I knew this video would ruffle some feathers, but at the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. This video is not intended to insult those who purchased this product but to get people thinking about whether it is worth it, given that it lacks the quality, features, and support you'll receive from a genuine product. If you think it is worth it still, then that is okay. It was a fun video, and I hope everyone enjoys the editing.
@ pretty much bought it to test it out to see how it shot and everything got it on sale I already have a high end hand held bought it to see how it shot and held up from the uv
Thanks for the review! I’ve seen the Amazon one and thought about getting it but now I know to save and get a Wiseguy or other cheapish quality release. Appreciate it!
While I agree that you should never rely on the knock offs and the product is indeed garbage. I wanted to try a thumb release but didn’t want to spend $300 yet. I bought the knock offs synapse and used it to see if I even liked the idea. I loved it and then made the jump to a Stan onnex.
Nothing wrong with that. I did the same but purchased the Spot Hogg Whipper snapper and then transitioned to a higher-end release. People are taking the video way more seriously than it was intended to be, hence the cardboard box.
What features does the copy lack that are present on the brand name? I bought one of the copies to do a similar comparison (other things have since come up that warranted my attention), and the UV finger attachments fit on the clone and vice versa. The thumb barrel and trigger stem are also very similar, and both models have a similar tension and travel adjustment range. The clone has yet to malfunction while i loose arrows with it. I don't advocate for buying clones of anything over the original, but i can see why people would in this case. Most people don't care about the meta reasons (country of manufacture, intellectual property, etc) to buy something or not.
You gave this release more time than I was willing to give. I already had a negative outlook on it, so it wasn't worth my time to do a full detailed review. Regarding the release, you can chalk this up as spec or features, but the first thing I noticed was the fit. The handle is much smaller than the original UV, and the ring finger was almost too tight. The second is the sound of the release, which indicates that the knockoff doesn't have the internal bushing, helping to reduce noise and the wear on the internal parts. The third is that the feel of the release is not the same, and there were manufacturing imperfections on the thumb barrel and the release body. However, I would expect this to be a $130 knockoff. I understand that most people don't care about intellectual property, but the question I posed that no one has answered is why buy the knockoff release and sacrifice any quality when there are other options available through various manufacturers that won't.
@MichiganAmBushOutdoors thank you for the detailed response. You'd be surprised how similar they look when you crack them open. Mine doesn't "ping" when it goes out and it does have bushings around the pins. The difference is mostly the finishing work and possibly the grade of materials the internals are made of). I'll post pics when I do my review. As for why someone would buy a clone instead of a name brand version, well, there's a risk in buying something with no warranty support, but you can also buy 3-4 clones for the price of one UV Button (mine cost $88). Some people can't justify paying 300-350 for one piece of equipment. The clones target the "casual" archer and people just starting out.
@ajbholsters2035 Anytime, man! I always appreciate your opinion. I wonder how many knockoffs are actually floating around. I'd be curious to see what you received compared to what I received. I understand that people have different budgets, and that's okay. But again, there are other options available that aren't clones and offer a higher level of quality (at least in my case), so why not buy that?
I've tried many releases over the years; carter all the way. Over the 29 years of shooting i still have my orig target 4 and it failed once... (punched myself in the face) and they repaired free of charge shipping inc and they were awesome!
There is nothing wrong with finding another release at a more affordable price point. My question is, why buy something of less quality when you could buy something that is better and isn't a knockoff?
@MichiganAmBushOutdoors See influencers get sponsored by companies to promote their products. Then ppl think they need said product to be successful because influencer said so, but they can't afford it so they buy a knock off version. Ppl believe that they have to have certain things to harvest big deer because that's the product they see ppl on social media harvesting big deer with. It's psychology and marketing 101. 🤷♂️
I got an Amazon one and it doesn’t have that ring noise at all. Just like anything with Amazon some are great, average, ok or garbage. But you can return it if it’s not to your liking for 130 vs 230+. Mines awesome and killed a deer with it yesterday
Thats what I'm gathering. Others have said the same, so there are either multiple versions floating around or, as you said, it's a mixed bag, and what gets delivered is what you get. Congratulations on the deer!
This is a pointless video to make in my opinion. If you don't like the idea of knockoffs, than you shouldn't give them a platform and indirectly promote their products. I own both the original UV Button (stainless steel) and the knockoff and completely agree on the differences in quality. What I don't get is the difference in ergonomic feel. I gave the knockoff a couple hundred shots and it never failed so far. Pulled on it with a scale up to 100 lbs and there was no failure as well. To be honest, it's the same as when women buy fake Gucci bags. It's not the same quality but looks the same and gets the job done. The prices on UV releases are way to high for what they deliver anyways. Pretty sure there is a reason (apart from sponsoring) why you don't see their products used by professional shooters.
I respect your opinion on the video, but as I stated, I don’t agree with supporting companies that profit from others' hard work. This release is junk and lacks the quality and features of the genuine UV. The goal of making this video was to make people think about supporting companies that steal proprietary information. Plenty of other options are available that don't profit from another company's hard work. Also, regarding sponsorship, I am not sponsored, which should be clear because the only UV product that I run is their grip.
I've gotten a couple of sub $20 releases from eBay, then you start really looking into them, they are the exact same releases sold by some more legit archery companies for $80+, the only thing different is the name silk screened on them. I've paid good money for better releases, only to take them home and find out that I hated shooting them. Better to waste $20 vs. $200
I agree. Not all expensive releases are the best option, and I am not knocking anyone for wanting a less expensive release. The question I have, which no one has yet to answer, is, why buy the knockoff if the quality isn't there? Is it the look? Why not just buy a budget-friendly release that isn't a knockoff of another project but still offers a high level of quality?
I'd be afraid to hold the bow at draw with that release. I had one guy show me his Amazon release once (not this clone) and the sear on it was unreliable.
I bought a real one and then dropped it in a field right after shooting my deer three days after buying it. I’m so sad and broke😂 UV please help!!!😂 Love the content man!
It's not worth it. You are better off buying a Hot Shot vapor style release. Made in USA and they have great customer service. It is not a true sear engagement, but rather a lever activation release. Still a good option if you want to see if a handheld is right for you.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors You can get the vapor for around $100 if you look around. They are a bit big and only come in one size. I still have mine as a backup.
Dude! Hold on! Who gives a rip about this release? Especially when you've got an old school 50's era newspaper dispenser that you get your range targets out of? I'm 53, haven't seen one of those since I was about 5. Thats awesome.
That company didn’t steal anything they actually manufacture the Ultraview releases and Ultraview just manufactures their products here in the us. Notice assembled in the US is what they claim so how is that china made release any different than Ultraview when everything is the same even the internals? It’s because you’re biased and it’s your opinion that one is better. I tested both like you and took them both apart. The knock off is missing one little plastic piece in the internals that the sear hits and that’s it. Ultraview is garbage just like the china company that manufacture them.
Ultraview is top notch actually called them today and spoke to them about the slider they where more than happy to answer my questions also a uv button user myself with the arrows 1k

You're welcome, and I always appreciate the help 👊🏼
Iv got it and iv had it since December and shot it almost everyday and I like it a lot
Did you want the UV but didn't want to spend the money?
Why wouldn't you just buy a button that's available at that price point and isn't a knockoff?
