I grew up and have spent most of my life on the oceans and only once (but once was enough) did I have to be rescued by a lifeguard. Didn't actually have an opportunity to properly thank him.
*So here's a big thanks to all lifeguards all over the world!*
I was hanging out with a couple of guys my first year learning to surf, we was on that side of the Pier on a 5-7 ft day.. I didn't know anything about tides or what was going on but when those overhead waves started pounding me cause I didn't know how to read the waves, also that rip ain't no joke, I was shook... took me an hour to get back onto shore.. When I dud become more experienced I stopped hanging around all the dudes who put my life in danger knowing dang well I was not experienced... Good job to the Lifeguards, they always be saving folks at Venice..
What could have been a tragedy turned into an average summer day at the beach because of these Life Guards. Great job guys!
I can't believe they all didn't drown. Wow. And they saved them with just that float device. their strength and their calm. Great job!
Swim along the shoreline until you escape the current's pull. When free from the pull of the current, swim at an angle away from the current toward shore.
Easier said than done if you are not familiar with the ocean
The waves at Venice and Santa Monica can be gnarly.
They saved my life too at the same spot almost 20 years ago due to riptide.
yeah. its great for surfing. The riptide help pull you out to the lineup.
Hard to watch the inexperienced panic.
Good job guys
Way to be guys!
This is why they make the big bucks
Big bucks big trucks smashing the shortys with the sweet guts then hoppin in the lamb with mean cuts
But I’m curious, if they say swim parallel to the shore to get out of the rip, then swim safely back to shore, either this message is not hitting home with people or it doesn’t work. Which is it?
message not hitting home
I mean it's not clicking in my brain. Every clip I watch how to I'm not exactly getting it. It's like I need it broken down for me slowly and detailed...🤷🏼♀️ Haven't been out to a beach in a long time, but still would be nice to know.
Why do idiots go in the water if they see and know the waves r strong and winds
The not thinking smart
This is why when I go to the beach 🏖️ I don't go in very far into the water. I don't know how to swim and once you get past a certain point the sea drags you in deeper and you could drown. I have always been afraid of this so I always just go in only to where the water reaches my nipples.
Danger ⛔⚠ do not! bathe in treacherous waters 💦💧.
Wimps, it's outrageous that they have to be rescued by a bunch of teenagers. They would have been able to swim back on their own
yea, god forbid a fit trained member of the fire department saves your life!
No fun…
lifeguards are the most overpaid county workers, they earn 75k a year to start.
What’s your job?
How many months are they on the job I wonder.
