    Can it be driven with the wing mirrors folded in, as that would be needed to get it in my garage?

    Does the Coast model come with a diesel air parking heater as standard please?

    With the large overhang on the backdoor, how do you mount a bike rack?

      We have a Thule Velospace which works well on our existing Cali which drops down out of the way of the tailgate, worth checking whether that would work on the new Cali.

      That's presumably tow bar mounted. Given the number of 6.1 and older vans with tailgate mounted racks vw will lose sales of racks and force people to fit a tow hitch.

      I had a 1992 T4 Westfalia California with a bike rack.
      The water tank filler was accessed inside the tailgate (like this vehicle); this was a pain because I had to dismount four bikes before I could access it - the T6 setup is a lot more convenient in this respect.

      What’s the ground clearance? And there is no Diesel 4motion. Deal breaker for me. Pretty bumped.

    No table in the door!!😪
    Chairs 'fixed' with a strap instead of a clip.😣
    Smaller kitchen.🥵
    Less room between bed and front seats.😤
    Less headroom when roof is closed.🤕
    In the Netherlands there will only be the hybrid version, because it ain't a 'camper' anymore due to tax regulations.🤢
    Nice, this 'progress'.🤬🤬

    • @CaliforniaChris

      It's a smaller vehicle, definitely. I still think it's a great camper for a different demographic than the T6.1

      @@CaliforniaChris Agree.....it certainly doesn't appeal to me and I'm still happy with my T5.1 (even after 9.5yrs)

    • @CaliforniaChris
      @CaliforniaChris  Месяц назад

      I think that's the main take away here. Campers with T5, T5.1, T6, T6.1 still love their vehicles and want to keep them. They're definitely targeting a new audience of people who wanted something different and perhaps more of a daily driver with more everyday practicality. Food for thought.

    Do the roofs still leak?

    • @CaliforniaChris
      @CaliforniaChris  Месяц назад +1

      If you still have a leaking roof bellows, you should contact your local dealership to implement a fix.

    I’d say it’s well put together, but vw could tidy up the dangling wires in the back cupboard…

    Exiting the Volkswagen Franchise: Selling the franchise while it still holds value could be a prudent move. As public perception continues to erode, the resale value of a Volkswagen dealership is likely to decline.

      @@SB-hr5yr Ford and VW went into partnership on the new van 19 months ago, do keep up. And are you under the impression that the factory in Turkey is somehow new? It's been making the Transit Custom for a few years. The Turks never invented the wet belt engine by the way, you've never owned one have you?........the "experts" that comment on the wet belt Ford rarely have owned one, they prefer to repeat parrot like what they've seen online or down the pub. I'll tell you who has experienced wet belt failure on their Ford vans though, Mickey Mouse builders who seem to think that vans run themselves without regular services and oil changes.......they will be the blokes down the pub whining about their wet belt engines

      Just to be clear, the new California is built on the T7 Multivan platform. Completely VW built. It's not based on the Transporter collab with Ford.
