F-Zero and Sim City were 2 of the first games I had on my SNES... got for my 13th birthday in 1992. My first playing Super Mario World was in December 1991 at a friend's birthday party. I had to have it too but I would have to wait 3 months. Man, I love reminiscing with you... you bring back my own memories of a time in my life I love.
You took me down memory lane with this one.. I never got the chance to own a Super Nintendo as a kid but I remember quite well the day my older cousin and his mother walked into my Great-Grandmother's his Grandmother's house with the Super Nintendo Box with the 2 Controllers in it and Super Mario World late 1992 early 1993.. His mother also bought Street Fighter 2: World Warriors separately and I remember when my cousin plugged it up, it was like another world I was seeing.. It's that joy that only you can get just from seeing some thing of amazement.. I literally lost all sense of thought forgetting I had to go home but my eyes was so glued to the screen that I couldn't fathom on how Super Mario World looked so futuristic from Super Mario Bros. 3.. It was a beautiful time in gaming growing up as a kid.. I love the hell out of my adult life cause I can buy all the old consoles that I always wanted, the consoles I couldn't afford to get back then typically because I was poor as a kid in Alabama so like any kid in my shoes we made lists and kept them until we became adults on things we wanted as kids and now will be able to try them as adults.. The NES made me a Gamer but the Super Nintendo made me fall in love with gaming.. 👍🏿♥️🔥🔥🔥
I wasn't poor, but I get what you're saying since my parents refused to buy me a console while everyone at school had one 😂 it's a bit messed up LOL I used to buy gaming magazines so I could at least have a taste of the "gaming world". When I was almost 12, I got my first console ever, a Game Boy Color, after a lot of crying! 😂 it was around the Pokémon era here in Portugal (April 2000), so Gbc was a big thing at the time for young kids lol...
I still don´t get it that F-Zero is not popular in Japan. Saleswise F-Zero was not a good series in Japan. In my opinion, F-Zero is the King of all Future Highspeed Racers. It had titles that are not really enjoyable, but the N64 and Gamecube Versions and for sure the SNES Version are Legends.
It's cliche to say but that's one of those racing games that still gives you a real sense of speed even till this day. A truly timeless game and easily one of the best ever imo.
I never had the SNES as a kid, but I did get the GBA when I was 16, and man did I play a LOT of F-Zero on that. I remember playing the hell out of it on the bus to and from my vocational classes.
Tyler your dad influenced me to pick up a camera and record my son and me every moment i will matter fact we all retro gamers will keep your father legacy going Love ya man
This game has been underrated and overlooked for years. Its perfection in my opinion, with the exact balance between risk and reward with driving style.
Launch SNES games sucked over here, we had nothing but F-Zero, Super Soccer and Super Tennis for months. I ended up importing games from the US as the line up was so dry, Super Wrestlemania, Joe and Mac and The Addams Family were three of the first games I got.
I love F-Zero!!!!!! So much fun back in the day and now I am able to play it again with my 5 year old daughter and she loves it too!!! The best times!!!!!!
I'm 37 and I had tears in my eyes when I saw you as a little boy enjoying the SNES. I, too, can still remember the day when I got the SNES with my brother. But even better was the day I got the NES and the first game, Knight Rider... it was at 0700 in the morning on a Wednesday. I was so tied up, my dad called me sick at school that day. I still give him great credit for that today and we still laugh about it. Warm greetings from Germany.
I just came to comment one thing. What a great dad you had. I can feel the love he has for you in his look. The will to share stuff with you. Wish my dad was the 5th part of yours at my childhood. You are so lucky man.
There was nothing.more exciting than getting a new game cartridge back then. Can even remember the smell of the cartridge and the shop. Happy memories.
I never owned F-Zero during this time, but I really enjoyed this video! Seeing the footage from 1991 reminds me of my own memories of getting a Super Nintendo in 1991 for Christmas. What a great time to be a kid!
Blew my mind too!!! I remember being amazed that when I went left to right on the track you could see the characters in the speeders actually move left and right
I remember I was blown away by the F-Zero commercial in late 1991, I wanted to have a SNES so bad, that didn't happen until December 1993 but my cousin got it on April 1992.
Great timing with the release of F-Zero 99! I remember this being the only brand new SNES game I ever bought as copies were still being old sealed on eBay around 2009-10 (when I was in High School) for like $15!
I was 16 when I got the Super Nintendo. What a great machine. I received Super Castlevania as a present from my parents, when it launched. That game blew my mind just like Super Mario World did.
1991 was definitely a special year for gaming. I got my Super Nintendo the day after Xmas that year, and the first game I played on it was Super Castlevania 4. Man, did that game set the tone of what became my all-time favourite console.
All these older video clips are such a blessing that's like a little time maching, taking me back to those magical years. Like Tyler, I grew up in the golden era of gaming, seeing the NES, Genesis, and SNES enter into pop culture. I remember the PlayStation being a big deal when it came out in '95. Gaming has come a long, long way since then -- but nothing can ever replace those special times as a kid, when everything just seemed to make sense.
Oh man - I feel for you brother! I can still remember exactly how me and my sister got the Super Nintendo. My parents just finished building our house - and we celebrated Christmas in the new house and got the Super Nintendo. We spent countless hours playing Super Mario, F-Zero & A Link to the Past. I will NEVER forget that time as it was the best of my life. Now I am 38 years old, my parents are divorced, quiet older, the house was sold and I see my sister 1-2 times a year. These videos are not only a great tribute to older &better days, it also makes you realize how wonderful and precious a beautiful childhood is...
Same here. Didn't ask for this one, just got it for Christmas 1991 as a bonus game. It went on to become one of my favorite games of the 16 bit era. In fact, I bought a GBA when it first came out just for Maximum Velocity. F-Zero 99 just came out and I can't put it down!
F Zero will always have a special place in my heart. Remember playing it when it came out and it blew my mind at the time. To us it was in 3D lol! Oh and the most important part . . . The MUSIC!!!!!!!!
It's incredible to me how much footage you have from your youth and you're a legend for sharing this. I'm from Europe but had the same timeline.. it's a gem and a gift to be able to see this again! Thanks so much.
First memories of F-Zero. I remember I was really bored in a retro game store and I saw a guy play it. He was trying to beat the game with the time he had left before going back to work. I was instantly hooked. The game looked like Mario Kart, but faster, and with a console. Not like Mario Kart DS which was on a handheld. When he beat it, he asked if I was interested in playing and of course, I tried. Sure I didn't do well since I didn't know the controls and what to do but I learned and processed it. I started drawing the characters and my own for F-Zero to better understand the F-Zero fandom. Eventually by 2022, my friends and family got me my SNES for my birthday and it was the day I decided to get F-Zero from the same retro game store. I purchased it with Street Fighter 2, and Mario World and remembered the time I played it at the same store. I've yet to beat F-Zero but I must complete it sometime.
The timing of this video being out and the announcement of F Zero 99 is insane. Good video dude. I didnt know the volume of that car blow up was loud at the time. I actually felt it wearing my earbuds. Lol
Your collection over the years is unmatched. Nobody comes close to you and your dads gaming capsules. No retro game channel even remotely taps into what you have here. I’m in awe of this channel since I saw the Xbox launch video. Your dad as you’ve been told plenty is amazing.
lots of great memories I got from this video! Brings me back to my Jr High days of staying over at a best friend's house and seeing F-zero for the first time. I was hooked after the first play! Great early title in the SNES library.
Thanks for the share. There are similar things when I was growing up that I would be super excited about and getting a new console was always one that got me excited. :) I have a love of all consoles old and new because of it. My viewers say I am a museum of old consoles after they say do you have this console and I start rattling off all the consoles I have and love the ones that have the light up in there eyes. I remember my most excited freak out was when I got the N64 which was probably around Christmas. We were not well off and as a kid I always knew that even asking for it I will not be disappointed about not getting it. But yeah when I unwrapped the N64 I pretty much was flying at my parents giving lots of thanks to them. And our family was one of the rare ones that kept the boxes for all the games and consoles for those we have boxes for as some were bought used and stuff. F-Zero is one that we had here as well and I enjoyed the game and I am enjoying the F-Zero 99 that came out recently and wow I was surprised at the muscle memory I had with the game I picked it up and did well did not blow up once playing it since I had played it so much back in the 90s. Final Fantsy II is a good one too I also had that I played pretty much all the Final Fantasies up to FFX. I honestly got burned out on em I should try some of the newer ones. I do go back to the old ones from time to time though.
I love Fzero so much and it might sound crazy but it's actually my favorite racing game of all time just for the simplistic yet addictive gameplay and the amazing soundtrack as well.
HTX Nintendo memories are part of my life too friend. So many moments, so many consoles 😂 I was very lucky. My dad hooked me up. So much joy! What a great dad. He never let me down. 🙏🏼
Can't wait to watch this after work! I used to play this on my uncles disk drive for the SNES if anyone remembers those, top loader thing that used floppy disks.
It was illegal but my cousin in the Bronx Ny had one too. You could rent games from your local video store and rip the games to a hard disk with this attachment. Mind blowing at the time.
Love to hear the stories of how these older games were and how they innovated/what they changed in the gaming landscape. I like retro games more than current games. The first F Zero I played was X. When I went back to this one, it was already very outdated for me. Love this game though and this series, hope they make a new main line F-Zero someday. Great video, Tyler. Love your show! I'll like to see more cameos of both of your cousins, your mom, Aunt Michelle and your friends from that time,. They are all awesome!
That was so funny picturing you screaming from blowing up in F Zero. I can remember doing the same thing, it just came at you outta nowhere and SO LOUD!
The music when you beat the game when you see your victory lap is some of the best music on the SNES. Actually, the entire sound track is for F Zero! It's in my Top 5 SNES games for sure!
I feel like there was a different kind of excitement back then. More of a sense of wonder due to everything not being so connected like it is now. Things just seemed like such a bigger deal. Theres more of an experience around physical media. Going to the store, taking it home, opening it, looking at the manual. Your experience with getting blown up in F-Zero is hilarious because I remember that sound being scary and intense too 😂 Your dads excitement about new game stuff and filming your reaction to new stuff is so awesome. These were good times.
We had a Super Nintendo at launch in 1991, but we never so much as rented or borrowed F-Zero. My brother bought the SNES mini in 2017, and when I finally played F-Zero, my impression of it even then was, “This game is beautiful.” It is a dazzling stunner. I’m a sucker for the hot pink and glowing colors, the hypnotically flickering moire patterns, and of course the music!
What a treasure to have footage of yourself playing nintendo. I wish i could have recorded when me and my cousin would spent months playing all the nintendo games over and over. We dont game anymore😢
Watching these videos makes me reflect on my own childhood Christmas'. While we didn't have a lot, my parents always made an effort to buy us (mostly me) gaming stuff for Christmas. My brother received an Atari one year and I will never forget playing digdug all Christmas at my Grandmother's idyllic house out in the country. In 1988 we were gifted a sega master system, and new games and systems followed for years after. That gift would provide so many wonderful Christmas memories of gaming with friends and cousins for hours as the adults celebrated upstairs. Those are the memories I cherish always.
Strange how back then i was never that into F zero but then years later i just got hooked and the music from Big Blue permanently lives in my head! all in i think this game is a 16 bit masterpiece!
I was 30 years old when F-Zero came out I had my connection Curtis who was the manager of the gaming department at Toys R Us in A2 Arborland Mall Curtis would pull the slips for me so I would always get games I wanted on launch day. Great game great memories. I appreciate Nintendo bringing out F-Zero 99 for the Switch but I would love to see a Switch version of the original game with improved graphics but also included the classic version as well.
Awesome video man. F Zero ushered in something new and Nintendo hit a home run. The game would go on to be featured in few local competitions here in Canada and we made sure we practiced and the game was is on point
I had tears in my eyes. You captured the retro feeling so well. It's crazy you all have this on video. Unfortunately there's no video material of my childhood. I remember my times with the SNES, and how I got it on Christmas as well. Before played Nintendo and Gameboy, SMB3 was one of my favorite games. This was such a cool time. Thank you for that. Greetings from Germany.
Even i hate F-Zero games you made the video enjoyable while you talking and explaining nostalgia moments, thank you so much for making my day, i hope you always have a good day also regards to your family! ❤
Total Genesis Fan, who ended up shoveling snow to get a SNES only for SF2 World Warrior. That being said I ended up getting FZERO new for 15 dollars at that point. Over the years I have played a lot of FZERO, and I never expected that. Such a great game. None of the other ones after have compared to that original FZERO.
I remember f zero back in '92 my first got my super Nintendo in the summer and a friend of mine on the block on the borrow his game and I played in fell in love with and still play it to this day even beat it on master class for the game to tell me I'm at f zero master All your videos have me reminiscing about the past it so nostalgic now I want a time machine
Just gotta say, I love this channel. I lived through this and am a bit older than you, but your vids are like an idealized version of my own memories. Thanks, man. :)
Wow.....u Read my mind. I got this a few years afer release bcus i honestly didnt know how good it was....i got it for $20 in a bargin bin and said why not, there wasnt much new out then......to this day it is my Favorite racing SNES game and like you said, everything was Perfect about it...even 3-4 years after its release it felt like day one again! PS) I lost my home and Everything my family owned but the clothes on our backs in 1989 in a house fire....our family was alot like yours....especially with xmas time. Watching you lets me think about those days before the fire and everything i lost to never get back....with a sense of calm. THANK YOU....More than u Know
I remember you little fellas in the 90's, my Mom was a first grade teacher I went to a school that had all grades and id go in her room back then and make your generation laugh/etc. We had a tv in there and I brought my snes a few times to let them play, I tell you what it amazed me how good they were so quickly.
I remembered I had also an explosion death trauma as a kid playing with my dad exactly like you. Especially the off guard coughing how the explosion played scared the shit out of me. I also cried. I wondering that nobody else is talking about this :D
Greetings from Sweden! When reading articles on upcoming Super Nintendo I was overhyped on getting a colour palette greater than the 8-Bit. I said to my dad; "I only wish for this machine, it is a bit expensive but I don´t want anything else for Christmas" Upon opening this package it was and always will be my most epic Christmas of all. The 16-Bit era is my favourite and still collect for the system today. The perfect control of Mario, the MODE-7 graphic of F-Zero and Pilotwings, the awesome tunes of destruction in Super Probotector (Contra in the States), the exploration in A Link To The Past. All of these things made the Super Nintendo a beast.
I have a similar story to your cousin. I remember looking at an FAO Schwarz magazine (strangely I was a subscriber to Nintendo Power since the 4th issue but I don’t remember SNES until that day with the FAO Schwarz magazine) with my neighbor during summer 1991. It had the SNES in it and then he got SNES at the end of summer right before school started again with Super Mario World and Pilot Wings for helping out his parents around the house and yard. I was so happy to get to play it at his house on weekends. I had to wait until until my birthday middle of December but got SNES with Super Mario World and Final Fantasy 2. I then got Super Castlevania 4, F-Zero, Super Ghouls and Ghosts and Actraiser for Christmas but I didn’t even touch any of those games other than Castlevania Christmas morning until I was finished with Final Fantasy 2. It’s just blew me away after playing the first one and first two Dragon Warrior games on NES. I liked Super Castlevania 4 but I beat it Christmas Day and just remember being disappointed that I beat it so fast 😂. When I eventually got to F-Zero I loved it. Between myself, my neighbor and my other neighbor 3 houses down we came away from Christmas 1991 with almost all the games released up to that point was an awesome time.
Still gotta keep thanking you for this! I am relieving my own retro life with your stories! If you are ever out on long island again, let's have a video game day!
The Super Nintendo is my personal favorite system of all time. One thing about the Super Nintendo is that it had a revolutionary sound system that was so ahead of its time.
This is the second video of yours I’ve watched. Thank you so much for posting this stuff. I wish I had videos of these moments. Super Nintendo was absolutely amazing. And the videos you got of the mall, etc. What a time to grow up, it’s sad that we don’t have malls and cool places like that anymore. Awesome video!
Same with me - this game blowed my mind. I had sega megadrive 2 and my neighbor informed my that he received new game console. As a Soviet kids, were blow away with picture and sound quality of the NES.
I still go back and play my SNES occasionally when I have some free time. Mostly its super mario world with my kids. But if I ever play it myself I always pop in F-zero. I had so many good memories playing this game as a kid.
I'm Gen Z, born in 2003, but F-Zero holds a very special place in my heart. I was first exposed to this game and Pilotwings through the demos in the Smash Bros games. They're both very fun to master and are among my favorite SNES games. F-Zero X and GX are also masterpieces. I'm happy that the OG is getting love with the new F-Zero 99 game but I'd love to see a fully-fledged F-Zero again.
When I first saw F-Zero they had the SNES on display on a 52“ TV at Dillards. When I saw a car explode and the camera panned out it was the coolest thing I ever saw
There's something to be said about dying in F-Zero. Not only does that explosion catch you off-guard, but the music stops, and there's the eerie wind that kicks in. If you notice, no more cars are flying past your wreck. They had to stop the race... There's been a horrible accident.
oh man its so awesome that your parents filmed everything. I got the Snes launch day here in Australia in 92' when I was 15 with mario world and F zero which i had great anticipation for after reading the Mean Machines magazine review of the super famicom version. I will never forget the first time the camera zoomed down behind the car for the start of the race in mute city , mode 7 had changed gaming forever. A year and a half previously Altered beast on the megadrive launch day was impressive for my first taste of 16bit but F Zero and mode 7 were a generational leap. I still adore F zero to this day and play it on my snes and crt tv regularilly with other snes gems. The new F zero 99 is awesome as well, its amazing how good it still looks and sounds today.

This Chanel is literally a time machine and deserves more subscribers. Love your channel. It's like I'm watching myself when I was kid.
I was 10 in 1988 and the fact i was just as excited then as you were.....younger says something lol. These kids miss it!
I would of been 11 years old when f zero came out. What damn classic. Snes was and will always be my favorite console.
Great video, great channel. You totally captured the "magic" feeling of getting a new console back in the day.
Man I remember playing F Zero back when I was 5 (this was back in 2007) on my SNES and I fell in love with F Zero since, its such a great game
Tyler has one of the most brilliant channels on RUclips.
Your nostalgia brings me so much nostalgia. Thank you. I hope your Dad somehow knows what his tapes and passions are still paying forward!
Lol
Man, getting a game at launch must be satisfiying. It's great to see you telling your video game stories
Your collection over the years is unmatched. Nobody comes close to you and your dads gaming capsules. No retro game channel even remotely taps into what you have here. I’m in awe of this channel since I saw the Xbox launch video. Your dad as you’ve been told plenty is amazing.
Amazing full circle moment now that FZERO 99 has launched can't wait for your playthrough and review, great video.
lots of great memories I got from this video! Brings me back to my Jr High days of staying over at a best friend's house and seeing F-zero for the first time. I was hooked after the first play! Great early title in the SNES library.
I love this game sooooo much! I also got my copy at launch. And now having FZero 99 has been just great!
Thanks for the share.
There are similar things when I was growing up that I would be super excited about and getting a new console was always one that got me excited. :)
I have a love of all consoles old and new because of it.
My favorite game of all time. The way you could slide round the tight corners with the L/R top pads . Mate you just gave me goose bumbs
I’m with you. F Zero was an instant classic! A lot of time spent on that game for me too!
Can't wait to watch this after work! I used to play this on my uncles disk drive for the SNES if anyone remembers those, top loader thing that used floppy disks.
I had no idea SNES had a disk drive!😮
It was illegal but my cousin in the Bronx Ny had one too. You could rent games from your local video store and rip the games to a hard disk with this attachment. Mind blowing at the time.

Great video man! Mode 7 was a game changer for sure! I was smitten with FZero and Pilot Wings.
Even though I was born in 93, these videos bring me back to a simpler time, thank you man!
I’m Gen Z born in 2000 and F-Zero still baffles me by how good it is for the time it was created. Truly an eternal gem.
That was so funny picturing you screaming from blowing up in F Zero. I can remember doing the same thing, it just came at you outta nowhere and SO LOUD!
One of the stand out memories of the game for me for sure lol
@@MyRetroLife Yeah, you would be laser focused on the race. It was almost traumatic lol!!
The music when you beat the game when you see your victory lap is some of the best music on the SNES. Actually, the entire sound track is for F Zero! It's in my Top 5 SNES games for sure!
Super Mario World is such a beautifully designed game. The sounds alone invoke a huge rush of nostalgia. Thanks for uploading this video
What a special surprise and night. I remember it well ❤
I feel like there was a different kind of excitement back then.
Awesome video and memories from that era of gaming history & perfect timing with F-Zero99 releasing on NSO yesterday.
❤❤❤❤
Man I swear if we grew up together we would be best friends. My childhood looked the exact same in games, toys, and ton's of memories to look back on.
Even i hate F-Zero games you made the video enjoyable while you talking and explaining nostalgia moments, thank you so much for making my day, i hope you always have a good day also regards to your family! ❤
The way your able to express the essence of time through these videos and the emotion behind it all is incendiary! 😢 Thank you for real!
Yes! The explosion scared the crap out of me as a kid! So glad you brought that up.
THANK YOU....More than u Know
It’s so nice to see a happy kid and a loving family! You are lucky
Dear god I feel like this is my life watching these retro videos, Grew up in Shamokin, PA
Greetings from Sweden!
When reading articles on upcoming Super Nintendo I was overhyped on getting a colour palette greater than the 8-Bit.
I said to my dad; "I only wish for this machine, it is a bit expensive but I don´t want anything else for Christmas"
Upon opening this package it was and always will be my most epic Christmas of all.
The 16-Bit era is my favourite and still collect for the system today. The perfect control of Mario, the MODE-7 graphic of F-Zero and Pilotwings,
the awesome tunes of destruction in Super Probotector (Contra in the States), the exploration in A Link To The Past.
They really nailed that Mario. Even the sounds, perfection. I loved pilot wings.
The Super Nintendo is my personal favorite system of all time. One thing about the Super Nintendo is that it had a revolutionary sound system that was so ahead of its time.
I just cannot put into words how much I love SMW and FZ. It‘s grained in my memory
The old SNES version is still slaps. F-zero 99 looks amazing too!
Same with me - this game blowed my mind.
I had sega megadrive 2 and my neighbor informed my that he received new game console.
As a Soviet kids, were blow away with picture and sound quality of the NES.
You definitely unearthed a memory of that explosion sound really scaring me, too. Man, what a game and what an experience. Thank you for sharing!
I have F-zero and Hyperzone mixed up and conjoined in my memory. Both were great.
This was my first SNES game purchase in 1991 (not counting Super Mario World). I played it on an ancient 1970s TV and it still looked amazing.
One of the greatest soundtracks in history.
It sure slaps really hard.
