i've seen many backyard wrestling promotions make kendo sticks in this style.. To be honest it's offensive to the Shinai But a way i did it was to go to the dollar store or walmart and invest in those bambo tiki torches and remove the torch part and use white tape to reaudjust it to a handle and splitting the bambo in half and using white tape on the tip. To hold it back together from splitting it it should give it a nice noise when it has a nice impact on someone the pain level is minor probably not even any pain but it's loud and it looks a lot like a real kendo stick. Not to be mean but this just looks silly..

If u hit the bamboo sticks with a hammer (basically splitting them in pieces) after tapping it up it will be less stiff and heaps more flexible
