David White This quote is from Carl Philippe Emanuel Bach's letter of January 13, 1775 written in reply to questions written to him from Johann Nicolaus Forkel who was writing J.S. Bach's first biography which first published in 1802. I recommend the book, "The Bach Reader" by Hans David and Arthur Mendel, it is a treasure drove on J.S. Bach.
Thank you, tns, for posting this magnificent work also with the score - my most favorite organwork of Bach. As a teen I memorized this, gave my score to someonelse and now discover that over the years I have changed a few notes! Love that Robert Köbler accomplishes the "impossible trill" so well. But how disappointing that he fails to perform that important trill in the pedal. Why no trill at 8:16? The reed becomes tiresome, especially when a half-step higher. Still a wonderful performance!
Wonderful performance by Robert Köbler! He beautifully accomplished the "impossible trill" at 7:14, but fails to perform the magnificent C# pedal trill and F# trill at 8:15. Why? These are not merely optional insignificant embellishments. Thank you, tns, for sharing this great performance and also for displaying the score.
Wonderful hearing this fine performance again. But how could Robert Köbler not perform the important pedal trills? Why no manual trill on the F# at 8:16? Perfectempo!
muzluv33 Thank you dog luv. (If you are referring to a dog's muzzle.) There is a term for semi-staccato but I have forgotten it. I would not like the notes connected in twos, either. I did not.ice.
Bach's compositional skills never cease to amaze...."My father was no lover of dry mathematical stuff." C.P.E. Bach.
How authentic is that quote ?

Bach makes the dissonances sound so beautiful...
Impresionante tonalidad divisible hacia el infinito de un horizonte musical con magna carga mística.
Magnífica obra.

Is the tuning different? 🤔
Sorry but I don't like the staccato in the theme of the fugue
and I think it's taken a bit too fast
frankem51 ^ I do not like staccato, either. But those notes should not be slurred.
I play them slightly separated. What is that called?

The unsteady wind of this organ needs to be corrected.
