My family was in the 1910 census there! I was the last to leave in1970.

Many of these buildings were still around by the early 60s before being razed. It was a great place to be born and raised still by the 50s/60s. Lots of memories.

This is AWESOME! I spent most of my life in Rockford, Illinois.🧡 Love that town! It's heartbreaking to see how our governments ineptness caused ALL of the factories to close! 😠 We moved there from Pecatonica in '75 on Tallwood Dr. Then we moved to Arizona for 2 years, then, after ol' 'Light Fingers' Pop got caught embezzling so we went right back to Rockford... just in time for the infamous 'Winter of 79'! Pop had a home built at 3810 Cass Ct. That place was SO HAUNTED! 😲 From the rec-room in the basement at night we could hear our parents '79 Mercury Marquis pull into the garage, you could even hear the garage door opening, then their car doors closing and the door from the garage to the kitchen open and their footsteps walking across the floor! Why is that so shocking? Because they weren't home at all, when we would go and check to see where they were, my parents were never even home yet! They would usually come home about an hour after we heard the sounds of the arriving home! FREAKY! And that's my Rockford Story! 👀

Yep, the government and selfish greedy businessmen who sold out to China and Taiwan. Sorry bastards

That was great trip down memory lane. I haven't been back to Rockford in 42 years. But at that time the classic old homes and business buildings were already left to crumble due to loss of economic opportunities adds the influx of low life crime. It was once a treasure! Now it's trash. So sad. It's as bad as Detroit.

Cant believe how you fly through all these interesting images as if they have no history, identity, or meaning. Bizarre. What was the point? I could have spent a minute on each one of these buildings, learning its location and history.

Here's a hint. Watch it as I did at 1/4 speed. Turn the volume off. That works great.

Who would've ever guessed this filthy rotten cesspool used to be such a nice place. I wish I could've seen it back in the day.
