    This game is as complex as using D&D's Player's Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master's Guide in one--and obliterates the need for a DM! League of Dungeoneers is genius!

      It certainly does pack a lot into the box.

      It's true that it's a "D&D in a box" kind of game more than any other dungeon crawler, IMHO.

      Dungeon Universalis still the most RPG in a box board game I know of.

    i've been running and writing Tabletop RPG campaigns for over 15 years now, mainly Pathfinder, but also Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and D&D. I got this game yesterday and it's been a blast. The amount of inspiration i get just from flipping through the books and setting up the game is immense. Also, i am glad i finally get to be a player too ^^ That warhammer rpg feeling i get is also awesome! Great game indeed, probably my holy grail wheni it comes to dungeon crawler board games. Especially the open ended nature is perfect for pick up and play groups, we often vary in what players can make a given game night and with this game, people can just hop in, start a new character and play with already exiisting characters together and grab some loot from a dungeon.

    The quest design was one of the reason I hesitate to back it during KS. I am glad it turn out to be like WHQ instead of the series of quests in specific order! Very interested in the future reprint now :)

    Something about this game keeps me coming back to see more. Your enthusiasm for this game doesn't help. The flexibility of this system with the ability to play it so free form is the type of game I would like. However, 30+ pounds of a game and finding room to play it is what is currently holding me back . Please continue with videos on this game!

    Nice, after watching this I finally see the comparison with Dungeon Universalis. There is a main quest there, two if you have the second book. The return of Raazbal and Nightstone There are 5 side quests which you can do while adventuring; Thai Chang empire, totem Island, Greenskin campaign, tales of Fang and Claw and the Lord of the spiders and all the epic encounters and single quests, dungeons that you discover while travelling or while visiting establishments such as the governors palace.
    I still see them as very different games but they are both great dungeon crawlers. Love the list you have here.

    This is a lot more campaign based than I was expecting. Are there decent enough rules around creating bosses for a campaign? Or maybe not specific rules but is it obvious enough what a decent power level an end campaign boss should be?

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  Год назад

      The game comes with scaling monster tables and named monsters for bosses. Each quest tells you what faction you fight and what is in the objective room. The campaign of the game is just keeping your characters alive. Live I said in the video, campaign isn’t exactly the right word for what this game is doing because people hear that word and they think Oathsworn or Middara.

  • @stormy7722

    can you just roll a random quest? meaning, can u randomly generate a quest or dungeon?

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  8 месяцев назад

      All of the dungeons are randomly generated, and to generate a quest you can just roll on the chart to see what quest. It's the same process as games like Warhammer Quest and Darklight Memento Mori.

    Nice video! .. it looks like the LoD system might lend itself to incorporating AHQ campaigns ..what do you think?

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  Год назад +1

      Not sure. I don’t think I’ve ever really looked closely at the AHQ campaigns. Probably wouldn’t take too much work.

    • @pedrowayne4675
      @pedrowayne4675 Год назад

      With the exception of the cards for random dungeon generation…The more I see of LoD the more it reminds me of AHQ…

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  Год назад

      It’s more WHQ because of the travel and settlements and leveling up with new traits and skills. I’d say it’s 70% WHQ, 30% AHQ.

    • @pedrowayne4675
      @pedrowayne4675 Год назад +1

      @@TheDungeonDive interesting take .. I did add an overland travel mechanic to my AHQ set I made … from WHQ no less…😅… Beyond the Gray Mountains… great fan addition … so we have the overland mechanic and the dungeon generation mechanic… … 🤔… seems like after that LoD departs and adds more depth A-la AHQ… depth of combat, exploration etc… I’d put it AHQ 50% WHQ 30%… and leave 20% to other influences… 🤓

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  Год назад +1

      The settlement phase, traveling, dungeon exploreationand character progression, four huge elements, are all straight up WHQ. It is more tactical in the dungeons, which is the AHQ part. At least that's how I see it. I think everyone sees different elements in games, which is why there are so many board game youtube channels. LOL.
