      Oh well the first week was as tough as it can be. I got the worst seniors you could have asked for. Suffered from oral ulcers out of stress and poor sleep. But then my unit changed and got the best seniors . Residency was quite smooth after that. Covid was a challenge though!

    Currently in Final Year Mbbs. I don't no which branch I'll get, but whenever i think of surgery as a branch i feel restless peace of mind ; restless comfort in my nerves. Sir, u are a grt mentor to me. I wish i could meet u one day after selection in surgery residency.

    Sir, a lot of people say that CTVS is a dead branch? Is it?
    Should I prefer a central institute like PGI Chandigarh for MS surgery or not? Because it is said that junior residents don't get as much hands on experience in central institutes.

      shaik mohammed waseem things are he same. You just need to focus on theory as well because DNB theory exam is more difficult to crack than practical.

    Sir is that true ?? Peripheral medical colgs are better for surgical branch where u get more chances to handle surgery instead of reputed colgs where hierarchy is there, 1st consultant, then SR, then JR3 then JR1 will touch patient...

      No not all.. peripheral colleges are shit with no respect for protocols.. just because you get more cutting doesn’t make you a good surgeon.. you be will cutting without any knowledge.. Good colleges have highly reputed consultants who perform complex surgeries not just stupid hernia appendix surgery like peripheral clgs.. ppl who say that peripheral clgs are better are just jealous

    Sir pay's surgical handicraft is of two type one is of 500 rup & another one is 1600 rup which is out of two about which u r discussing .
    & 1600 price book also of two writers one is Walter Pye & one is crowle ....
    Soo plzz which books we prefer...
    & What is Latest edition of this book

      I heard the red one published in 1991 (Rs 550) is better.
      The other one is just a reprint on fancy paper but doesn't have much updates.

      It is just a reprint version of 1991 book.

      Shashi Bhushan don’t worry. I know many such examples but with time you improve. Once you start seeing structures during surgery, your understanding of anatomy will improve

    sir i am a first year PG surgery joined just few days ago in private medical college.....my assistant professor here is verbally abusive using strong language not only on OT but also publicly...can you please tell me how to deal with him.....complained in college management but they never took any action....he is also showing his personnel frustration towards me and also my senior PG's....today he took things far and threw bloodied gloves at my senior PG in the middle of an OT.....

      GIRI S that’s sad. You should talk to the management again and explain them about safety issues of residents. Also talk to the resident doctors association and request them to issue a notice.

    Sir, im from delhi and surgical residents in my hospital warn me never to take surgery. So do my seniors in safdurjang. You already told 1st year residency is tough and Gruelling. Is this the same with 2nd and 3year residency? Also how about after that? Is a good work life-personal life balance possible in surgery after the initial years of residency?

      Work and life balance for a doctor , can never be mentioned in same sentence , Either Being a doctor is your life and patient care is everything for you or its not in that case Dermatology , radio , psychiatry and patho are good career options
