I just got this installed on my 2017 Nissan Rogue. It’s a nice head unit, very easy to use and the screen is very clear with good viewing angles. It also has a auto dimmer. My steering wheel controls and back up camera all work with the unit.

Bruh thats crazy i just got this installed today on my 2017 nissan sentra. Its so loud lol. I have to take it back tomorrow to get the usb and the wheel buttons wired.

@@chupamishuevos303 - They face out so good, aren't even hidden, and you can see them. I'm going through the next face in my life (but I look the same). Want to make sure speakers are in face too, so there's less frequency cancellation.

UI still looks laggy. 10 years ago a smaller device was still faster. only its a phone not a deck, why cant manufactures get speed and smoothness in their decks?
They can, but the screens / hardware are still very expensive. If you bump up to the higher end head units you'll have a nicer display / better smoothness. You can't compare a $300 head unit to an $800 smart phone

Quality Mobile... If you had $400 to spend on a double din unit and what to keep factory camera, what would you go for?
I was going to buy the Pioneer DMH-1500NEX, but this Sony looks so much cleaner and comes with the better screen. I've just ALWAYS used Pioneer head units and never had issues with them.
Pioneer and Sony are both great. I'm with you, I would get Sony over Pioneer. I just think they look much better, more modern, and I like their OS better. Also, they're simple. They're not throwing a thousand features at you

@@philweissburg2194 I ended up buying the pioneer..lol. Couldn't get past how horrible Android auto and apple carplay was on the Sony. Sony needs to release a firmware update to address those two issues.

@@johnk6837 checkout the latest pioneer nex models. I own one and the interface is smooth and brilliant, plus its customizable and easy to read.
I currently have the gs series xav-712hd. Problem I found out with the Sony stereos is very limited control over sound. Yes, they have EQ and basic low and high pass filters, but that's about it. My under $200 pioneer in another car, you can set much more up in the crossovers for rolloff. The 712hd I have, has one of the nicest screens I have seen, but limited control over sounds kills it for me.
Pioneer Is The Best Radio, Especially For Sound. I Love Pioneer Double Din Over Any Brand

There are forums ever where about how this product doesn't do such a good job with Android Auto. I purchased this unit plus the 3000 version and neither worked well with Android auto. If you are interested in using AA thinking about going with Kenwood or Pioneer. Outside of the Android Auto problem these units looked and sound AMAZING!!
What kind of issues do you run into?
@@kingofunique Android Auto kept crashing. I would have to unplug my phone and plug it back up just for Android Auto to work again for about 5 minutes.....15 at most. Called Sony a couple of times and they couldn't help me fix it.

Bluetooth calling Does NOT WORK with the iPhone with the AX5000. .....
There is a serious flaw in the software even with the latest firmware v1.01. It transfers your phonebook to the radio and displays it just fine. But when you hit the CALL button to place a call, it truncates the number after the first space in the number (leaving only the area code). It CAN NOT DIAL a number. Unfortunately, neither Apple nor the radio allow you to format your phone number to remove spaces, so there is no work around or solution. There is another customer in the SONY forum complaining of the same problem, so it is NOT a single unit hardware defector malfunction, it is a serious software design issue.
Sony is working on a Firmware fix.

@@Zi.Zenior i bought from this website: crutchfield . It came with instructions and the website tells you if it will fit or not and what you need. You can see if you can use the maestro you have. It was easy it took me one afternoon

if you had to choose between this sony or the alpine ilx w650 which would you pick? that's my current dilemma right now.
as far as I can tell the only difference between the two is that the alpine has 2 camera inputs and their available amp module addon, while the Sony comes with a more powerful deck (sony is 55watt x4 with 20rms, alpine is 50w x4 with 14rms)
I haven't used the W650 personally, but it's certainly a very interesting stereo, specifically it's chassis depth of only 2". I love the design of the Sony XAV-AX models, both externally and their OS. I prefer simplicity and on a personal level, don't need a ton of features outside of Apple Carplay and Bluetooth.
I just got mine back from the install shop today. Everything seems good so far, except one issue. My steering controls in my truck only change the radio and volume, the voice commands and phone button doesn’t work anymore. The shop said they can’t always make them work on some vehicles. So I guess I’m screwed on that.

The fact the buttons are only white, and no idatalink maestro support killed it for me. Otherwise, I LOVE the UI and the design with the minimal bezzles and the simplistic button arrangement at the bottom.
Lxrry why are the white buttons an issue? Is it a visibility thing or just aesthetic preference?
if you have a green or orange dash lights it won't match! thats why i'm going with Pioneer. Best HU with excellent audio quality.
Larry I don’t think I need a maestro as my steering wheel has no buttons therefore no control interface. But I otherwise it’s a bit of an issue for those with steering wheel interface.

Is it still saddled with Bluetooth 3.0 and limited to one Bluetooth paired device at a time like the XAV-AX100? I have one of those and it pissed me off to discover this limitation. My ancient Pioneer unit had at least 4 paired devices remembered and two at a time which could switch when the other paused content. Also, I think you’re right about it being better without the dial, as the little one on the ax100 isn’t great.

Some cameras have the lines built in permanently, I believes you can shut them off on the Sony
