5000 is already capacitive isn't it?
The xavax500 is also a learning stereo for the steering wheel controls like the 7000 and 8000 however it doesn’t come with the wired remote tether, you can use a 3.5 mm aux cable cut up.
Thanks for the comparison, single USB port on AVX8000 is frustrating.
next year on the 8000: capacitive HD display, 2 usb ports, HD radio, direct subwoofer connection.... that would make it almost perfect

Great video keep em up!!! I have the xav-ax8000 love it looks amazeing get nothing but compliments on it!!! Just some updated info on the 8000 sony released a firmware update on 3/20 wich added mirrorlink and also allows u to upload custom wallpaper now via usb thumb drive. For anybody asking about fitment with the ax-8000 it will literally fit any vehicle made bc it is a single din mount. I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 wich factory radio was the big clunky double din unit GM made but with the 8000 i just purchased a single din trim bezzel kit for my truck. Install was simple but i do have alot of self taught install experience my xtended cab Sierra right now has a total of 15 speakers, 3 amps, a capacitor, and this awesome 9 inch floating sony xav ax-8000!!!

The Xav-7000 already has capacitive touch, so why did they downgrade to resistive touch in xav-8000 model? Any idea?
Adding NFC, capacitive touch & inbuilt navigation will make it perfect.

May 2023. I have always been a Kenwood guy. But I bought the 7000 for my 2011 Ranger because of the built-in amp. I don't think Kenwood makes a head unit with on board amp. I will tell you that Sorny sounds absolutely killer. Although the 4 Infinity Kappas and the 8"JBL Sub in that little cab don't hurt, either. Here's hopin' I can save my hearing. If your on the fence, get one. You will not regert it.

Maybe things have changed since the video was released, but the xav-ax5000 has complete maestro support and the 7-8000 have partial maestro support now.
I'd be all over that 8000 if it had capacitive touch and dual rear usb. Why would you have a nice floating screen and then hang a cable from it?
There's a cable-sized channel in which you can run the cable from the rear of the screen through the stereo itself. You don't need to hang a cable from it but having it located on the rear of the screen provides the option for it.

Try install latest version of all apps, fill the internal storage and then check if it lags.
Check it's android version.

There is a company making these stereos XAV-AX5000 and the XAV-AX7000 that can be installed on Harley-Davidson Touring bikes... like a Street Glide or Road Glide or an Electra Glide... question is... Are any of these stereos "Marine Grade" or water resistant?
I have sony xav ax 200 and even if in the begining doesn't had colour button ilummination, after some updates now had it! Also the own photo walpaper! Maybe those will recive colour button iluminattion after an update!

Is it possible to have a blue light blocker on any of the XAVs for at night use? So something similar to the f.lux app on your laptop? Or a basic red filter which turns the whole display in a red color?
Thanks! I honestly have no idea about the light blocker. If it's an app that you download, then no. You can't download apps onto the stereo itself or alter the OS.

Great question, this is really a safety + comfort feature so they need to implement something like that. Less distracting blue light that de-adjusts your eyes to the environment = less accidents
My XAV-AX100 crapped out on me out of nowhere. It has has its issues before it met its untimely end. Replaced it with the Pioneer 2660NEX.

Got a 2011 Honda Civic FD1. Currently using the stock head unit with a converyer, an aftermarket mono amplifier and a subwoofer. Also, installed aftermarket front component speakers. Plan to swap out all 4 of my front and rear speakers for components only. I've been told that I'll need a separate 4 channel amplifier whether I keep my stock head unit or go for an aftermarket one. My concern right now, is whether I should go for the 7000 or the 8000, and if in either case, I'll need a 4 channel amplifier separately.

I think the 7000 already has a class D 4 channel amplifier? I remember reading something along those lines on their website

Anyone have issues with the 5000 audio not working? I have to turn off my truck and turn it bk on. Then the audio works. Steering wheel controls work when they want to.

So why can’t I put that single DIN chassis in my single DIN land cruiser? ‘Fitment’ to me means it goes in the DIN slot. On my dash I prefer it to hang down from there, not rise up from there like with the 8000.
The XAV-AX8000 is the only one that can fit in a single din chassis. I don't think your quite grasping what we mean with the other two. With the 5000 and 7000, the single din chassis is simply to make installation easier for tucking wires. These radio can do that because they have no disc readers for DVD/CDs'. So although their chassis are technically single din, they're really DOUBLE DIN stereos. They would not correctly fit in a single din opening.

All personal preference bud! They're all very similar, the AX7000 is a little better than the AX5000 and the AX8000 has the unique mounting. Literally all up to you! But all three will fit in your vehicle with either of these dash kits:

1996 Impala or Camaro? The 87 Monte Carlo can only fit the XAV-AX8000 since it's the only single din stereo of the three. Same with the 1996 Camaro.

Unfortunately, I can't find any after market parts/wiring for your make and model so you may be out of luck with replacing the stereo
Quality Mobile Video I was told it’s possible but will probably require some repinning/adapters. The main issue is lack of people replacing them to know how to repin it and the “waterfall” design for center areas since doesn’t leave much room and area upfront for replacements.
