In America people are innocent until proven guilty. For non violent offenses they have to give you a bond that you can reasonably post. The Sheriff said it was an attempted assassination but there is no evidence that is the case.

they have nothing to hold him on. He didn’t actually -do- anything. It’s the same reason police don’t take action against stalkers until it’s too late. They can’t actually just hold someone. The only crime he really committed was the loaded weapon and the license plate and that’s not enough to hold him. Fake passports only become a crime if they can prove he used them. Otherwise a good lawyer can just say they’re for a play or costume or something innocent. They don’t have anything on him. Because there was no intent to harm anybody. His social media accounts show that he was a huge Trump supporter. He ran for State Assembly in Nevada as a Republican. Granted, he was not very bright for crossing the CA state line with loaded guns. In Nevada you don’t have to register the types of guns he had on him. In CA you do. So that’s pretty much what they charged him with. But there was no assassination attempt.
