I’m going to check mine . It’s a 2012 diesel Captiva I just bought on Friday . I noticed hissing sound and also lots of black smoke . Had a full service done today and they said they did a re-gen but reccomend me taking it to Holden for a DPF clean/replacement because they don’t do it . I’m going to give this a crack . Very helpful video . Thanks you

Thanks so much for this, we have been having issue for the last 2 years with DPF light and power reduction light coming on. Fault investigation by garage found nothing, then main dealership service found nothing. The funny thing was the dealership service replaced the gearbox oil, which is filled next to the hose. In the end I just replaced my, took about 30 mins to replace, but had to order via eBay as part not available. Once replaced all is good. Other issues resolved was, fan always on for 5-10mins when engine turned off every time.

I have a 2013 captiva which engine light came on and went off came on then off, took it into the shop to get looked at was told egr valve not working, New egr and check engine light came of with same code p0401 took it into another shop they said had excess carbon build up paid for service for complete flush, hour after they reset the code the light came back on same code. Black smoke when you put your foot down on the gas. Leaves a cloud of black smoke. Out the back of the exhaust pipes is a thick carbon buildup. So I'm guessing will be DPF blocked up.
Hi there ours is having trouble maintaining boost or sometimes overboost, codes are p0047 & p0299. We can hear the wastegate opening quite often even at light throttle, it sounds like an external wastegate on a jap racecar lol!! sometimes it goes really well and seems like theres no problems with it other times it really lacks power and struggles to move. I just wonder if its the turbo itself or something else, its done 221,000km 😊 Cheers
I have bad engine power and computer says dpf full of ash. I wonder if that could be due to an exhaust leak because there's no code maf or egr sensors?

Hi. I have Captiva from 2007 very often i have light on my display that i have inactive esp control. But when i do diagnostics always sais that is tha trouble in camshaft sensor,i have change it but the light appears again. When i turn of the car and put out the key after 10 minutes the light disappeare but when i continue to drive they again appear. Please give me any advice what that could be
which obd scanner do you use ? It looks very useful but there's so many to buy out there. I have a chevrolet captiva 2.2 diesel manual. In my book it does not tell me which obd type I need (16 pin ) or different. It is a uk model not EU car. Ideally the kind you have with a large screen for diagnostics is good for me. Any help would be useful thanks.

He mate,i’ve got same problem,but the thing is there’s no warning symbol on the dash,and it’s driving perfectly,it’s just the smoke that come’s out on the exhaust often,and when i pulled over and turned off the engine,the fan started to run in full speed for about 1-2 minutes,what was the problem?been in 3 mechanic already.
Had the same issue, no warning light but a nasty black smoke on low gears & hard acceleration. I took the same root as per the video and got the culprit cracked on its bottom part and I had a custom one made with stainless steel pipe. Now she runs like a horse with no issues.

I have this problem also. Engine light with spanner symbol inside comes on. Car drives and increases speed but not like when i use the accelerator pedal normally. Turn the engine off and light goes out. Starts again, no light on and acceleration back to normal. Light comes on every 100 to 200km. Disappears when engine turned off.

У меня была проблема с DPF как я думал, пришлось его удалить и перепрошить блок управления, но дело оказалось не в этом, под турбиной идет приемная труба на интеркулер, она стальная, т.к. температуры высокие, и на флянце этой трубы крепления к турбине,была заводская трещина, фланец не был хорошо проварен на заводе, после устранения неисправности, ошибки перестали появляться, но я без сажевика,ЕГР и со спорт прошивкой 220 л.с))) А вот шланги не менял, пробег 180 тыс. км, сборка Корея

Mine was cracked exactly as you show here. I changed both hoses on mine and it's solved several error code issues.

All cars have obd 16 pin. Atleast since 1998. I have autel ultra. It has very large screen and super fast to use.

Been also on fuel injector specialist,but nothing happen.there was no scan diagnostics.
It's hard to diagnose over text. I will need to see the car.
