shields when reentering the atmosphere. This was shown in Episode 27 of the original series when Hikaru (Rick) came back to earth while escorting Misa (Lisa)
I would add the monsters still dont look, animate or sound massive. Low camera angles, slower animation cycles and bass notes in their weapons fire is needed

Agreed, the heat shielding was missing. However, another issues is that the Valkyries should be Skull Leader, Blue, and Red. Hikaru(Rick) wasn't flying the white and red one at this point in the series, as he had inherited Roy's Valkyrie. And Hayao(Ben) was dead by the point Milia(Miria) was flying with the crew of the SDF Macross.
The air intakes should open up once it enters the atmosphere, and also the canopy sheild needs to deploy when re-entering, tho the canopy sheild doesn't deploy that much in the later instalments ike Macross Frontier and Delta.

You aren't going to be able to contain enough slush internally to burn to create thrust for very long in atmosphere with the extra drag from wind resistance and additional gravity, which is even less time than they would have in space which for the VF-1 is already an extremely short duration due to low internal fuel capacity. That's why they had to include the extra armor/fuel boosters in space (in addition to extra protections/weapons/maneuverability), to improve length of operation in zero gravity. In atmosphere, with traditional engines, they can operate for significantly longer because fuel usage is reduced.

So they did. And it just so happens to fly like a dream! Not THAT surprising, since it's based largely on existing fighter designs from the 70s/80s. But the "V" Tail and back canards being the only lifting surfaces aft of the wings did cause questions to be asked about the stability. Turns out it wasn't that big of an issue. It flies just fine. But if that "V" tail pod is folded up, you'd BETTER be in GERWALK mode, because the stability will go right out the window and you'll need the directed thrust vectoring (or the RCS control) to keep you stable!
I grew up in the 70s and 80s watching cartoon like the classics, looneytunes, popeye,merry melodies,the ones from the late 60s like Hong Kong fuye and Penelope pitstop, sniedly whiplash, capt caveman, mighty mouse, the one with the family of barbarians with the orb jell thing and the triceratops that shot rocks out its horns, birdman, Scooby doo, spiderman, but when my father got us cable in the early 80s I was 6 and started watching these new cartoons, astroboy,gigantor,cap harlock,a few I don't know the name of, then voltron, go joe, transformers,thundercats and many more. I went to my friends house one day and saw a new cartoon he watched. Robotech. I was hooked. Even named my female family cat minmei. Lol.my mom liked it. I bought models and toys and between that voltron and space battleship Yamaha I was hooked bad. To this day anything macross/robotech I have to watch. I have been wishing for a live action one but don't want some dipshit to ruin it with some bullshit Hollywood wholeness crap. I'm sure it would be Ricky Hunter the best pilot a woman and her affair with the 2nd in command bridge officer. Minnie would be a hard charging I don't need no man shoot em all women empowerment lady who sings like autotuned shit. Lol

Around the 44 second mark, there is a drastic shift of space debris. Besides the usual other stuff people already mentioned; not bad. Keep it up. Also, the Konigs monster cannons are not rapid fire. The recoil is way too strong for that to happen.

Macross/Robotech made F-14 Tomcats more of a legendary fighter jet than Top Gun did!, though don't get me wrong, they were kickass in Top Gun too. I hope Top Gun II :Maverick is as good as its predecessor.
Where is missile massacre (aka itano circus?) Macross isn't just about transforming fighter jets you know. Also Robotech is stupid. If there is ever a Remake I hope it can use just the Macross name and retain much of the original plot.
Since the Valkyrie solves all the problems of protection with its "pinpoint barrier", shouldn't the depiction of atmospheric re-entry emphasise this aspect more?
Only VF-17 and onwards has pin-point barriers. Earlier models only has basic anti heat & radiation shield combined with S. W. A. G energy converting armor. Such technology doesn't exist in Robotech universe.

For many of our generation, Robotech/Macross, Star Blazers, and Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman were our introduction to anime.
I m now 50 years old and this brought me back to my teens years .
When are they gonna make this a movie ?

If you recall he lost both arms on his Valkyrie. Maybe that had something to do with it.

The Valkyries should also have opened their intakes once they were in flight in atmosphere. They're only closed in Space or in Battroid mode.
