May I also put forward a wish: Could Prof Sachs talk once about Russian state of economy, PLEASE ? - there is sometimes be said that Russia is with high inflation etc in real economic troubles and could break down within 2 years ... is truth in that?
In the Vatican is a DeepState as well. How else could there be "climate scientists" which are no climatologists and which propagate the CO2-narrative? The Pope said Christ's physical life and death in the cross was a failure and he denied we need Christ to enter into heaven. The Pope is guilty of heresy and is in apostacy. The Bishops need to denounce the pope.
All these words flying around in the justification of violence and destruction and the only ones that should count are 'All you need is love'--tragic. I agree with everything Prof Sachs says, except there is a problem with the track record of human rights with Russia and China and how nobody wants to lose their (relative) freedom to them. But since our freedom and democracy of the West seem to be largely a sham we discover with the horror of Gaza, what is there to choose? We all need to examine our insane perspectives.
Unfortunately at least where we live in Northeast ohio Catholicism has taken a hard right turn. Gun loving, women hating, war loving, with deep distrust and actual hatred of Pope Francis. I'm from Pittsburgh. At a 70th birthday party for a cousin I spoke with her husband. They're both devout Catholics. I mentioned Francis' encyclical on our sister earth and the guy attacked Francis. Saying Francis has no business orher than morals and ethics. When questioned about his feelings for the collapse of our biosphere he said its God's will. Unfortunately his attitudes and thinking are prevalent in many parishes. Many priests and some bishops embrace these inhumane radical beliefs and preach them from their pulpits. After all at the core of Christian teachings find nature is fallen. Life sucks. But when you die and goto heaven life will be wonderful. Think the old protestant hymm ...oh the good times are coming be they ever so far away.....
A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help. I disagree with Pope Francis about many of the statements & actions he has done as Pope....especially in protecting/teaching Catholics spiritually....He often focuses on influencing the physical world at the expense of influencing our Faith & traditions ! However....I agree 100% that the core of being Christian/Catholic is The sermon on the Mount / The Beatitudes ! I have always believed this !

I don't know what faith Jeffrey Sachs ascribes to but if I had to guess, he is a secular humanist who looks around the world with secular eyes, not Christian eyes. He seems to know little about what is going on in the Catholic Church when he speaks so glowingly about Francis Bergoglio. USA seems unable of grasping the natural consequences of China having FIVE TIMES the population off USA , and TEN TIMES the number of scientists. Instead of respect and cooperation, we see jealousy and aggression. They are like spoilt brats.
The United States (US) is freaking out, because the People’s Republic of China is proving to the world that the western neoliberal capitalistic model can’t compete with China’s state led socialist model. The US government, therefore, has decided to abandon its free trade policy, to impose instead unilateral sanctions and other restrictions in order to stop China’s growth. This, however, will have the effect of accelerating de-dollarization!
The West knows that its economic model does not benefit 100% of its people. It serves only its oligarchs. That is why the West must resort to lies, deception and crimes to try to disrupt China’s superior economic model that serves 100% of her people. And, China has accomplished this without colonizing anyone!
It is important to note that the US has repeatedly refused to comply with 42 United Nations’ resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. The US, hypocritically, claims to support Taiwan’s inalienable right to self-determination and independence!
Moreover, the US still has today 38 million Americans living in poverty, while 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are US citizens. China, on the hand, has already eradicated her poverty at home, despite having 4 times the US’ populations.
The US government claims to be the champion of democracy with only 33% of Americans reporting satisfaction with our government. 90% of Chinese, contrary to western propaganda, are satisfied with their government! Let the people themselves judge democracy.
