Andor was pretty dark and gritty and actually well written. Highly recommend checking that out (relatively to the other goofy Star Wars stuff out there).

And let’s not get into Sabine being force sensitive and no one knowing even though she lived with two Jedi for multiple years…

This is how I interpreted the "the force is my ally scene". The writers knew that if Ezra got his lightsaber back, then there would be no reason for Sabine to have one. Sabine specializes in firearms, and so far has been losing all of her battles with a lightsaber, the only reason she used Ezra's because she was holding it for him. This is evidenced by the fact that, despite saying that he only needed the force, Ezra then just made a whole other lightsaber for himself, it doesn't make sense.
I say that all the time. Ripley is great in that movie. The wisest and most responsible character in the movie. Nobody listens to her at the beginning when she's trying to explain to the Marines the challenge that they will be facing from the xenomorphs

To your first point, it literally made no sense for him to refuse the lightsaber. Sabine is an expert with blasters and had bescar armor on. Ezra was basically fighting handicap for no reason, literally the next episode he was fighting with a lightsaber. The moment came across as the writers not wanting Ezra to outshine Sabine. And let’s not get into Sabine being force sensitive and no one knowing even though she lived with two Jedi for multiple years…

This is how I interpreted the "the force is my ally scene". The writers knew that if Ezra got his lightsaber back, then there would be no reason for Sabine to have one. Sabine specializes in firearms, and so far has been losing all of her battles with a lightsaber, the only reason she used Ezra's because she was holding it for him. This is evidenced by the fact that, despite saying that he only needed the force, Ezra then just made a whole other lightsaber for himself, it doesn't make sense.
