      We ended up with an Impreza sport! One weird note I think might helpful for future owners is that the sport has a grey/light upper and the RS has a dark/black upper cockpit experience. I personally like the light upper better. Some may like the the black/RS upper color better. It’s definitely a noticeable interior cabin difference (more so to me than the engine).

    We have a 21' Crosstrek Limited. It is such a good car. Very safe, confident and perfect for our Utah winters. The gas mileage isn't all that great since we use eyesight almost all the time. We get 25-26 MPG. We have a 2 inch hitch for a bike rack. Being a small car you can feel how it handles different with 2 bikes on the back. We have a 2017 Jetta, and I would consider trading that for this Impreza.

      I dont miss a CD player anymore. I had a lot of CDs when I got my Impreza base without a CD player. I just transferred the CDs to a flash drive and play them through the USB port. Have to say though, the only regret I have about buying the Impreza so far is that I did not get the Premium trim over the base. All totaled, the Premium was only slightly more expensive, and you get a better tuned suspension, the CD player, and heated seats and mirrors, which I really wish I had here in MN.

    Subie is staying true to themselves, function over form. Sure some of the styling elements look a bit dorky compared to hatchbacks from the competition, but that boxy butt means storage space is maximized. The interior is a weird mix of old school and new, (the shifter area/console looks straight up 90's- early 2k's😂) but I kinda like that with some companies going full futuristic...which will look dated in a few years. I really like the new Impreza, but the fact it's CVT only with no manual option means I probably won't even consider one next time I get the new car itch. The WRX on the other hand will definitely be considered as long as they keep the row your own option.

    In comparison to other brands, seem like Subaru is starting to nickel and dime buyers. Cloth seats as only option, overpriced weather mats, winter package w/o heated steering wheel, no spare tire, and the tilting headrests. The 2024 builder shows tilting headrests in the safety features, yet RUclips's 703Speed says the tilts have been discontinued. Still is a nice hatchback but it is now limited on the options.

I have gotten up to 40 mpg on all freeway trips keeping the speed down to 60 or below. It is a pretty boxy body style, so mileage drops off at higher cruising speeds. I wonder what the 'sport tuned suspension' means. Does it mean different springs and dampers? According to the Subaru spec sheet, it appears to be only the existence of a rear anti-sway bar (the base model apparently does not have this.)

    Question: how does the 2.0 compare to the 2.5 off the line from a stop?
    For mostly-city driving folks, 0 to 15 or 0 to 30 off the line acceleration will often matter more.

    • @zergilli9719
      @zergilli9719 Год назад +1

      According to videos so far, the 2.0 Liter 0-60 time is around 10 to 10.6 seconds. The 2.5 Liter 0-60 time is around 7.5 to 8.6 seconds from what I've seen. So the RS is 2-3 seconds faster which is a lot better in a sprint.
      Edit: I honestly would like to see the 0-60 on the Sport 2.0 Liter without the car in Sport mode because it tended to drive faster in normal mode in other videos for some reason.

    • @JSBPisgah
      @JSBPisgah Год назад +3

      The 2.0 last gen is fast 0-15 and 0-30 is pretty good, too. You should have no problem at all getting the car going from a stop. Only exception might be starting on a steep hill.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  Год назад +1

      The power delivery is linear and similar to the 2.5, it’s just less pull throughout the RPM band. Both are totally adequate around town and city streets. But the larger displacement of the 2.5 is noticeable right off the line, but again linear throughout. I would recommend test driving a lightly used one (over 1k miles) once it’s slightly broke it and you can decide for yourself if the 2.0 is adequate. 🙂

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  Год назад +3

      In my testing on slightly different density altitude days I agree. 10-10.6 true time for the 2.0 and I think I got 8.6 in the RS. 🙂
      Sport mode only seems to help when cruising as it keeps you in one lower “gear”. From a dig starting in “1st” either way, it doesn’t seem to make a difference lol. I know some people don’t like to hear that “S” doesn’t do much. 🤷‍♂️🙂

    It really bugs me that when you stomp a Subie to the floor to get up to speed that it stays on 6K rpm. The CVT really does Rob the engine on pwr and torque, thus causing the mpg to flush down the toilet.
    My old Rav with the 269hp 3.5 V6 got 27mpg on the highway with the cruise set on 75mph and always had Plenty of get up and go, but both our Outback and Forester with a measly 182hp only gets 29mpg at best, but usually 26mpg.

      @@Doc1855 Doc i fully understand. Whenever a CVT fake shifts you are loosing acceleration but it feels more natural to most people. .It pegs only when foot to the floor, it's all on purpose. Peak HP on most N/A's is at high RPM. If you watch the channel :"Engineering Explained" he goes over the difference between torque and HP and when one plays more of a role vs the other. This is basic knowledge amongst most who watch these type of videos. No need to explain lol I know how a CVT operates to get max acceleration.

    • @edsmith9855
      @edsmith9855 Год назад

      @@robob221 Actually CVTs are tuned to get max fuel mileage. You are correct though, that acceleration is best when the CVT holds the RPMs higher.
