    When I was teaching, I always gave my students two weeks. I do the same for my kids. I think two weeks gives them time to actually learn and own the words.

    I used Wordy Wise when I homeschooled my daughter years ago. Now she uses words in conversations that I didn’t know. 😬

    Thank you for the flip through I was patiently waiting for you to post this one. I love Wordly Wise but the kids hate it (mostly the reading comprehension sesction). We tried 180 days of spelling and word study they didn't like that one either. Word Roots was next on my list since we are going to do Reading Detective. I agree the word list has too many words and no relationship. I was doing 1 lesson a day but realized quickly it was too much. 2 weeks is a better schedule for sure.

      I have come across it online, but not in person. There is also English From the Root Up. I am hoping someone will do a three way comparison.
      Also, it appears Word Roots only contain Latin Roots (based on what was shown in this video). Can someone confirm whether Greek Roots are included?? I know that they are included in English from the Root Up.

    Hi. This is a very helpful review and comparison. Thank you! One question: how do you ensure that your daughter uses the words she learnt in her daily life? That has been my biggest struggle. My daughter learns the words, does the exercises and then never really uses them while talking or in her writing

    • @LifeofTillmans
      @LifeofTillmans  6 месяцев назад +2

      Good question! Each day have her pick a few of the words and use them throughout the day in everyday conversation of possible. That will cover her for the week. Also, when doing writing assignments encourage the use of those words. It does take a lot of reminding but they get used often enough to be committed to their memory. Keep the words in a common place like the white board, kitchen fridge, bedroom, anywhere they will be reminded to use them. 😀

    Apologies if i missed this, how long does a lesson take in a typical day from each?

    • @LifeofTillmans
      @LifeofTillmans  Год назад +2

      Wordly Wise days will take anywhere from 10-25 minutes. The longer time would be for the reading comp passage at the end of each lesson.
      Word Roots usually takes my daughter about 15 minutes a day except when she has the review every 2 lessons. That one takes about 30 minutes.

      @@LifeofTillmans @LifeofTillmans Thanks! So is it fair to say 1 lesson of either of these takes somewhere in the ballpark of 60-90 minutes of times total?

    • @LifeofTillmans
      @LifeofTillmans  Год назад +2

      @@SuperMrgentleman yes it they do the entire in one sitting. That’s a good estimate.

      Sorry to hear that. RUclips has it’s way of adding those in. There is always an option to skip some of them. It is usually located at the bottom right of the video playing.
      Thanks for watching what you were able to view. 🙂
