I'm 43 and I 100% agree with you, guys. And the same nonsense happens in music, especially in the rock genre. Having a 60 smthg metalhead or punk rocker is an oxymoron. In the 90s a rocker older than 32 was as gone as a pro athlete over 35. Past its prime. Out of touch with the newer generations. Same in movies. Keanu was for the Action Heroes of the 80s what Nirvana was for Heavy Metal. Sadly, GenXrs and my Millenials/Xenials, full of nostalgia has taken over world consumption. Those are the ones driving their kids to see "their" childhood movies, "their" great bands, and sadly those are the ones with the cash to pay for 300bucks tickets for their metal gods or 25 bucks for the Imax experience for their whole bunch. So, if that's what the affluent segment wants, that's what is gonna be produced. Because it's a sure shot. It's time for your generation to take over, creating your own media, promotion and distribution channels. The 90s were all about Anti-Mainstream stuff. Half the stuff was crap. But their were people betting on it, just like on apps now, even though they're also the past. Build your music, your movies, your mediums, and fuck the Boommers, GenXrs and Millenials with their nostalgia. And stop watching their content too! If there is money/clicks, they will keep betting on that.
I am 78 and I cringe anytime I see stars from my era, in my age group featured as action stars. I know what it’s like to be in my seventies and in pretty good health and I can assure you that these performances are unrealistic, even embarrassing!
