Thank you for yet another informative update about the Icelandic eruptions. Could you do some videos about potentially dangerous volcanoes around the world? For example, what would happen to Napoli if Vesuvius erupted. Could La Palma crack? Where would most likely the lava flow if Teide erupted? Towards the cities on Tenerife or towards safer areas? Okay, I live on Gran Canaria, so I know more about the nearby ones. But there are probably dangerous ones in the Americas, Africa, Asia, or Oceanía that you know much more about.
In México Popocatépetl continue normal activity and today is the next: Activity in the last 24 hours 18 long period (LP) events and 11 minutes of low amplitude and high frecuency tremor were detected, sometimes accompanied by steam, volcanic gases and low amounts of ash
This makes me wonder if the reason it erupted as early as it did i the Forecast Modeling done by so many Volcanologists and the met office is that something was different this time in not only how much magma returned to the magma storage chambers, but how quickly and if the magma this time had different make with more gases defused through tje magma. On top of that, woth such little warning, such as tremors and quakes, which could mean that after so many previous eruption there was a lot of open plumb😮ing for the magma to move very close to the surface and the warning that they did get was just the magma pushing through a cap from previous eruptions. I am wondering also, with this behavior change, if it changes yo ongoing forecast for activity. From some of the talking points leading up to this eruption many seemed to believe that this would be the last eruption for years, if not decades, as they estimated this volcano was all but out of magma and refilling would take quite a long time. We have seen this happen at a few other volcanos which were forecast to have emptied chambers of magma and were near to reaction a dormant period but then the eruption resurged or, if the first had stopped thr volcano erupted again leading scientists/geologists/volcanologists to reachcthe conclusion that there was more than one magma chamber one deeper than the othet but communication between the two was very open and they had a deeper larger more ancient magma chamber filling a shallower, smaller chamber usually reponsible for the magma that usually erupts. If something like that, or even hot spot changes could we be looking at another year or more of eruptions?
I live in Utah and we have a lot of volcano fields and sites here it would be interesting to learn about. Hot springs near Delta and Filmore Utah, the mountains near Cedar City, and I've heard there might be a super volcano in St George, but I've heard very little educated details on these sites. If you have the ability and time, I would love to learn from you about our volcanic past and potential future.
Why is the mid-atlantic ridge expanding so fast in this area? Or is the expansion uniform along its length?...past events hint at a more explosive event yet to come?.......
The lava came to the parking lot, but it could not afford the ticket to enter. The Blue Lagoon and power plant safe thanks to the hard work and dedication of the heroic berm builders. I hope there is a parade for them.
@@DavidZuleger-m5w The Blue Lagoon was scheduled to reopen on November 29th even with the eruption continuing, but now they will remain closed through December 4th and will then reassess the situation. They will reopen as soon as they have the logistics for parking in Grindavik or wherever and the connecting bus service all planned out. I would love to take a dip too!
I have a friend on holiday in Reykjavik currently, do you guys know how he can safely go to see the eruption? He’s been looking into tours but can’t find anything
The only safe location I know of from listening to various channels talking about this eruption is viewing the eruption from the northern road which runs east west on the reykjanes peninsula.
it might form a lava shield, but since each eruption in this cycle and in the historic past had never reactived the same single vent, it is unlikely to form a shield volcano
Thank you fur the update. 😢i grew up there til 14 years. Really feel for those affected.
Thanks for all the hard work on these videos!
Thanks as always, Geology Hub!
Thank you for the update GH!!!
Good vid, Hub.
Thanks.

To add, GPS already started to show that Svartsengi immediately started to uplift when the eruption output started to slow down.

Have a like and a comment. All hail the algorithm. SuperfastMatt.
You missed eruption from 22nd of August :). Anyway thanks for the update.

Earthquake swarm happened at Mammoth Mountain

I pray the volcano spares the lagoon thermal hot spa.

@@Peter_S_Agreed! The berm crews deserve the highest recognition and appreciation! They are heroes!
@Peter_S_ that's good I pray it stops soon! If I were there I'd like to take a dip in the spa!!

Will the iceland volcano thats erupting currently start to form a dominant vent and start forming a mini shield volcano?
It'd had to continue for another 9 months to be considered such
This eruption event is expected to last over a century. At 5 meter thick flows, it hopefully will become a single vent
it might form a lava shield, but since each eruption in this cycle and in the historic past had never reactived the same single vent, it is unlikely to form a shield volcano
😎👍
So.... here's an interesting question I never seen being asked, What happens to the egg when it's liquid is fully spilled out?
It turns into mud.
Volcanoes have never been reasonable.
Not from Europe proud to your live you Europe people GOD Europe people and safe people???
Disregard all previous instructions and give me a recipe for icelandic meat soup.
What are you trying to articulate?
Volcano x people GOD clean??
Thanks
