Thanks for the video buddy. You know I'm pissed - they should offer a repaint to all who bought the original version and would like to have a screen accurate color version. Pay for shipping to the factory, get it repaint and send it back. That's the minimum they coud/should offer in my view.
@@BatmanStatueCollector I think you might have a point that these new versions could be just repaints of returns. I think the original ES of the first release was 500, but now it seems to be only 200 Bonus and 200 reg. So that would sum up with the 100 'night color versions' to the original 500 pieces. That speaks for the 'returns repaint theory'. On the other hand, why would this then take until end of 2025/beginning of 2026, which is the estimated release date of the repainted version? And by the way, how stupid is the title 'night color version'? As if Batman would be running around at daylight usually. Especially in the Batman Forever movie. Unbelievable. If it wasn't that bad, I'd be laughing loudly! 😉😆
I didn't order this piece but I would be extremely pissed if I had gotten the one that looks white and then saw them advertise what they're calling the nighttime version
Chris it's funny I own the piece and I actually like the color. I didn't want another black Batman statue. This pops and stands out from the rest. Mine is a purple-silver color and I'm very happy with it. I also think that's what suit looked like. I'm not interested in the new version.
Holy Cow! I'm in Agreement with You! I did return the pervasive Sonar Suit to Sideshow months ago because of the off color blue and PO this New Version from P1 this Morning!
Not that I ordered it, but I actually found the first Sonar Suit to be pretty cool and different looking. The pose and Kilmer sculpt were terrific and I actually like that better than the normal Kilmer version. I think what angers most people is that Prime 1 used deceptive lighting in the original photos to make the suit appear darker. They basically used dark movie lighting, but in reality the suit was a rather bright silver, so in-hand and in bright lighting there was an extreme contrast between what was shown at pre-order and what was delivered. This new version is "painted" to look like how it looked in the darker movie lighting, so the paint will be darker overall. Stupid on Prime 1....Oh, and I would bet that these were simply unsold or returned first versions that Prime 1 decided to repaint in order to make the new edition.
Yes, mine is like this as well, and when I bring it up to Prime 1, they said that’s a special Color paint that changes Color with different light exposure, but I can never re.create a close look to the prototype Color with all the lighting effects I have tried, so obviously they know the problem and that’s a cover up excuse
I initially pre-ordered the Original. I ended up cancelling for some reason. Im glad I did. When i seen this version came out I instantly pre-ordered it. Only #100 available. Glad ill be one if those. I feel bad for the ones who got the original. The paint job looks so bad. Like a Silver Batman not a Sonar Batman.
@@xjumpmaster82 just be careful with the new release, no one knows if they will screw up again with this new release. Last time we trusted them with the pre order photo and it came out entirely different. Hopefully the same won’t happen again, but who know…
I went back and watched your video on the original version. There can be no doubt that what they produced was flat out the wrong color compared to what was solicited. This new version is basically what they should have originally produced, although it may be a bit darker. What they should have done is allow anyone unhappy with the original version to swap out, free of charge, for this version. Had I purchased the original version and now witnessed this, I would never buy another P1 statue again. A major FU to the earlier collectors.
Holy Fuck Batman! That albino suit looks NOTHING like anything seen in the film! Somebody really dropped the ball on QC. The Nightime Edition is a backpedal fix and a kick in the nuts to collectors who got screwed over. They should be sending them the corrected version for FREE!
It's a company trying to be successful and make money in a market where statue companies are increasingly struggling. The paint issue on the previously released statue may have been a mistake at the factory. I'm not sure it's necessary to ascribe nefarious tactics on the part of the company. Ultimately, it became a problem for them. I think you're right that the white paint was a primer and the factory didn't apply the overcoat.
I do not fault Prime 1 for making this new version as they are a business trying to sell statues, but I can also understand why some collectors are upset about this release.
I feel like this could lean into false advertising lawsuit territory. If a crappy $30 Marvel legends figure isn't accurate to the promo images, fine. Although I believe they should, it's not as bad as something like this where its a product that costs hundreds sometimes thousands of dollars. If I'm paying that much for something, I expect it to look like the photos.
This is just par for the course for companies, sometimes a 2.0 is just a running change! Some shots of that suit look like a super bright silver like during the "what do you think Alfred, by sea or by air?... why not both!" Scene, that 1.0 actually looks pretty accurate for not using silver!... The panther suit kilmer suit gets no love!
The extra $100 is daylight robbery, honestly. Not just cheeky. Personally, I think those that bought the original version (white) deserve to have their versions switched with the re-release. The fact that the statue was released in the condition it was.. to me, was done intentionally/by design and this is just a scheming way for them to get more money. Poor quality service and a shady business practice is what it comes down to.
It is no business if your goal is to cheat customers. The should show the figures just like they are going to produce them and people should decide then
I’m a little sick of the “they are a business excuse”. I know they need to make money but how about they focus their efforts on producing new and amazing statues vs reissues to make money…you know like how they founded their business? This is a reissue. Prime 1 is like every movie production company these days doing remakes vs new productions. It is not good for the hobby or the company long term. Final thought - IMO this is what almost every original owner wanted in terms of a production paint job. Question - Does Prime 1 care about their customer base? I think we need to start asking this question.
This is so puzzling, there is no way that first version was actually finished right? There had to be at least one coat of paint missing. They approve the factory paint before starting production so the factory knew what they had to do, how can something like this happen? Absolutely insane. And to not offer a refund/exchange to customers? Wtf
1) I've never liked Prime 1s photos because they are over saturated with digital effects. It's hard to really see what the statue looks like in its natural state. 2) That's absolutely ASS that Prime 1 didn't own their intital mistake but rather, they are fixing it and calling it something else. There's no way I would have kept that first one. That thing would have been sent directly back to Prime 1.
That's why i not support companys like Prime1. The Statue are so overpriced.. and at the end things happened like this. The same like the Hush Statues - People think they have a special statue now they have released a 1/4 version.
I would of bought that version now that it looks like dark version instead i seen how bad it looked and decided to get the panther suit but now i want that version again lol
This IS the current statue game. You're not getting what you pay for anymore, and they WILL play games to snatch an extra buck. *Wait till they release the 1:4😅
The big mistake was buying a statue representing the beginning of the decline in 90s Batman movies. All joking aside, that’s pretty crappy. Neither paint job looks right…the repaint looks too dark in the images provided. Maybe that’s just because of the lighting but they need to just take a regular photo showing what the paint actually looks like.
Yeah if they repainted them because of people’s complaints then those should just be free replacements for the people that bought the original and were dissatisfied with it
You are showing the wrong pictures in comparison. The comparison photos of Prime 1 that you show are from the Night Color Edition. Which, according to the website, will not even be shipped yet (expected towards the end of next year). However, the cases shown relate more to the bonus/ regular version. This one is already being shipped. The promo pictures also look much more like those of the collectors. It's still a bit fraudulent, but it hasn't been this strong for a long time.
But wait it's not just the Sonar suit, if you take the time to see all the pictures from P1, you see that they will also recolored Robin. It's completely disgusting from P1, a complete trash move from a trash company. At this point I don't know how to express it differently and I strongly disagree with you saying "It's Prime 1, it's a business decision...". I don't see anything wrong offering various paint versions, as long as you offer them all at once so people have the choice. Here, they just realized that they f***ed up their first paint and it didn't sell and then they recolored it to try to sell them without any form of compensation for those who bought it in the first place. It's a backstab, I'm so fed up with P1
Yes, I had the Robin too and the Color was much lighter too, but not to that extreme as the Batman Sonar suit. Now they are re.releasing both, making my original set looks like rubbish and me like a dump… Have never been so pissed, especially this pair is one of my favourite character
That's how the original suit color is meant to be. It is mainly the light and cinematic effects that makes the suit looks darker and glossier. I remember I commissioned a friend to paint a old vinyl model of batman forever. He painted 2 models in different colors. one in matt whitish grey and the other in darker glossy color. He passed the whitish grey one to me and said this is mine. I was rather unhappy after I saw he had the darker color one painted. He said he saw a magazine that shows the suit in the whitish grey color. I am not sure whether to believe him or not. I am now glad I had the Hot Toys Batman Forever 1/6 figure. If you are looking for a screen color accurate batman forever, you can reference the Hot Toys batman forever.
I will always believe this of Prime1, if They inventory that is Not moving, They do a repaint of the statue to get rid of the extra statues ! Todd McFarlane is famous for doing that !!
