About SLAM
Sports Leadership Arts Management of Apollo integrates sports related themes into a rigorous standards-based curricular program to create an environment that engages students in the learning process by leveraging their love of sports and making learning meaningful and relevant. SLAM uses innovative, sports related theme that make learning "relevant" to students; creating "relationships" within the learning community; and challenging students at their instructional level with the academic "rigor" of high standards-based course work. Students in grades K-5 will develop a foundation to think critically and apply knowledge across disciplines. Sports is used as the hook to engage students and develop their love for learning. A special emphasis on sports science in STEM fields through a Computer Science block and one day of dedicated project-based learning in math class. This unique curriculum gives students opportunities to engage in both predictable and unpredictable real world situations. Students will be empowered to create positive relationships with peers, parents, teachers, and community mentors.
SLAM provides students with unique access to career mentors, athletes as role models, and executive internships through educational partnerships with local and national sports franchises. By fostering these and other long-term relationships, students at SLAM benefit from real world learning experiences within all facets of the sports industry.
