WICKENBURG, Ariz. (AP) - The Arizona Department of Public Safety says two motorcyclists have died in a head-on wreck with a sedan on U.S. 93 north of Wickenburg. DPS spokesman Harold Sanders says the driver of a southbound Nissan pulled into the northbound lane to pass another vehicle at about 10:40 a.m. Thursday. The Nissan hit a motorcycle head-on, killing the motorcycle’s driver and a passenger. Sanders says a Ford pickup was also involved. A passenger in the Ford and the driver of the Nissan were taken to a Phoenix hospital for treatment. The roadway was closed for several hours and but has since reopened. DPS says the driver of the Nissan was at fault. No names have been released.
I see the article now. It is dated Apr 1, 2009 and was updated Aug 6, 2021. I never knew they would leave up memorials for 15 years. I always thought it was 1 year or less.
If you come back here the info is posted at the top. A car trying to pass another car or a truck-- had to drive to the side of the road -- then smashed into a biker & rider. Folks from the car or truck were taken to a hospital -- I don't think they were hurt badly. I think no one was charged. But the two on the motor bike were sadly killed. (R I P🙏💖)
Riding a motorcycle is dangerous because of the huge amount of lousy drivers on the road. Being driving for 49 years (summer and winter in North East) with 0 accident and I always anticipate dangerous situations.

My first machine was a 1963 Matchless in L.A., then a '71 BMW R60/5 until I, in the late 2000s retired to the Philippines, however, will not drive one there... sadly scores of folks die on motorcycles in the Philippines. I never had an accident or mishap from 1963-2007 on my machines.

Enough cannot be said. When it comes to motorcycle safety. My husband loved his bike & passed his passion on to our 4 sons. Please!!!! Riders do your best to improve your visibility to other motorists. Wear bright neon colors. Ride in small groups if possible. RIP to the 2 bikers. May the others injured soon regain their health and heal!!! Good to see you enjoying your new home there Mr. Carlson!!!!

Use to ride with my husband, but frail health no longer permits it. Lived in Lk Havasu for a number of years, people driving in the desert go insane with excessive speed and breaking all kinds of driving laws. You quite literally take your life in your own hands...no pun intended. Thank you again.❤

How sad. My ex-husband died shortly after our divorce in a motorcycle accident at the age of 26. Already sad after the divorce, I went into a deep depression, and had I not had 2 little daughters, I might have not made it out. I was able to finish nursing school, and the 3 of us thrived. I think that nursing school and the children kept my mind looking forward. Whoever those 2 people were, I hope they did not suffer, and also hope that they are now in a better place. RIP 🥀🥀
I guess I have a different way of thinking about roadside memorials. I wouldn't want one for myself if something happened to me. Don't remember me in the spot where some dumbass caused my demise, and where thousands of people who couldn't care less drive by every day.

I have driven that stretch of road on 93 many times, so I'm sure that I've passed that memorial. It was very thoughtful of you to stop and pay that memorial a visit and also, to share it with us. Highway 93 is one of the deadlest highway's in AZ use to live in Wikieup,AZ so many accidents and always had one or two fatal people hours sitting on the highway investigating and cleaning up the highway mostly head on crashes

FARMINGTON, N.M. - A 33-year-old Texas woman was killed in a crash Saturday morning near Farmington. Jessica Bateman of Leander, Texas, was driving west on San Juan County Road 7010 when she ran a stop sign around 7:30 a.m. and collided with a tractor-trailer at the intersection with State Road 371, state police said. Bateman was pronounced dead at the scene. Thomas Reynolds of Arizona was driving the tractor-trailer. He and his two passengers were taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center. Police did not release their conditions. This was my daughter and at the time this happened there was another lane on her right side and there was only a stop sign (it was the only one in the area without a flashing red light)and all we can figure is she didn't see it. They have since gotten rid of that extra lane and moved the sign to a closer position for people to see. However I do know that she wasn't the only fatality at that intersection. We are coming up on 8 years soon and the heartache has never left me. This kinda looks like the same area my daughter died at. Her dad put a cross out there for her.
