- A Scottish NHS board faces being sued by a woman after she complained about sharing a changing room with a trans woman, and was subsequently suspended from her job.
NHS Fife is reportedly facing drama over the incident which has caused outrage among women's rights groups in Scotland.
Talk's Jeremy Kyle is joined by Susan Smith from 'For Women Scotland', who says the situation "shouldn't be unacceptable, and it's absolutely terrifying".

I am a woman who has suffered years of sexual abuse by three different men in my childhood (6-17) and struggled with intimacy my whole life. NEVER could I go and see a male gynaecologist. And in this sick world I would have to be subjected to this, how depraved have we become as a society. So many women have suffered extreme trauma like this and there is nothing to protect their basic intimacy. This is a calculated attempt to denigrate women and to bring back their basic human rights into the Stone Age.

The other day when I went out to lunch and a trans woman was sitting behind me - I wanted to go to the toilet but decided to wait until I got home in case they came into the toilet! When i was in junior high i didn't charge my clothes in front of other female students. I changed in the single bathroom. That was in the 70s. I valued my privacy.
Hi, me too. I'm 64 and in the 70's all girls school, I had a shower in a cubicle, after gym or swimming, and put my clothes on, in there too, and in my 20's at swimming pools too. I didn't want to strip off in front of my own sex, let alone men in dresses! Of course, it didn't matter in front of my boyfriend.

If I did stink, I would have washed with gym clothes on. Actually, just rinse off and change in the bathroom. I remembered the old recreation that had cubicle showers. 2 can shower, but there was a divider.

There is a HUGE difference between a post-surgery trans woman, and a pre-surgery (ie. still physically masculine) person. And in open-plan changing facilities (always an awful idea in my own opinion) nobody should have to worry about their safety. What on earth has happened to common sense? A born biological woman who identifies as a woman, should have the same rights to be offended or feel threatened as someone who identifies as a transgender woman, who was born a biological man. I will not use a public toilet or changing room which allows this, or take my children into this sort of facility. That is my right. I hope I have used the correct terminology in this post, as I haven’t a clue what terminology to use without offending someone! (I am not phobic about any race, gender, religion etc I just believe in equality across the board not just for people who feel they have more rights than anyone else).

When i did my adult nursing placement at the hospital they had unisex changing rooms/showers. As I have noticed 90% of changing rooms users were men including me. Around 10 %of all were women who always just tried to hide around the corder made out of lockers just to get some privacy.I really felt sorry for them that they had to do that and get changed while us men were in the same changing room. You should see in what speed these women used to get changed just to minimise the risk of being exposed.

@@Susan-nm3sxyou never know who has been raped and still feels traumatised and frightened. Sounds like he was thinking of these women around him who may have been victimised by vulgar men. It's nice that on the whole as a society things aren't so bad and most are comfortable, but this man sounds like he was a very kind and compassionate considerate man and his passing a great loss.
We need protection as well.

This simply becomes a feelings issue. The man can feel uncomfortable but the woman can not? Plus because she feels uncomfortable she will be criticised. World gone mad.

My changing room is tiny for the number of women using it in a big department : the back wall is two loos and a shower cubicle, the front wall is all lockers and the entrance, if I touch the lockers and spread my arms I can nearly touch the loo door, so not very wide, both side walls taken up with coat hooks and more lockers. Some women use the shower room to change anyway, for modesty. If it is busy at shift change times, you have to wait or ask someone to move, to get to your coat hook or locker. If a man was in there, in his boxers you would turn around and find yourself backed up against a penis. Or bend down to tie your shoe laces and come up face to face with a penis. There will be mass complaints if a man starts using our change room.
And who has really been pushing trans rights. There’s a lot of women that are complicit in this issue.
The sign on a female changing room allowing men in..😮the female NHS CEO is the one responsible for this. ..just shows what you can get away with when you don't have to generate a penny and couldn't care less about patients or staff..you get paid regardless..
